It all began on this day 112 years ago with Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, a professor and head of the department of physics at the Julius-Maximillan University at Würzburg in Germany.
His discovery - the x-ray.
Just 13 months after Röntgen’s discovery x-ray sets were installed in most hospitals.
Today we have progressed even further - we have plain film x-rays, digital x-rays, ct scans, mri, fluroscopy, linear accelerators, and the fields of diagnostic and therapeutic radiography are more advanced than ever before, and this does not look like slowing any time soon!
World Radiography Day is an annual, international initiative which is intended to raise awareness and interest in radiography as a career and to address the shortage of radiographers in the UK and abroad.
More than this, it is an excuse for radiographers world wide to eat cake and feel proud of the jobs we do!! :)
so, happy world radiography day people!
