What of your team now?
Here's mine:
Fav player?
Spurs! the only decent team in north London
Why?
Family come from a long line of Spurs supporters as we lived in Edmonton and Cheshunt. The training ground used to be up the road from where I lived until they moved. Ground is now Tescos haha.
For How long?
Since I can remember!
First game?
I can't remember, it was during the 70s when we were in the old division 2 for a season and it was cheap. I remember the first game I went to on my own. It was v Chelsea in 1981, a few weeks before the cup final. We won 4-0 iirc.
Most memorable game?
Two spring to mind. The UEFA cup final v Anderlecht in 1984. Everyone remembers this game for Tony Parks penalty save but it was Roberts equaliser that sent the all stadium into orbit. I really thought the stand was going to collapse.
The other was to be the FA cup semi v Arsenal 91. With only one defeat all season, Arsenal were tipped for the double but Paul Gascoigne had other ideas. Linker got 2 and we beat them 3-1. Shame that 2 seasons later the Donkey got his revenge so soon.
Worst game?
FA Cup v Port vale.
Fav player?
Chris Waddle - Thanks Newcastle. Shame he never played with both Gasgoigne and Lineker. Gutted when he left but he surely was a supeb player.
What of your tem now?
After 2 great seasons, the bubble burst. I'm sure it happened for a reason. When i heard about MJ's fitness training.. which was non-existent, things started to make sense as to why they never lasted for than 60 minutes. A bit like myself :D
Although we've had problem in defence this season, relying too much on King coming back to fitness, we look fitter and more robust than we've looked in ages. The defence looked diciplined this weekend and we were soo unlucky (Man U). I'm hoping we will see better times ahead. Sometimes we all need a step back to progress.
Com'n you Spurs!!!!!
Your Team?
If someone sat me down and explained I'd be shot if I didn't support a team: Spurs.
Why?
Half my family come from that part of London, the other half come from West Ham, and they have horrid colours.
For How long?
Since before birth.
First game?
Yet to happen.
Most memorable game?
Er, 5-1 against Arsewipe I think I heard recently?
Worst game?
Every other game?
Fav player?
I couldn't name a single player from the last decade, so I'll gow ith Hoddle, to pair with Huddy.
What of your team now?
Are they above West Ham? If so, good.

Your Team?
Man Utd
Why?
They were in the first game I watched at age 4, can't remember who they played though.
For How long?
17 years now
First game?
vs Spurs....guess which one Huddy :(
Most memorable game?
Champions League Final '99. No further explanation needed.
Worst game?
In recent memory, vs Wolves. Worst I saw was the same Spurs game I first attended
Fav player?
Schmeichel, being a goalkeeper, I had no other choice really.
What of your tem now?
The last 1 1/2 seasons have been great, apart from some bad results against bottom teams. We've got an incredible amount of young talent now, not far different from the 99 team.
Our defence is rock solid 99% of the time, which hasn't happend since Schmeichel left, because we finally have a top quality keeper. We will win the league this year, and if not, I really hope Chelsea don't.
Your Team?
Celtic
Why?
family and friends were all Celtic daft growing up
For How long?
i'm sure i had some sort of celtic bibs or baby grows.
First game?
against dundee united, must have been 5 or 6. i was cold and wanted to go home the entire time
Most memorable game?
celtic - Hibs scottish cup final replay at ibrox. i got hit by a car driven by a hibs fan.
Worst game?
getting pumped by inver cali thistle
Fav player?
of the current lineup i'm pretty clueless tbh. all time would be jorge cadete
What of your tem now?
arsing about in the scottish league doing that dance we've been doing with rangers over the past few years. got some champions league banter comming up, that should be a giggle at least.

Blimmy.. Did spurs win? If so that was way back in 99 I thought.4-1 :(
Horses head in the post!
Does that mean they are or they aren't? :o
And does the head come with wall fixings?
I don't have a team and I really wish I did :( Which probably sounds daft.
I love watching football these days, especially when England's playing but I miss not having a team to root for week in week out. Unfortunately, there's no family tradition for a team so i miss out there.
When I was a kid, I went through periods of supporting loads of different teams but a lot of the time I was just glory hunting really :o
I envy you lot :p
Your Team?
Liverpool
Why?
I was born there and most of my family are from there. Not sure how I ended up red rather than blue though as my dad and brother are both Evertonians.
For How long?
As long as I can remember
First game?
Not sure, I moved away from Liverpool when I was only a few months old so didn't get the opportunity to go very often. My grandad (another bluenose) used to take me occasionally when we were up there visiting and I've got vague memories of a 3-1 win at Goodison and I had a programme from an Arsenal game at Anfield that I must have been at. The Panini Football '86 sticker album had a page of programme covers from each of the first division sides and the Liverpool one was the same Arsenal programme that I had so I'm guessing the game must have been in 85.
Most memorable game?
Champions League Final 2005
Worst game?
26th May 1989
Fav player?
Ian Rush (Random fact. He was sticker number 132 in the aforementioned football '86 album and the last sticker I needed to complete the Liverpool page. 132 has been 'my' number ever since along with 23 which was the shirt number given to most of Liverpools hot youth prospects in recent years.)
What of your team now?
Having our traditional mid-season slump which will come to an end as suddenly as it started when we inexplicably play Inter Milan off the park in a couple of weeks time. We'll then have a stunning run of form until the end of the season and still end up fourth.

