Yesterday, two chaps were laid off..
They have a months notice which takes them into next year.. HR have requested and insisted that they must still have to be given appraisals.
I can see it now:
Employee comments..: Huddy is a ********
:(
Urgh, you've got to do the appraisals?
I would tell HR to get bent.
Lol, thats a joke, i can see it now.... "How do you see your growth within the company"?

I hate HR.. No sense of humour at all.
When I started, they asked to see my O'level certficates (which I lied about on my appliation form). I said that I smoked them at a graduation party. No reaction, she just scribbled something down.. Prat most likely :p

I need to set up a National business where i can offer the services of handling people that others do not want to.
Then you could All carry a card with my number on it & just give it out to whoever without saying a word.
Then said person could ring me & explain the problem/Issue.
Then i could tell them to **** off in my You know i ******* mean it voice
can't be a nice thing to have to do :(

I had to do an appraisal with my old shift manager when I transferred to Sysadmin. Both of us thought it a joke.

Someone told me 'HR is becoming far more systematic. It's practically a science these days.' He was my signing my time sheets at the time so I didn't laugh in his face, but it took a herculean effort of composure not to.
2 months after you let those guys go a forward load chart will show you needed to start hiring 6 weeks ago.
Hold the appraisals down the pub? And remind them they need to buy drinks on their leaving do, and now'll do :)
Does seem ridiculous!!!!
Thats just plain stupid. Personally I would do this as:-
Email the sector head with something in the title along the lines of "HR cretins". Simply give him two options as you are already busy working, 1. The year end financials are done on time and invoices are raised on time so the company gets paid, 2. We do appraisals for two members of staff that are leaving. Pick one or get someone else to do it :)
I really do loathe HR and MO and the hatred is well deserved and known. Certainly you have extra clout with it being year end and practice managers are running around desperately finding money.
Are you sure they mean appraisals and not exit interviews? Really just mail your boss and say they are being cretins.

I used to work in HR... We were damn good...
My current opinion is that they are a bunch of w******
Long story short...
2 months ago HR said my post could be rewritten and regraded to avoid me being screwed by the restructure.... This is good.
2 weeks ago they changed their mind and so I am completely screwed by the current restructure...
Way to go on the 180 change of mind and ****ing up my career you arseholes
I shall prevail :)
I shall prevail :)
I expect you shall. Fingers crossed. :)

And more ;)
In your situation Dym, find something on one of the senior HR people and promptly save their bacon. Being HR they mess up all the time so it shouldn't be hard.

Ah HR. During my exit interview at my last job the HR manager made the mistake of asking me why I was leaving.
"You screwing me over on a pay rise that I deserved when I transfered from Test to Customer Support meant that I decided to look elsewhere and found a company that were willing to offer me a 30% pay increase. If you'd offered me the 7% that I asked for I would still be here"
was not the answer he was expecting and I heard afterward that the CEO and Director of Finance went mental when they found out my real reason for leaving as the payrise wasn't discussed with them and they were very pissed off that I was leaving as I was taking a huge amount of undocumented historical information with me.
Revenge is sweet :D

Revenge is sweet :D;D;D;D Did they make a counter offer or just accept someone misinformed them and let you go?
When I left the old place, the operations manager said to me "Not a lot of point in an exit interview, is there?". I said "Probably better not, I'd like to leave on reasonably good terms...".
