Last MINI oil service cost £0 and I got a free cup of coffee :)
Next one will be £0 and the few after that.

Of course this isn't ideal for everyone because it does mean you have to drive a MINI :D

Tyres aren't cheap either :/

Jesus!! What size tyres are they?

Tyres were one of the few things that I never worried about on my Elise. £250 for a set and they'd last 15k+ miles

That would kill me that would, I'd buy 3 motors for that amount & sell them all on for Profit ;)

Stratos.

I had the pleasure of spending the day thrashing one with it's owner about 8 months ago and completely wore out a set - canvas was viewable on the rears. :D

However, the tyres are pretty specific. Michelin TB15 tarmac rally tyres. Effectively semi slicks.

Mine is still about 2 years away form needing tyres. :( Can barely drive at the moment though so workign on a car is not possible.

Brand spanking new set of Good Year Wrangler AT's for the Blazer and an oil change was just a hair over $300. P235/75R15's. But I do remember trying to find tyres for the Saab 900 we had in California. They were 390mm diameter. Only one brand, one model, one size available. $266 a tyre PLUS mounting and balancing. And of course since they were an odd size and on aluminium rims, the mounting was $60 a tyre.

Oh, and the warranty on them? There wasn't one. The minute they went on the car, I was on my own with them.

Oh, and just in case anyone feels put out buying tyres, I'll remind you of my Jeep. $1,750 for the complete set. Mind you, that was for all 5 of them...

Good old TRX wheels. The odd set comes up on ebay for a huge amount of money stating "Rare!! You hardly ever see these on cars". Yeah, because the last tyres for them were made about 1990!

Last time I bought new tyres I got a good discount. As it happened we needed a few at the same time, so rang round all the local places with a list:

8 Morris Minor tyres
5 Saab tyres (not metric!)
4 Metro tyres (Metric!)

Took two cars and a pile of wheels down and left them there all day.

Something like 30% discount :D

Thinking of using this as an opportunity to change wheels for CSL ones ( mine have a few small corrosion marks on them ) , thinking it over :)
