I'm beginning to think I'm going to be one of those complaining grannies who whinges about anything :( but recently I have had to complain about a couple of things:

a) M&S rice pudding pots: Had one one eve... nom nommy and then Rob put the other one in the Microwave the next evening and it came out with a cm2 amount of mould on it :( I emailed M&S and they told me to take it back, where I had to fill in a form and I got my money back.

b) Impulse Body Spray: Quite a big brand, high quality stuff you think? Don't expect it to squirt out into your hand when you are spraying it? Emailed them, kept the can, didn't have to send can back, just send the batch number.

Got a £3 voucher for any Unilever product, except two letters arrived on the same day, signed by the same person both with a £3 voucher in it :) result!

c) BT: They took out 3 x monthly line rental charges on the 20th December (of all months!!!!) because the charging system for all their online customers had broken in October and only started working again in December so caught up on the payments it didn't take in oct and nov.

I made the mistake of calling the call centre in the eve who said it was my banks fault, so I called HSBC in the morning who of course said it was BT's fault... I was insistent to know why this had happened and then suddenly the girl on the end of the line was in tears  I wasn't that scary (so I thought) and colleagues in the office said I was fine... but I upset her somehow and apologised... shes going to get worse callers than me poor girl...anyway I called BT again and they said for the inconvenience they would refund me £10 in my Jan bill (yeah - we'll see).

d) Pizza Express: I emailed them to say that I was very sad that they had taken Pollo Con Funghi off the menu...and that was a bad move ;) (PCF is made with Bechamel sauce and not tomato, and was my Fave pizza at PE) they emailed me back to say that this was because they change their winter and spring menu... how overjoyed was I that it was back when I ate there the other night?! :D

e) Powerplay: Story here (http://www.boat-drinks.co.uk/showpost.php?p=172578&postcount=13) Proof that being nice to people you can get what you want ;) also that I didn't want to pay an extra £20 in the shops...

Anyway... after all that rant my point is... sometimes its good to send back some feedback ;)

Anyone else complained? Or is it just me, Whinging Minnie ;) ???

Nope, I have no problems in expressing my displeasure if things aren't as I think they should be.

It's good that you stand your ground. Absolutely imperative! A lot of retail, shops and so on are out to **** you, all they want is your money. You have to protect yourself when you don't get what you ask for. I'm very similar, I will complain about things, write letters, log telephone calls etc until I get the resolution I want not what is offered to me. There are too many people that are push overs. In social environments I am much more soft, but when it comes to people that I don't know or care about I will be less than pleasant - however I gauge the tack I use depending on the situation, as you say sometimes being charming and nice works, and other times being a bitch helps! :D It's usually food, wine in restaurants that I tend to complain about, oh and bus lane and parking tickets (I haven't paid one to date \o/  ), oh and I write to my local MP a lot... Actually I'm a right grumpy bastard really! :o

Good on you Mei. :)

That's like asking if the Pope is a Catholic, Of course i moan, Apparently only my mate Bobby D moans as much as me
I still haven't lived my returning of chips incident down in Skeggy :p
I am really cool with shop staff though & a happy friendly kind of shopper. If it's wrong or faulty though i am not. I take Everything personally & if they are trying to **** me over they have to deal with me personally as well.

I'm quite easy going so tend not to complain too much, although I don't think I normally have too much reason to complain most of the time. If I can see somebody is trying to get one over on me then I'd stand my ground. If it's a genuine mistake and they're happy to put it right then I'm happy. I can't stand call centres these days as people just seem to not care and nothing gets sorted, they're the ones where I tend to lose my rag a bit.

If need be, I always complain.....but then the opposite is also true and I'm the first up to bat when I think praise is in order. As for your comment above I couldn't agree more as so many people think that expressing your disappointment involves going mental over the phone.
Example

I had a problem with my O2 billing in that they decided in their infinite wisdom to forget about my inclusive minutes/texts and bill me for the lot. I call them up, calmly explain the situation and that I'm less than impressed about it and the gal in the call centre goes through all of my details to identify the problem then rectify it. There was even some flirty banter between us throughout the call.....which was nice. The fault is fixed, my account is reimbursed including the cost of the call to them plus a little more for my trouble, so I'm a happy bear, but what really put a smile on my face was when I received an email confirming that everything has been fixed she had not only signed it at the bottom, but added an "x".

Now, all I have to do is figure out which call centre she works at.....:p

Sometimes I'll stand my ground over something but more often than not I'll let stuff go. That said I had a hair in my sorbet at Lakeside yesterday and I took it back. Power to the people!!!

I had something similar with T-Mobile. I had to ring them up a little while ago over a Webnwalk query and the girl on the phone sounded immensely hot, even though she was welsh! She also sent me an email and signed it off in a quite flirty manner. If she wasnt so far away I might have tried it on! :p

Hmmm glad to know I'm not the only one! ;)

Hee hee... of course I do take time to thank or send good feedback too. Even at work if its about a colleague who I think has changed for the better, people are too easy to rush in with criticism these days.

I'm the same. If I hve received bad service, i will report it, but I will also take the time to report good or exceptional service too. Even if I am writing a complaint but there was a member of staff who dealt with things well, I would put that in my complaint letter.

Funnily enough she was scottish. ;)
Really nice gal by the way, so the next day I phoned the customer service line and heaped some praise her way for going the extra mile to help me out.

I don't complain to the people who need complaining at nearly enough. I just whinge to my mates instead :o
