View Full Version : How you're celebrating Christmas
I know Del Lardo's thread is a bit similar but I didn't want to take it off topic :)
How's everyone spending the next few days?
I'm meant to be resting as much as possible still which is getting annoying now, but today I'm getting the rest of the wrapping done so that hopefully there isn't any left to be done tomorrow.
Christmas Morning will be spent opening presents which tends to take till lunchtime anyway as my parents and I tend to really go for it with Christmas. Then probably spend the evening playing board games, although this year they're getting Scene It for the 360 so think we'll be playing that :D
Boxing Day's being spent with my bratty cousins, Aunt and Uncle and Grandmother. Not the most enjoyable day usually but ah well.
Then the rest of the week will be spent with the family all relaxing, eating lots, playing more trivia games, me showing them both various 360 games, and generally just spending time together. :) Interspersed with a few trips to see family friends but that's more next weekend and New Year.
Times like these, I love having a close family :D

Today I shall be faffing and playing EVE, then cooking a stir fry for dinner...
Tomorrow I shall be faffing and playing EVE as well as wrapping Kate's presents while she's at work, then pizza for dinner and some crappy films...
Christmas day I shall be cooking an awesome breakfast for me and my sister, Kate, then we're getting picked up at about twoish by my Brother's Girlfriend and we're spending the rest of the day with them and our friends Ian and Jude round at my Brother's house. There will be a multitude of presents (Kate can't seem to stop buying them!) and a six course christmas meal, the main course of which will involve two different meats :D
Boxing Day will be spent faffing...
Back to work on Thursday and possibly Friday (depends how far I get with paperwork on Thursday)...
I'm not entirely sure if my sister is coming over or not. Unfortunately I don't really have any family I spend time with, and friends are all far away. So Xmas morning is basically presents, then back to the internet to chat with mates I miss. As shy as I used to be at family events, I do miss that at Xmas.
(well I am trying to but - and you will appreciate this Haly - Leo has accidentally locked me in the downstairs when he's gone out, so I can't do anything outside this room ;D)
Well i hope you don't need the loo before he gets back! :p ;D
Today - Housework (washings, dishes, vaccing, general tidying), AOE3, clean rat cages, think I'm doing oven chips and something for dinner.
Tomorrow - AOE3, housework that didn't get finished today, post a parcel to someone, pick up some shopping, no idea on dinner yet
Xmas Day - prezzies, get dressed, Mic's mother will be round 12:30ish - meeting other 5 friends at the Harvester where we're having a 4 course meal, back home for a bit/get changed/get rid of Mics mother then head to friends house where we'll probably play silly games/watch Debbs play Guitar Hero 3/whatever Debbs has planned for us
Boxing Day - No idea
Thursday - Dog sit Mics mothers mutt as Mics mum has to go to a funeral/wake, be bored silly as theres no interweb or TV, hopefully have sorted out tickets for a friends gig (although this isn't looking good atm :( )
Friday/Saturday/Sunday/NYE/NYD - Currently nothing although boys will need cleaning out again during this time
Normally this time of year we have friends down from Manchester so we spend a lot of time with them and last year we saw you lot. This year the Manc friends aren't coming down and we can't afford to see you lot.

Today - maybe hoover if I am feeling frisky, go shopping at stupid o'clock to try and miss the crowds, WoW, see friends, see Nik's mother.
Christmas Eve - wrap presents, get out the Christmas Stump and put tinsel on the Hippo, play WoW
Christmas Day - ditto near enough what Tak said and I resemble the Guitar Hero remark, get very drunk for midnight :(
Boxing Day - Possibly going to the cinema.
New Year - Don't know - probably nothing .. watch some films, play WoW or Guitar Hero - who knows :D The world is our mussel :D

Aww :(
At work tomorrow - probably a long day (5am-8pm ish) as it's the day before we close for the only day of the year (though some poor buggers are working on Christmas day (staff have to be on branch at all times!).
Christmas at Piali's parents for lunch and that's about it. Boxing day I was lucky I managed to get that off, but it's a normal working day for us, so I'll just chill out, go to the gym, do some housework etc...
Then back at work on thursday and friday!
Exciting!

