View Full Version : Little mouse!

Since christmas I have become aware that I am sharing my kitchen with a little mouse. I had my suspicions confirmed when I saw him whip behind the cooker one day hoping I hadn't spotted him. He has since been spotted by my youngest son.

Aslan the kitten is now free to wander the house so it won't be long until little mousey is cat food. Knowing this we have set a trap for him twice - a glass bottle on a slant with muesli at the bottom. Naughty mousey appears to have suckers on his feet as he managed to get out and scattered muesli about the kitchen as thanks. Naughty!

Since that didn't work I have just ordered these:

http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/humane-mouse-trap-single-p-694.html

so hope to have mousey soon. Unless they're rubbish of course.

And so starts Mouse Watch.

Aslan likes watching football on the tv. He watches the ball going back and forth. He also lets me cuddle him occasionally when he's feeling kind and likes to sleep behind my knees at night which means I get far more sleep than when he was sat on my head!

Mouse Watch news so far - we're not sure what sort of mouse we have here yet due to it being a nippy bugger so we've had no clear sighting. Have had field mice in before so it will be like surprise present opening the trap should we catch him!

Humane traps baited with peanut butter and ready to go.

I'm now expecting a Tom and Jerry-esque scene with Aslan sat next to the trap waiting for little mousey. :)

We had a mouse for an hour or so a few nights ago :D

http://www.the-sps.org/showthread.php?t=4788 < it's friendly enough till about post 59 and then in SPS fashion goes downhill.

My lovely cat decided to bring in a present for us, pretty much unharmed :)

Downhill? Complete turn-off more like (no insult intended to the owner or mods there). One of the reasons I have no interest in signing up there but that's another topic and this is the wrong forum.

Up to that point an interesting read. LOL at MB's knowledge of cookers. Also didn't know about Merlin so I'm sorry to hear about that. :(

God, that forum is a shambles. Does anything stay on topic apart from the arguments?

I remember being in my friends flat and seeing a little mouse eating his riveta, it was really cute. But it died.
Working in B&Q we sold a lot of mousetraps of all kinds, i was told by most people that the sonic deterrents were rubbish and that most humane traps where ok but you need to check them every day (they have a habit of dying in them). Also if they do work and you have a little mousie, don't just put it outside your door in your garden, take it as far away as you can. It will be back.

As he's in the kitchen traps will be checked every few hours. The kids can hardly wait as it is.

I'll be taking mousey right across the road to all the fields behind the garage.

Well then, you should be ok unless he knows the green cross code.

We have mouse!

Beck was very excited to find the trap full of mouse this morning. We all had a good look at him and then he was released into the fields. Beck named him Mr Cutey Squiggles.

Have you got any food dye? Put a small dab on its back. That'll tell you if it's a homing mouse :D

FOUR MICE?! Oh my word!!!

When we had mices at my parents it used to freak me out.... esp as I'm one of those people who needs dead silence to drop off to sleep and it doesn't help when you hear a rustle rustle in a plastic bag lining your bin...

Or coming in at 3am after a night on the lash....turning the kitchen light on and mousey runs across the room... scream? did I ****!

So scared!!!
