View Full Version : Lost - Season 4
New season starts Sunday on sky 1 at 9pm.
Bit of a bugger because I still haven't watched the last half of season 3 :o I was planning on watching all of it next weekend so I'll have to tape it Sunday and save it until after my catchup :o
Hooray! About pissing time and all. Maybe this series we'll actually find something out!

Doesn't this season do flash-forwards now?

I'll be doing what I did last time, waiting till its half way through and then grabing the first half of the series off newsgroups. TBH Lost is starting to lose interest for me, roll on the new series of BSG

roll on the new series of BSG
When is that starting? I finally managed to finish season 3 but have forgotten what happened :o
Did you see Razor?
Have they already started airing in the states or are we starting together for a change?
Oh exciting! We are 'on a break' from the fantastic Sopranos and need another series to fill the gap :)

Will be in Russia on Sunday so will have to wait until I get back :(
Finished season 3 :D
Lent my manager the first 2 eps of season 4 and she isn't going to be back at work for a while so I'm getting them from elsewhere and will catch up completely soon :)
The end of season 3 confuzzled me:
We know they were having flash forwards rather than flash backs, but at one point Jack is shouting at the other doctor and says "go up to my fathers office, if I am drunker than he is then you can fire me" but we know his father is dead :/
I also missed whos funeral/viewing it was that Jack went to
There's speculation about those spoilers here:

Interesting ideas - thanks :)
I quite like how 4's started, stuff's happening but they're still dangling carrots as usual.
Need to re-watch the end of 3 really, Moyles was on about it the other day and I just couldn't remember the detail of what happened.
That was the best episode so far. Desmond episodes always rock!
Edit: In fact, if you've never seen an episode before, watch this one as a standalone. It won't be quite as good but it makes a great short story. :)
I agree. It was really well done and the end was lovely. Classic Lost though. Its adding more questions while hinting at answers.
that last episode was too confusing. love it though :D
it did however seem better explained than most of the 'crazy' ideas that come out in these episodes.

we just watched them all in one go - it's sooooo brain hurty.
Especially now loads of dead dudes are reappearing :/
Loved the Desmond episode too :)
Have we hit a little season break now after episode 8?
Anybody still watching this? Watched the last couple of episodes last night (keeping to the yank schedule's not Sky, so 1 ahead) - episode 11 ended a bit random.
What the hell's going on with Clare then?!
Yup still watching. Its still just as good as ever imho but the ratings have dropped drastically. Theres been some fantastic episodes this season. The one with Ben a couple of weeks ago for example.
Oh aye, think I said before there's a good sense of pace to this series, I haven't felt left in limbo at all like I have done previously. I've probably enjoyed this series just as much if not more than the first one, so far anyway.
I think it's just getting better and better, though it does make my brain ache. It's a few episodes ago now but....
Did anyone notice the significant date on Jins headstone? ;)
I didnt, no! That's the second time you've impressed me with your eagle eye, the first being:
Spotting 'Jacob' in the cabin first time round!
What was the date then? :D
I have a newfound respect for Benjamin Linus after that incident in the desert. Mad props.
I loved the little bit last week.
Hurley and Ben sharing a chocolate bar.
I loved the little bit last week...
I don't remember that at all. How odd.
Snip
The date of birth is correct (no surprises there), the date of death on the headstone is the date of the flight 815 crash. Now that just leads to more questions!
Cheers Mubs, curious indeed!
I don't remember that at all. How odd.
You downloading or watching on Sky?
Sky. I thought new US episodes only came out on the Thursday before?
Plus another week I'm afraid - you'll see Pete's snippet on Sunday, along with mine - sorry if I wasn't clear about that :(
Doh. Not a huge spoiler though. :)
Hurley eating a chocolate bar is no spoiler.

How is that for a strange theory :)
I loved the little bit last week.
Hurley and Ben sharing a chocolate bar.
I pointed this out to Lom and said Hurley only did it so Ben would taste of chocolate when he ate him.;D

*This post contains conceptual spoliers and a small amount of context for them*
Hmmmmm
That does fit with some of my ideas but I'm not keen on the game concept as just a 'game', mostly because its just a bit crap and I feel that the writers would have come up with something a bit better.
Right now I have two takes on the 'island' either; a) The island is God, not a concious God but one which operates on a different level not comprehending of human interactions but a creator which can effect things if drawn upon in the right way. (This links in with a later concept)
b) That the island is alien or future 'tech', events in recent episodes and the 'tech' which is on the island (often more advanced than in the real world i.e. the sonic fence, the magnetic resonator in the bunker and most importantly the smoke monster (which I believe is a nanobot swarm)) make this is feisable concept.
My secondary idea which fits with this is the idea of a 'battle' or 'contest' or 'model' fought out for control of the island and possiby for a greater cause, to either settle a dispute or for control, almost like playing chess rather than having a war a sample of people have been brought together to settle something rather than having the world destroy itself, if the island is 'God' then this would work as it could be a battle between straight good and evil for control of 'God' if the idland is 'tech' then it culd be a test to see if we are ready to recieve the wisdom of a)the future (which works with the idea of time travel) or b) an alien race.
Recently we have seen the return of various passenger to the outside world, but this bothers me hugely. To me there is something wrong with pretty much every scene where this is represented except the scenes on the boat. It's as if there is something wrong with the lighting the 'real' world doesn't seem real and this bothers me. The storylines with Siead and Sun are just too clean cut to be real, Siead's journey to europe and the golf course scene come to mind. I suspect this isn't being played out in the real world but I could be wrong.
I'm very much looking forward to next weeks double which is the last in the series, I thought Lost had 'lost' its way but its drawn me back in just in time to keep me watching the next series.