Today was meant to be doing house work but so far I've sat on my ass watching crappy Christmas movies and I might go out tonight instead.
Tomorrow is wrapping pressies and finishing off (and probably finally starting :p) the house work.
Christmas day I'll head down my parents and might stop over so I can have a few drinks.
Boxing day is undecided yet. :)
Today - finished the dining room and assembled the dining table and chairs. Now have somewhere to eat christmas dinner!
Tomorrow, cooked breakfast, bath then off to my sisters' house to have first christmas. Off to see Bee Movie in the afternoon.Home again in evening.
Christmas day, kids get up at about 5am. Open presents then go back for a kip until 9am when we start up Singstar with all the new discs I bought. Eat crap all day, watch Dr Who, drink wine and generally have a good time.
Boxing Day I think some strange people may be descending.

Today is my big sisters birthday so we had chinese. My little sister came home from Italy but has gone off another party. Helped out around the house cleaning up and wrapping final presents.
Tomorrow got to go to the doctors at lunch time then pick my sister up as she is coming for our traditional christmas tradition of staying up until midnight and opening the presents then going to bed.
Christmas day meal with mum, dad and wee sister and watching crappy films on the tellybox.
Today I've done all my food shopping, raaar!! I'm waiting for the kids to go to sleep so I can start wrapping and figure out what I still need to buy.
Tomorrow I'm going shopping for the final pressies, first time ever I've left it this late! I'm sure I should be more worried!
Xmas day it'll be bacon sarnies, pressies and eventually dinner. Then Mike is taking the girls out for the afternoon/evening to his family so I shall be on my todd, eating too much, drinking snowballs and hugging the cat!
Boxing day Mikes parents are coming over (dont ask!! I have no idea either!) but it'll be a nice day. I'm off the rest of the week so it'll be even more food/drink/being merry! :)
This has all come wayyyy too quick. Tomorrow I'll be sanding the walls and heading down B&Q for some Polyfilla. I will probably wash the ceiling for prep work as well. That and sanding the woodwork will take most of the day.
Xmas, well head over to parents and have xmas meal. Will get my nds charged up as i'm off to see family in the evening. Discussing how you've managed to get a house and all these benefits out of the council is not my topic of choice :/ I won't be driving, hopefully copious amounts of single malt and a nap in the chair will kill the evening off. Some of you have met moped Nick, Nick is the most tame (and intellectual) :( Quite tempted to bugger off for a pint with the sis.
Boxing day, for once the chav scum aren't coming over o/ Wooo!! My mum is really relieved and we can have a nice day for once.

Today - Woke up with a bitch of a hangover and drove to my parents in Birmingham this evening. Been back for two hours and already bored out of my mind so working my way through their beer supply.
Tomorrow - Crawl out of bed as late as I can get away with and then do bugger all. Head to the pub with my best mate (only person I really know in Brum now) in the evening for a few pints.
Christmas day - Start drinking at 10am courtesy of my mums home made Baileys and don't stop till Dr Who comes on :) There may be some food and presents in there somewhere
Boxing day - Bored, bored, bored. Will probably end up working just to amuse myself
27th - Supposed to be back in work so I'll be "working" from home. Uncle is coming up to Brum to pick my Gran up so will have beers and a curry in the evening. The only bit of Christmas I'm looking forward to.
28th - Back to Cambridge and work
29th-30th - Smoke, drink and watch TV
31st - heading up to Newcastle for New Year :D
1st - Wonder why my head hurts
2nd - Return to Cambridge
3rd-4th - Use the remainder of this years holiday to do bugger all ;D
Today - Cleaned kitchen then went to parents for Sunday dinner with Aunt/Uncle/Grandparents/Parents.
Tomorrow - Clean lounge/rest of house and then prepare for evening meal I'm cooking for parents/grandparents. Squeeze a trip to the gym in there somehow [edit]It's bloody closed. Boooo!!!!!
Christmas Day - Parents for pressie opening/christmas dinner/etc. and then home to eat cheese and crackers and drink wine, watching Mr & Mrs Smith on Film4 :D
Boxing Day - 30th - Off to Swansea to see Leon's family and some random interweb peoples
30th - HOME!!!!!!
31st - GYM!!!!!!! and then DD's in the evening.
1st - Relax.
2nd - Back to work :(

