Feek it shouldn't be, but I'm not sure what E4 are broadcasting scrubs as :)
Just had my first COD4 session on the TV and it is great to finally be able to read the text :D
I keep looking at the photo of that TV and wondering how much I need 2 kidneys :o

We're currently waiting for our free HMDI cable to arrive so the V+ box can go HD as it's only connected by scart at the moment.

It's nice :D Parents have got a 32" HDTV, one of the cheaper Hanspree ones and it looks really good, so bet the Samsung looks excellent :)
Nice one guys :)
I wondered what you were talking about last night as I'd not seen this thread when we were chatting. Certainly looks good, bet you're real chuffed :D

heh no wonder you were rather confused when I started talking about it. We are chuffed indeed, it is great. COD4 looks great on it last night. It's good to finally be able to see the text on the screen.

Well bit of a thread resurrection here but I'm sad to say our TV is no more :( Started to develop red speckles on the screen during dark scenes so it went off to the repair centre and they phoned yesterday to say it's not repairable :'(
Looks good, but is that a 4:3 picture I see stretched to fill 16:9 ? /me shudders!
Missed this thread first time around but it was the first thing I noticed as well.
Still under warranty though Leo?

Yeah it's under warranty. We've got to take it back to CostCo for a refund which is a pain but needs doing. Then it's off to collect our replacement :D \o/
Aww that's a shame :(
At least if you get a refund, you can get an exciting new toy all over again :D

You getting the exact same TV Leo?
leowyatt
04-06-2008, 10:42
They don't do the same TV anymore it's been replaced by a newer model which according to people on the av forums isn't as good so we're getting a panasonic screen instead. Did toy with the idea of the new LG but image retention is a big problem with them. Also get the free 5 year Panasonic warranty too :D
What's the model of the new one? :)

That's right, you did mention a Panny to me, I forgot :o
If there's one thing I know, it's Panasonic TV models (I was going to get one but in the end I did the cheapskate thing and got the cheapest I could find that did the job - it was only for the bedroom).
So, that's the latest version 42" plasma then. Good choice. :)

Heh not to worry up till about 3pm yesterday we were going to get the 42PG6000 but changed our minds.

If it's only for the bedroom I wouldn't worry too much Mark :) If it's your main TV then that's a different matter ;)
It seems to be the best choice. Can't afford a Pio as they are silly money.
Only downside is the PC input doesn't have its own dedicated audio input as the Samsung did and the LG would have. It shares this with the component connection which means our DVD recorder couldn't have sound while the 360 is connected. A little thought and I've come up with 2 of these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=370055446656&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=024) and both can use the audio connection and would never be used at the same time. That is until we get our surround system ;)
I do have a Pio in the lounge, but I shouldn't have bothered given how much use it gets. Right now the cheapo (ish) one in the bedroom is getting more use, as I tend to use either that or the PC network, but if I'm watching something decent I'll use it. :)
I'm hoping to be getting into the HDTV craze soon. :)
Was thinking of getting one of the new Samsung 40" LCD panels.