I'm pretty sure the writers had no idea where things were going up until even the end of series 3. There was probably a general concept and an idea of how they needed to end it but were just padding things, especially with series 2 where there seemed to be a lot of irrelevant episodes that I'm sure overall will turn out to have added to the story but didn't progress it. It was only when we got the first flash-forward that I reckon the writers decided enough was enough; time to start ending it.
That was all down to one simple thing. They had been told when the show would end, so they could then properly plan the series out. No more filler, actual content. Without an end in sight how can you properly plan for it? Babylon 5 worked great because it was structured that way. 5 years, no more. Lost could have been continously great if they'd done the same. Its why there's the change around mid S3 and the ending of S3.
All I know is, I'm bloody confused. Every time I think I know what's happening, something comes along to change my theory. :D
Tell me someone has seen episode 12 (shown in the states last Friday).
Such a good episode, and setup beautifully for the finale - gutted I have to wait another week for it. So many things going on, real edge of seat stuff at the end of this one.
I know it looked like it in the last episode, but I was still shocked when (this really is a spoiler) it turned out that guy in the cabin was Jack's dad..... Clare's dad.....Bro and sis :| Nice touch in the flash forward too, grandma meeting grandchild.
Just awesome.
I have. One more week to wait.
The bit where Jack finally found out was superb. Imagine that crashing down on you. You've just spent 108 days on an island with your sister but never knew. She might be dead now for all we know. I take it Jack's Dad is "alive" because his dead body crashed there with them. I caught the first episode where he appeared and it showed the coffin was empty. It doesn't look like Jack finally has a real chat with him till long after they've left the island though. Sure he's seen him about a bit but just glimpses. I'm guessing that with this revelation he'll meet his Dad and have a chat. This will drive him insane as we saw in S3 finale making him so desperate to go back.
we found the bold bit out aaaagggggeeeesss ago didn't we??
Sorry, worded badly, meant it was a shocking moment - the way he found out :) Just finished watching it and splurged out of my head badly :D
Ok, so correct me if I'm wrong...
What we saw at the end of S3 (Kate and Jack), jack was drinking because of his Dad, Kate 'had to go because he's waiting' (think that's what she said) was the baby. Who'f funeral was it then? At the time I had a punt at Locke but that cant be right, at least at the moment.
I really need to see that S3 finale again. I might watch it this week in place of the missing episode.
"He" has to be the baby. Wasn't the funeral for someone from New York? In theory it could be anyones. Delayed funeral by the family for someone on the flight. Now they know whoever is definitely dead they can have a funeral. Could be Locke. I think the coffin size would instantly suggest its Hurley which it didn't seem to be. I think I saw on a forum that it's for Michael. Maybe he does something to save someone and Jack is paying his respects, despite what Michael did. He's unrelated to the flight in a way.
Just seen the finale. Really very very good. Thrilling stuff. Just hate that we have to wait till Jan 09 to see more.
Ben: Yes John, time travelling bunnies
what about us virgin customers?
Everyone. They have to film the episodes.
Aye, great ending - compare that to the end of season 1 and it's just so much more satisfying, but as you say, totally begging for more.
I'm surprised they actually let you see the island disappearing, because they're now going to have to explain it reasonably credibly and I'm not sure how they're going to do it.
Be interesting to see how next series starts - will we see as many flash backs/forwards now?
I suppose the 64000 dollar question now is when/how/why Locke left the island!
Yeah thats the thing about S5. Will we even see anything from the islanders? They might skip it all together till S6 which is when I expect them to get back. Ben said that the person who moves the island can't go back, so I guess Locke left by another method since Ben said they have to take him back too. Did Saiyd kill him, and if so why? I'm guessing he could only be killed because the island had no use for him since he's come back from being shot by Ben and everything.
As for the island moving, yeah god knows how they'll explain that. What was Ben using to move it? Why was it so cold there? Loved Ben in that episode though. Time travelling bunnies, the way he was just so cold about killing that guy and really didn't care that he killed loads of innocent people to get his revenge and then after all that to see how upset he was about having to leave the island. You could see that it meant so much to him and yet he knew what he had to do to protect it despite the cost.
This is exactly what i was thinking (finale spoilerish) (http://hijinksensue.com/comics/2008-05-30-lost-finale.jpg)
Did you see the alternate endings they filmed dude?
*Massive spoilers*

Woah. God I love that the writers know there are people out there who love these little things and that they go to the effort to put them in. They could have had anything in there but they chose to put that in. Awesome :D I did see the alt endings. I read on another forum that it would have been ace to see the polar bear there :D
