View Full Version : 360 games like Tomb Raider?
I have all 1000 points for Tomb Raider Legends and I'm currently playing through Anniversary (Original Tomb Raider Redux), which is also superb. I love the puzzle solving and the added playability through time trials and relic collection.
Are there any similar games along this line that might have passed me by?
I can't think of one :/
Sorry, I thought I'd reply so you knew no one was ignoring you :p
I was wondering!
It seems odd that no-one has made anything even remotely similar except for the short-winded Indiana Jones attempts years back. The closest thing I've seen recently is probably that new Indy-style PS3 game I saw advertised, but then I'm not going to grab a PS3 on the basis of that!
Fingers crossed they release a new TR game soonish then...
Yeah I instantly thought of Uncharted for the PS3 but not much help for you.
it is weird there's no Tomb Raider style game about, they used to be so popular

I can't think of anything either I'm afraid, except as you say the one on the PS3 (which admittedly does look good). I'm surprised no-one has done anything similar, it's a genre which leaves a lot open for developered to use their imagination and create great game worlds to explore.
Just found a great way of getting replayability out of the game. Cut to dashboard when partway through a game and corrupt the saved rewards. It completely forgot I'd done Croft Manor, including time trials, and removed all the relics and artifacts I'd collected in the entire game. Wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't got quite so close to getting the achievements for getting them all on certain levels. Pain in the arse.
It has to be a fundamental error with the game when there's only a single save for rewards. Once it's corrupted that's it - you have to redo the lot. I was just lucky that I had a save game right on the very last cut scene of the last level, otherwise I would have had to unlock the levels again. Unfortunately if it happens again I'll have to start it from that save again because once you've finished the game you can't save when replaying the levels. So that means all time trials, relics, and artifacts are reset and Croft Manor goes back to being locked. And most annoying of all, you can't start Croft Manor on time trial so you have to finish it once, then do it all over again! Still, I guess I'm improving my skills for the four rock hard achievements - finish the four levels without dying. Now that's tough.

You could e-bay Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine for PC. It's old but Gold.
I believe I have it somewhere, probably on floppies or something! I'm betting that game is why they introduced the grapple in Tomb Raider - to replicate the idea of using the whip to get across big gaps.
Edit: Ooooooh. http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/indianajones/index.html
Edit 2: Tomb Raider Underworld due out at the end of the year!

The time trial for one of these levels is 34 minutes, which I did with 8 seconds to spare. It's basically a deep shaft full of ledges with four big puzzle rooms behind doors that you have to open with levers. Trying for the achievement without dying, got three of the four puzzles on about my fifth attempt then died going to the fourth thanks to the one glitchy ledge that pretty much ignores the auto-grab. Gah!
Edit: Oh, and this is one level of fifteen - you have to finish the entire country (3-4 levels) to get the achievement. :/
At the risk of this becoming my own little thread... I did it! Had a quick go at midnight last night and somehow got through it. Only ten levels to go!
Edit: And it only took me about ten seconds longer to complete than when I did it on the time trial.
Played dude :)
Saw this and thought of you (or rather this thread):

Could be good. I guess the storyline will only run in the game up to the same point we've reached in the series though. Not sure I'd buy it at full price but could make a nice stop-gap between finishing this TR game and the next (+ Indy).
