I want to play with it but I have to keep it in the box so it can be ebayed when I get back to the UK to pay for the iPod touch I just bought
Lovely bit of kit, I likes toys!
Hmm, given Apple's desire to lock iPhones down tighter than Fort Knox I'm not entirely sure what mileage you'll get there, but good luck and worth a try I guess. :)
You're stronger than me :) But why didn't you buy a Touch there?

I am assuming France cannot be the only country in the world with this law though, surely :)
If true, that sounds like a good move. :)

Looks like I may be wrong for now, Orange Fr won't sell iPhones until November 29th. €300 for a locked phone, and an undisclosed amount for an unlocked phone. Would be interesting to see how much they go for, and how quickly they find their way into the rest of the world :)
I don't understand why this isn't law everywhere else in the world, surely it isn't very good consumer practice to force a phone to bundle with a specific carrier?

iPhones are very easy to hack. 1.1 hacks are all over the place and the 1.2 that caused a load of hacked phones to die already has a (hard to use) hack. Phone has 1.1 so as long as you don't update the software then job's a goodun :)
Bought a Touch for myself :) Pats weak dollar and 10% Cisco discount at Apple store :D
That's bloody tempting actually. My boss is over from the states in three weeks. Must resist. :o :o  :o :o ;D

The more I use the Touch the more impressed I get. Currently surfing BD while listening to music. Facebook web app is very good as well, just wish it had a pop3 mail client.
Guy here has an iPhone and the Guvnor picked up a Touch yesterday. The Touch fits in the cradle I have in the car. I want one. I want it now, it's very nice. I originally said that an iPod without a clickdial thingie isn't a real iPod but I've changed my mind.
I'm going to get one on the way home!
They are very nice, and so incredibly thin.
I just fear for the battery life. In a cradle in your car that isn't an issue, but they're just made to be touched.
As Kitten so appropriately put it, give in to the Apple. :)

I really don't like iStuff but I have to admit the iPhone looked lovely :o
my mate's got an iphone waiting for him @ home... gonna have to steal it tonight and have a good look providing he's able to put it down.
Feek!! I could have got you one last week you dimble ;D
I didn't know I wanted one then! I'd not seen them.
Nae matter, the electricity board paid for it. Well, I did really but it was their refund which did the saving up for me :)
i had a go on an iphone last night and i have to say its boring without an accessable wifi connection.
theres really nothing on it other than a phone and txt function (which obviously is all you need) but i expected more from an apple. they normall have 'other' stuff.
i was lookin for some Edge settings as i'd heard if you're out of range of free/accessable wifi you could always get online via the Edge network - but that wasn't visable anywhere!
nice phone though... added a few numbers on it and the interface is nice and the qwerty doesn't take any getting used to like people said. :s

Besides the movies, music, image features like Cover Flow, widescreen movies , photo zooming with your fingers and Visual Voicemail? You were expecting free beer? :)

Hmmm i think the touch is great, but does anyone enjoy the limited space? I've ran out of room on my 30gb iPod :( I like to be able to carry my muisc around everywhere and use the iPod in a dock in the car, so don't use the old "just copy over what you need" :p. If the touch was 32gb (or preferably more since i'm looking at the new 80/160 classics) i may have snapped it up...
It's more than enough space for me, but I am changing from a 4Gb Nano that I've had for about three years.

I see, apart from the nice screen doesnt the size get you too, i mean 8 and 16gb nanos come in those sizes dont they and theyre tiiiiiny. It just all seems wrong to me? :( The space to physical size ratio seems out....
It fits in the cradle I use in the car, it has 4 times as much space as I had before, it looks great and is much easier to navigate and use than my old Nano.

well that was basically my point.
all these things require an inet connection. Not really something readily available unless you live in london.... well not readily in chester anyway - maybe it'll be better when we get back to sheffield.
but anyway, yeah all those things are great once you've got a few gig of music and movies on there but out-of-the-box its a little boring... i wanted it to jump out and say 'look at all my cool features'... at least in the form of a heavily staged, clutter free apple video tour!
at least as a newb user you can see the potential of it once you've put the effort in.

I suppose were different users feek, i use mine out and about all the, my "docked" music would be itunes, whereas when i want my ipod i want it small (for its capacity) and in my pocket on the move...
How badly scratched is the back of the Touch going to get?
Very :(
