View Full Version : Christmas Spirit
Just been surprised by an extremely late Postal delivery just now.
The last few days my Mum's been worrying because some parcels haven't arrived in time for Christmas. Just had a knock at the door and there's the postman in the pouring rain extremely apologetic.
Turned out he'd finished his delivery this morning, went shopping in Swansea, then when he went to load his car with shopping realised there was a small bundle of parcels for this address.
So he drove out here to deliver them because as he said, they're obviously for tomorrow.
What a nice bloke. :) I know it was his mistake but i'm sure others might not have gone out of their way to make sure it got there today.

That was nice of him :)
Aw :) Thats really nice of him.
That was really nice of him. :) Nice to see that some parts of the UK are feeling Christmassy.
I have to say that it really doesn't feel it here... There just doesn't seem to be that "feel" of Christmas - maybe I'm getting old...
Anyway your thread's cheered me up - great to see there is some Christmas spirit around :)
he was after a tip :p
:p If I'd thought of it, he'd have got one too probably.
The regular postman got a tip last week but this guy usually just does parcels so he got missed out somewhere.
Was very nice though, made me all Christmassy too :D

Citylink guy who turned up this morning was in quite a good mood and wished my a merry chrimble after he'd delivered.
I was flumoxed for but a moment and then replied in kind :)
And this was before I had a beer!
Our postman is a legend. He's about a hundred years old and posts stuff through the wrong doors but he's got one of those faces you can't get angry with.
Our postie is great. Because we only moved across the road, he deliveres all post with our names on to our house, despite the wrong nmber being on it. Saved a fortune in re-direction costs especially as I'd have had to pay business rates on one of the addresses.
We gave him some choccies :)
Am I the only one who thought this thread was going to be about alcohol? :o
I ordered something from Powerplay end of November. Then beginning of december they refunded my money :/ so I googled for a contact number (obviously there isn't one on the website) and found out (after going through the claims dept and being asked a few times how I managed to get a number) they had tried to deliver three times and no answer so gets sent back to PP and order refunded.
Hmm... so I thought I never got carded this isn't really on... and that there was no reason why if I had got carded could I have taken a day off work to receive it.
Anyway I was reasonably nice to the guy on the phone and managed to convince him to send it to my work address. Fine I thought.
Nothing arrived, two days later after the call, I call again to find out that no one had sent it out and it was still in the warehouse. Ok I should get it the next day.
Next Day I receive the order and ITS THE WRONG ONE!!! Its GH2 and not GH3 :( ARGGHHH!!! So I send it back and the same guy (Tim) says he'll send out the correct one... the last words that I say to him before he puts the phone down are.. 'are you sure its my work address???'
I wait. No delivery (19th Dec). Am also ill so can do without all this hassle tbh. But I wait as maybe its because it is Christmas - Nothing... I call on 20th. Turns out... after 10mins to call centre staff (Direct line to Tim isn't working and I later find out he is out of the office that day and is the only one dealing with the web orders :/) so I speak to Mark after insisting to the call centre claims staff that I would like to speak to a Manager as this is going to turn into a complaint shortly... they really didn't want me to speak to anyone.
My manager is actually shocked at how restrained I was on the phone.... an improvement for me, this time last year I would be effing and blinding...
Anyway spoke to Mark, who found out that the GH3 attempted delivery to my... yup home address... not work and they will attempt redelivery on the 21st... ok so on the friday I go home at lunchtime (last day, am ill anyway and no one is doing any work...) and wait all afternoon (I got home at 1245) no delivery.
Call Mark back and he puts it on a sat delivery... and ironically their office is in Eastbourne, which is near my parents... he also tracks one down in his office and gives me direct line contact numbers to people who will be in the office on the sat and the monday. So ensuring that I will get it for Christmas.
Of course they didn't deliver on the saturday,
Monday my dad went and picked it up for me... I gave him a bottle of wine and card to give to Tim and Mark.
I am amazed they went out of their way to help me get the bloody thing!!! May people would have just said. 'Sorry mam we tried to deliver and couldn't...tough'.
My dad is also the best ;)
Its a shame because by using City Link they are busting their name... CL don't card drop... well so I thought, then after spending an afternoon in my flat I realised why I prob wouldn't have gotten carded.. I don't have a postbox in the entrance hall :/ and I doubt the courier would have been there early enough or thought to have gotten in by pressing the trades button... ooops... oh well... Thing is CL deffo didn't deliver on the fri afternoon or on the Saturday, even after I got the email confirmation for a Sat upgrade from Mark... they are a joke honestly...nevermind the non carding... they could have left it in the door or something.
Just hope Roberto likes it!!!
