View Full Version : Heads up - Ashes to Ashes, tonight, BBC2
No dust to dust though - New series following on from Life on Mars, but without Sam "The Master" Tyler and with Gene Hunt.
Ashes to Ashes (http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/ashestoashes/), tonight, BBC2 21:00.
Be there, or be square.
I <3 the Gene Genie.

haha Yeah looking forward to this! Hopefully more impolitical correct viewing.. give the IPC police something to do... but it most likely won't be because of crap bureauracy nowadays blah blah.. #soap box#:(
I shall be changing my sig back to my old Gene Hunt quote when I get home tonight...
/edit - *done*
Has anyone read "A Guide to Modern Policing 1973 edition" by DCI Gene Hunt?
It's hilarious - "Dealing with complaints, tell 'em to f*** off!"
Really been looking forward to this :)

Well that was.....
Interesting....
I enjoyed it, but I can't help feeling it was missing something and I can't put my finger on what.. Perhaps the freshness of the original series where there was no knowledge of what was happening and whether he was really there or in the coma.
*edited as a potential LoM spoiler...

Phew. Half an hour of Keeley Hawes' stocking tops and my heart feels like I've run a a mile.
Did anyone else feel like tongue was too far in cheek tonight?
I'd say more but don't want to post spoilers.
What's the colour for spoiler text?
Cheers.
*** The ultra cheesy A-team shoot out was soooo ridiculous. And then the Hawaii five-oh speed boat. ARRRRGGGHHH! The ****ing speedboat!***
Well what a mess that was, really disappointed :(
firstly 1981 is nowhere near as good a time to set it in as 1973 was
there is also no need to virtually recreate the storyline from the first 2 series, it doesn't need the "time travel" aspect, it should have been a simple program based on the antics of the coppers

Just type [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler] and stick what you want to say in between.
With no gaps between those brackets obviously. :)

We have a [spoiler tag...
Hmmm, I see what you mean but I don't think I've given anything away really.. I'll put this in spoiler tags but I don't think I need to as it was the whole premise for Life on Mars and was repeated at the start of each episode...
"My name is Sam Tyler. I had an accident, and I woke up in 1973. Am I mad, in a coma, or back in time? Whatever's happened, it's like I've landed on a different planet. Now maybe if I can work out the reason, I can get home."
If I have, I apologise but I don't think I have...

Completely agree. It just lacked a lot. The 80's were cringe worthy. Maybe it'll get better but it does seem like a desperate attempt to make a sequel.

I was a bit disappointed but Gene Hunt will rescue any shortcomings although nothing will top the original.
Every old sweat cop I know almost worships the ground he walks on.
' Fire up the Quattro. '
Just watched this. Bloody loved it. Far preferred it to Life On Mars which I also loved.
I think my problem with the early 80s stems from being there, nothing cool about an era which saw Rotty in white trousers, white shoes , a pink cardigan and bleached blonde hair with a big fringe :o
strangely enough none of them seem to have survived :p

He got "Take That" in there when he handed him the report too :D
And I recognised the yellow car was a Mk4/5 Cortina just by the swage lines at the bottom of the door before they showed the whole car.
I've still got it!

Damnit, had to go re-watch it, we all missed that one!
I love how they throw stuff in like that :D Really enjoying this series!!
Like the way Hunt asked her out too. ".. and wear something slutty" So romantic  :p
We need to see this - from episode 1 though!