Well the stir fry tonight was one of the best I've done for a few months :)
Change of plan tomorrow...
Due to me thinking I was cooking for 4 tonight (when it was actually only 2) I have lots of chicken left over...
As such then we are no longer having pizza tomorrow evening.
I shall be cooking chicken escolapes (sp?) and chips while me and my sister enjoy 'Honey I shrunk the Kids' and 'Love Actually' (to get into the chrimble mood)...
I am so glad I have a lot of wine in the rack :D

Tomorrow - lazy day is planned. We're sick of doing work on the house, so tomorrow will be a sweat pants and t-shirt day, doing nothing but watching films, eating too much, and playing various board/computer games. Beer will likely be involved somewhere.
Christmas Day - nipping around to see my Dad, Brother, Sister and Niece in the morning, before spending a relaxing day with Lynnie and her mum.
Boxing Day - going around with Lynnie and her mum to have food at Lynnie's sister. Not entirely looking forward to this (neither is Lynnie!) but I'm sure it'll be more fun than we think it will be.

Oh yeah...
New Years Eve I'm wandering over to Wellington's place to spend an enchanting evening with him and his family and some other friends :)
New Years Day I'm trying to figure out how to get home and recover for work the next day
Christmas != New Year so I didn't say NY plans cos I expected a "What you doing for NY" thread on Boxing day :D But yes, Edinberger again \o/ *prays for snow* I can't wait for Hogmany. Seen it on TV so many times and always wanted to go. Don't expect any potatoes either because I won't be taking camera.

Must say I'm a little jealous of the people spending time at peoples houses over New Year..... Last few years a group of 10-15 of us have rented a cottage in the middle of nowhere (last year Welsh coast, year before Oban) played party games and got pished and they have been the best New Years. This year I am out in Newcastle which should be pretty darn good but I don't think it'll live up to Newcastle New Years of 2001/2/3 which were just mental.
At New Year house party ftw

So far its been getting drunk (I call it catching up :)) with lots of different friends i haven't seen in a while. Recovering the next day. Except today is different, because i should now be shopping finishing off (well starting almost) my christmas shopping. Raging hangover is not helping, but it's got to be done!
Everything's quite pleasant at work today - everybody seems a lot happier which helps. :)

Yeah I knocked off 2 hours early - all my clients had gone home anyway and I only took 2 inbound calls all day.
Unfortunately for the frontline guys some of them have to stay until 7 tonight, taking maybe 1 call every 20 minutes or so. Wounder.

We're all experts in buying small things or bargains so for a fairly modest amount, we manage to pack in a lot ;D
Yours looks cool though, all big boxes. Always the most exciting \o/
I'll try to take a photo tomorrow :D
I've just got home! Woohooo! 2 days holiday! \o/  :D

This has all come wayyyy too quick. Tomorrow I'll be sanding the walls and heading down B&Q for some Polyfilla. I will probably wash the ceiling for prep work as well. That and sanding the woodwork will take most of the day.
Well that was the plan, about 30 secs into the sanding I realised there was no way in hell I can do that at the mo :( So I spent the day generally doing very little, bar playing C&C 3 o/
Today I have spent the day lazing about getting very little done. I have hurt my neck somehow which sucks a bit but there we go.
Tomorrow I will be lazing about the house until I am needed to help in the kitchen. Then I will help out for a bit and eat the results before getting on with whatever crops up.
26th I think I will be going to my cousin's house for food and stuff with the family.
27th will be a day of gaming I think, unsure at the moment!
28th will be a day/night of getting very, very drunk.
Nothing then until NYE when I will be partying my socks off :D
Back in work on the 2nd so that will be the end of my holidays :(
Guitar Hero 3 watched, silly games played, tickets for tomorrow sorted :)
