Hello people!

Anyone know of any good programs that will help me sort out my music tags and album pictures for my iPod? I just had a play with FixTunes... not realising it was just a demo. Boo! Seemed alright though...

But yeh... any ideas? I've got uber loads of unsorted stuff and it would take me months upon months to do it single handedly!

Oh Pickers has just said "DONT GET ANYTHING THAT CHANGES THE ID3 TAGS as I have done them all and checked them!" Still have no art work on my iPod though!

Fankoo for your helpo! :D

Media Monkey
MP3Tag
TagAndRename
The Godfather

I used Media Monkey myself for tagging and album art last summer and it worked quite well. :D

If you have a mac there is an app which contacts amazon for artwork :)

Tell Pickers he should have gone to Specsav....MusicBrainz and used PicardQT to sort the Tags and the album art in one go :D

Yeah artwork on its own is a bit of a buegger, Music Brainz Picard latest version (ive been pimping the beta but its not on anymore :p) sorts EVERYTHING out, if you play around you may be able to make it just not write tags, but tbh its not like it'll get them wrong anyways! I tagged and added album art to 45Gb of music so far and its only got on album wrong, its by far THE BEST peice of software out there for this once setup correctly. Ie make sure you have the disc and album art plugin working correctly.

I do all my artwork and tags by hand. On 40GB worth of music, it took a fair while. I have to go back through and do release dates and genres again soon because I've been a bit lax on them recently

Why waste your time? Music Brainz Picard will do just a good a job?

I've tried using that and it was a bit rubbish and took AGES. It's not a waste of time, I enjoy doing it :)

Did you use the original MB or their newer Picard? The two are very different, and i've found that it speeds up tagging and all that parp in my books 10 fold. Getting used to it is difficult, took me a while and a few test cases to set it up so i knew i could rely on it. Once i had it sorted it powered through 30Gb of music which was about as unruly as they get. Then i copied my mates stuff and showed him over the course of a night how you can tag music (and subsequently stole it), another 15Gb in mere hours. 1000's of tracks all perfectly named with release dates and disc no. added to ID3 with embedded art from amazon... And structured immaculate too i must add :D Can't be any happier with it as a piece of software. Made a HUGE thread about it a while ago making sure everyone actually gave it a good try!

even though I quite enjoy doing it, I will try Picard just for you :p As long as it doesn't overwrite anything it doesn't find (I have a fair few albums that amazon doesn't stock) I'm alright with it.

edit: but it won't work directly from my iPod, so I'll have to transfer my music back before I use it :/

Ahhhh, you didn't say direct iPod, sorry. I keep my music on my PC and iPod, better luck next time :p

well, it's about 100x better than anything I've used for the same purpose before. It's just going through my collection as we speak.

It doesn't seem to be doing artwork though - do I need a plugin?
