View Full Version : Adolescent peer pressure

My daughter was going into town with her friends on Saturday, who have become some what of a liability. Apparently, they were planning on shop lifting for make-up and asked Leanne along. We couldn't understand why all of a sudden she didn't go and was keeping very quiet about the whole thing. We found out last night that two of the girls were caught and were subsequently taken down the police station.
Last night she said she knew and choose not to be part of it. I'm really pleased that she had the sense not be tempted by adolescent peer pressure. I don't give her enough credit where it's due and I know I should do. I might buy her an album later.
One very happy dad here :)
I did a lot of things when I was younger but I never stole or took drugs.. I was just trouble. I don't remember being put under any peer pressure then but it was a long time ago now.
Awwww she is a good kid - all of them are and are a testament to you Paul :)
She's got a good head on her shoulders.

Good plan :)
I was always a "sensible" kid and while did have a go at shoplifting it wasn't fun or interesting to me, then dad got ill and I had to start acting like an adult - collecting money, paying bills, doing the shopping, learning how to change dressings etc. That kinda thing puts curb to any wayward ideas pretty quickly.
Yep, deffo worth a reward that one :)
You've obviously done a good job there mate.

When i was 12 i came back off holiday to find my two mates well into shoplifting. Come on malc they said "You coming". They had untold gear tucked away so i thought Sweet lets Go. We went on a lifting session for a few weeks & finally got caught. Police involved etc & we all end up going to court. Andy & Phil's proper Mum & Dad were there & they end up getting told off & a fine. They leave the court & the Judge turns to me & says " You are obviously the ring leader & a somewhat troubled child so You Son are going to Reform school  Even my Social worker stood up & said "The best thing that can happen to this boy is for him to be took away from his family/Home etc" :'(
My brief at the time Richard Randell stood up & pleaded my case "Not fair Bla bla bla etc" In the end i got 2 years Probation with a Darling P.O called Miss Else. I fell out of the Courtroom crying my eyes out ;D I won't do it again Mum Honest I Promise Boo hoo bloody hoo :(
I am a ****er !!!
Anyway Admiral your daughter has done Admirably (see what i did there ;)) You should be Awesomely Proud
When we get Juvie shoplifters in, if they're remorseful and or scared the Custody Sgt usually doesn't put them in a Detention Room (Juvenile cell) he leaves them in a side room with Mum or Dad. After they've been dealt with (usually bailed off to Restorative Justice), I give them the $5 tour of the cell block to show them how crap and nasty they are. 99 times out of a hundred they swear they're never coming back.
Yep, deffo worth a reward that one :)

I wasn't so good when I was younger :o
What they did to you though Malc seems a bit OTT, you were only 12! Kids that age do a lot worse these days*, well, with the wonderful exception of Huddys little'un :D
You should be proud Huddy :D
*I'm feeling rather old :o