Your Team?
England :D
Why?
Couldn't get excited about local teams but I love the atmosphere you get with a national team.
For How long?
As long as I can remember!
First game?
UEFA Euro 1996, June 22nd, England v Spain. First game I was allowed to watch in the Mens only Snug at the club the day after my 15th birthday. :D By the time I went to watch the game we got kicked out I had a place reserved at the bar and my drink ready when I walked in! :D
Most memorable game?
5 - 1... need I say more? ;D
Worst game?
World Cup 2002, June 21st, England v Brazil. I was at the pub with all my mates by 6am buzzing from being in the quarter finals and it being my 21st birthday, just to see us kicked out :'( I was gutted.
Fav player?
I could say Beckham, Owen, Redknapp, Gerrard or Lampard and although I LOVE watching them all play (*rubs thighs* :D ) my favourite team member of all time was Englands Number 1, David Seaman. On the field I think all 5 were / are awesome players with more talent than just sexy legs but Seaman did a lot for the team. :)
What of your team now?
We will do it!! :D
(what can I say... when it comes to England, I'm an optimist!)
See... bet you didn't think I'd have anything to say ;D

Your Team?
Celtic
Why?
My best mate at school was a Celtic supporter when I started taking an interest.
For How long?
Since I was about 5 - so, about 16 years :p
First game?
Against Aberdeen sometime in 1984 (never managed to get to a game before that due to living in Shetland).
Most memorable game?
Against those bloody Portugese cheats in the 2003 EUFA cup final - so close and yet so far.
Worst game?
Super Cali Go Ballistic, Celtic Are Atrocious was one of the funniest and most painful newspaper headlines ever.
Fav player?
Currently, probably Shunsuke Nakamura - recent past, probably Lubomir Moravcik and from my yoof, probably either Kenny Dalglish or Danny McGrain.
What of your tem now?
SPL champions the last two seasons. Have a bit of a fight on our hands this season, trailing behind Rangers just now. Had a decent run in the Champions League last season, would be nice to repeat that.

Your Team?
Everton FC
Why?
My whole family are Toffees, it's inbuilt with me :)
For How long?
Since the day I was born.
First game?
Hard one to remember, as I went to a lot with my mum and dad in the 1984-85 season, so it could have been any team that season.
Most memorable game?
Beating Bayern Munich 3-1 at Goodison was amazing. Was at the ground when we beat Southampton 7-1 which was also great. A certain 3-0 result against Liverpool last season was pretty nice as well :)
Worst game?
Any where Liverpool turn us over easily (which is less common now than it used to be thankfully).
Fav player?
Currently Mikel Arteta, though in the past I would probably say Neville Southall as he was easily one of the best keepers I've ever seen.
What of your tem now?
Currently best team in the city according to the league table, so that'll do me :D Seriously though, I think Moyes is slowly but surely building a very impressive squad at Everton and if he carries on like this I don't think it'll be all that long before we can challenge the top 4 on a more regular basis.

