Which brings a greater feeling of relief: heat on a cold day, or cooling on a hot day. Something like standing under those heaters over the door in shops right in the middle of winter, or whacking the aircon on in the car on a proper melting hot summers day.

What say you?

Cooling down on a hot day :D
Always much prefer to be cold than hot.

I'll echo Haly here! Easier to get warmer than colder too! :D

I prefer to be hot than cold. When I'm cold my body just doesn't want to function. That said, I'd feel more relief from a cool breeze on a hot day than a warm draft on a cold day.

I don't like being cold and I take forever to warm up - I'm currently the only "Warming up on a cold day" vote :o

Depends, tuesday I would have said getting warmer. But I always prefer to be cold, can keep chucking on layers when cold, but when it's hot, you can't exactly take off your skin.

Getting a hit of something cold on a boiling hot day is awesomely refreshing. However, I prefer a cold day and the ability to snuggle to warm up. Hot chocolate, open fire.

Heat on a cold day is more of a relief to me :D

It's good to cool down when it's really hot, but nothing beats getting in from a long walk in the cold and snuggling up in front of a roaring fire.

Unless of course it's a roaring lion, equal heat output and the roar lets you know that he's already eaten so is unlikely to munch on you :D

Coming, as I do, from the Northern extremities of the British Isles, my body is more accustomed to cold temperatures (as well as driving rain and wind) so I do like to cool down on a hot day.
In the summer time in Egypt, the temperature gets up to about 35-40C, there's nothing better than nipping into an air-conditioned switch room for 5 minutes when one has been working in the heat for an hour.

Getting warm when cold is also extremely pleasant but it takes a fair bit for me to get properly cold what with my built in Shetland tolerance and my several inches of natural insulation :D

Whilst the cold never really bothers me, I'd rather be warm. So I'd say a warm up on a cold day is nicer.

I'm with the cooling down when it's warm crowd fwiw :) It's easier to warm up when you're cold than it is to cool down when you're hot.

I go for B - cooling on a warm day. I'm all about the instant gratification ;)

Agreed :D Instantly feel better with a blast of cold air when I'm hot whereas getting warm just makes me sleepy :o

Cooling on a warm day, I'm rather obviously Scottish and the heat just does not agree with me, I can tolerate it for a while but since I don't feel the cold much at all I'm a hell of a lot happier on a cool day than a warm one. Perhaps it also helps that I love snowboarding so I'm one of the few people I know who is always looking out for some snow and then doesn't complain if it comes.

I love heat on a cold day..

As has been said - there's just something about getting cosey on a frosty evening.

I don't function in the cold at all but I think I get more releif from cooling down on a warm day. It's instant whereas warming up is generally gradual.

whereas getting warm just makes me sleepy :o
Can I join that club? :o

Went to Bulgaria this week (as I'm sure you all know by now ;)) and they seem to have the heating on 'turbocharged' in a lot of places there. I dozed off several times on the first day in the office (in front of my boss at least one time) and did the same on the second. By that time, however, I learned a 'cure' - go outside and get cold. :)

Being cold isn't half has bad as being too hot :)

Being too hot is the worst thing ever. I really hate that feeling of the heat being inescapable and I generally find myself feeling trapped and getting very, very angry. So for me, its cooling down on a hot day - because there is nothing worse than a hot day!

I much prefer warmth, but the sheer satisfaction of a cold blast on a hot day wins.

It's our Mediterranean blood. We function better in the warmth! :D