I warn you now the following is about a rugby team cos I'm from the Westcountry and in the abscence of any decent wendyball outfits we decided to beat the Welsh at their favourite game as often as possible.:p
Your Team?
Bristol RFC (Bristol Shoguns for a while when they had Mitsubishi sponsorship )
Why?
See above. My Dad played rugby until I was about 7. My Mum hated it. I soon took it up.
For How long?
I didn't show a huge amount of interest until about the age of 11 when I started playing minis and watching the old Five Nations and Rugby Special on TV.
First game?
First I remember was home to Gloucester in about 1992. It was a mudbath and the jerseys got changed 3 times. I think Bris won by the odd penalty 15-12 or so.
Most memorable game?
Probably the Powergen Cup game against Wasps in 2005 while we were in National 1. It finished 23-23 and went into extra time. Many rugby journos chose it as their game of the year and it was the first live match my girlfriend came to. Wasps won it (some kiddie called Tom Rees came on and got the winning try) but were then disqualified for fielding an unregistered player.
Worst game?
Plenty to choose from here. Probably the promotion-relegation play off against London Scottish in 1998. Bristol were relegated out of the top flight for the first time since leagues began and in the Summer the clubs chairman and financial backer pulled out and the club folded. We lost the Memorial Ground to Bristol Rovers and came within a whisker of vanishing completely.
Fav player?
Mark 'Ronnie' Regan
A homegrown gob****e who has defied the years and come out of international retirement to play in his second world cup final. Reknowned for his mastery of sledging, the opposing hooker John Smit said after the 2007 final that Regan had spoken to him more in 80 minutes than his wife had in 7 years of marriage. ;D
Other Bristol greats include Alan Morley who still holds the world record for first class tries (about 400:shocked:), Paul Hull and Pumas Agustin Pichot and Felipe Contepomi.
What of your team now?
Back in the Premiership and with players in the England team:cool:
Finished 3rd last season but a rash of injuries and Heineken cup distractions have left us at the wrong end of the table.
The Rovers have just received permission to bulldoze and rebuild the Mem taking 100 years of rugby history with it. The Memorial Ground is so called because it was an area of land donated by the council to commemorate the rugby players who gave their lives in World War I.
It's not been announced where we'll be playing for the two seasons while the development goes ahead or if we'll be returning when it's complete.
Your Team?
Newcastle Utd
Why?
Was born there and most of my family still live there. Plus my whole family supports them.
For How long?
As long as I can remember.
First game?
The first game I went to see was about 3 seasons ago, can't remember off hand who we played but I remember we drew. I live in the midlands so getting up there to watch a match is a pain :(
Most memorable game?
Most would say the 4-3 defeat against Liverpool, but for me it was winning against Chelsea in the FA cup a few seasons back, I never thought we would have a chance and the Muppet Kluivert actually scored :D
Worst game?
The other week against Man Utd :( 6-0 :(
Fav player?
It's a choice of either Shay Given or Charles N'Zogbia. Given is probably one of the best keepers in the game and yet has stuck with us through thick and thin. N'zogbia is a star in the making, I love watching him play as he's one of the few players we have that will always keep going for goal and his footwork is amazing.
What of your team now?
:( that is all.

One of my two visits to NUFC is seeing Spurs defeated by 7 goals :(
Is Keegan going to last another 3 games? Any other manager with such a record would be out, surely?

I hope they keep him till the end of the season for consistencies sake. He needs to learn that we need to actually score goals to win and leaving an inform striker on the bench is not a good idea. Same with leaving an inform left back on the bench and using a (crap) right back in that place.

Considering he was Ashley's choice (albeit a 2nd choice), I'm fairly sure he'll be given until midway through next season so he can actually try to sort things out and rebuild the team somewhat. Knee-jerk reactions will do Newcastle no good whatsoever. Teams like Everton have shown that by keeping faith in a manager you believe in (even when we had an awful season and finished 17th) can pay dividends when he's given time to succeed. More clubs could learn from that example (though it helps having a manager as talented as Moyes) :)

Your Team?
Chelsea.
Why?
Because my best mate Graeme supported them.
For How long?
37 years.
First game?
Norwich away when i was 7 with my step dad. We were 3 nil up at half time & drew it 3-3 at final whistle, felt like we'd lost tbqfh. Saw my first football violence as well. Some copper battered this thug right in front of me.
Most memorable game?
My first match of course. Wilkins got his Balls sponged right in front of me :D
Worst game?
Losing to Leeds back in the day :'(
Fav player?
Peter Osgood or Peter Bonetti.
What of your team now?
We Pawn Russian style :p
Your Team?
Manchester Unuted
Why?
Was born about 10 miles away from Old Trafford. All the family support United so I wasn't going to upset the apple cart
For How long?
Nearly 30 years now
First game?
'83 when a Barcelona side including a certain Diego Maradonna were humbled by Bryan Robson & Frank Stapleton
Most memorable game?
Lots of 'em but here's a few
Probably the derby at Maine Road in the 90's. Siddy were 2-0 up at Half Time and we won 3-2 with Keano getting the winner.
Nou Camp 1999. The real treble accept no imitations
League Cup against Liverpool in '90 iirc. We had just been battered 4-0 at Anfailed with a Beardsley Hat Trick and we drew Liverpool in the cup. We won 3-1 with Hughsey scoring a screamer of a volley from about 30 yards out
Worst game?
4-0 as above
Fav player?
Le King
What of your team now?
Football has changed a lot since I started watching it. I used to travel up and down the country watching United and had a season ticket for a good 15 years. Back in the 80's it was a sport. Nowadays its a consumer product wrapped up into a nice little package. I still support United and am still as passionate now as I was back then but its just too damn expensive. I think were still very lucky to have Ferguson as manager as he tries to play football the right way. We have the luxury of a manager who accepts that he has obligations to play football in a certain attacking way.
Im not one to jump on the back of the Glazers like some of the fans. yes they have saddled us with a load of debt but its being managed and if wasnt them it would be some bugger else
