Milk that is..
I've been drinking my coffee with Soya Milk lately as I have to keep an eye on my Cholesterol. It's actually not to bad but how do they make Soya milk? Do they force cows to eat loads of soya beans as I've not seen any beans actually lactating recently.
Tea though has to be semi-skimmed and breakfast cereal with skimmed.
Semi-skimmed on everything. Skimmed tastes too much like water and I can handle full fat if I have to.
Soya milk? :puke: Tree-hugging, soap-dodging, dog-on-a-string drink.
Give me freshly squeezed cow juice (semi skimmed) in and on everything. And battery eggs (they're cheaper)
I use semi-skimmed for almost everything. It's like the whole Goldilocks porridge thing; skimmed is too watery, full fat is too creamy, semi-skimmed is just right. I'll use the creamy stuff in coffee though, or in other things where you'd normally use cream.
Edit: I'm not adverse to dog's milk though. Full of goodness. Full of marrowbone jelly.
Semi here - not that keen on full fat but my nan use to get bottles of it and I did use to steal the creamy bit off the top :o :D
Don't overload on the Soya Huddy - its actually not as good for you that they make it out to be.
In recent years the food industry has wasted no time in extolling soya's alleged health benefits, claiming it can lower cholesterol, help with menopausal systems, ward off osteoporosis and even reduce the risks of some cancers. However, aside from research linking soya to reduced male fertility, studies now link the phyto-oestrogens found in the plant to an increased risk of other types of cancer. It has also been claimed that it damages brain function in men () and causes hidden developmental abnormalities in infants. Some even attribute the early onset of puberty in western women to the spread of soya in diets.
I have semi skimmed, though Full fat tastes better on Frosties :D

Skimmed for me.
have done for about 7 years
Its something you just get used to.
Although if a fresh brew pot of coffee is on offer, I will often take it black
Semi-skimmed on the rare occasion I have any. don't really have hot drinks anymore and I cant remember the last time I had cereal for breakfast!
I have semi skimmed, though Full fat tastes better on Frosties :D

Woman after my own heart!
We were having a discussion about soya beans last week at work. I didn't previously know this, but thank to the Americans, soya is one of the major reasons why the rain forests are disappearing. It's hugely water-hungry too, meaning that it decimates land without putting anything back in.
If you want to read more, check out this link:

For example;
Infants exclusively fed soy-based formula have 13,000 to 22,000 times more estrogen compounds in their blood than babies fed milk-based formula, the estrogenic equivalent of at least five birth control pills per day. Premature development of girls has been linked to the use of soy formula, as has the underdevelopment of males. Infant soy formula has been linked to autoimmune thyroid disease.
About the only time I have milk is on my Rice Krispies and I use semi skimmed for that. Coffee is always black.
I don't actually like milk :(
However its essential in Tea and on frosties... but I love milkshakes :D
I can't bear wastage, so if quite a lot of milk is about to turn I have a couple of nesquiks to use it up :) I can't drink it on its own.
BB x
Full fat in general. Though I'm happy with semi skimmed.
Soya mings.
Soya milk? :puke: Tree-hugging, soap-dodging, dog-on-a-string drink.
Oooh y'cheeky bugger!
*hugs tree, dodges soap and walks off pulling dog-on-a-string*

Semi skimmed here. Used to be full skimmed watery gear but got out of the way of drinking that. I only ever use milk in tea and then only enough to colour it. That, combined with the fact that Kelly hardly drinks tea at all, means that quite often, a single pint of milk in our gaff will go off before it's finished.
I drink a litre of milk a day nearly :o
I drink a litre of milk a day nearly :o
I have calcium problems and have been told I should drink 1-2 pints a day.....never manage it :o very rarely manage 1 pint :o
I have it with my protein shakes - tastes nicer than water. Plus I love milk in my cereal and sometimes just drink milk "because I wanna".
Milk and cookies are awesome. :D
I have semi-skimmed but I can drink skimmed easily enough. Can't stand full fat, it tastes like ass.

Rare occasion I actually have milk it has to be semi skimmed - full fat is too creamy and skimmed is just white water :/
I'll normally defect back to full fat left to my own devices. I don't like all this semi skimmed diet milk malarky but I'll have it if that's all there is.

We use both skimmed and semi-skimmed. Depends what its being used for, semi-skimmed for drinking or tea. Skimmed goes in tea when there is no semi-skimmed (but mum has it all the time).

Nothing better than a glass of ice cold semi/fat milk :D
Semi here don't like full fat can only just cope with full fat in coffee but thats cos my mate doesn't use semi.
Kids used to have full fat but they drink so much milk that they have semi too.
Isabella will be having full fat on cereal after she's 6months.
I think i'll get myself a glass of milk now :D

When i was younger I used to only drink skimmed which i find a little weird now as it tastes of nothing! I didn't like butter though, or cheese (still don't like cheese). So i reckon i've got a dairy thing goin on that i'm (very slowly) growing out of :D
(still don't like cheese)

I'd love to have full fat all the time .. it's soo yummy but to be good I have semi skimmed.
Skimmed milk is just pointless .. may as well have water ;D
You see for me soya milk tastes horrible and it makes tea/coffee taste really nutty and unpleasant. however my sis has to have it as she's lactose intolerant, I made the accidental mistake of putting it in my tea - gaughghgaah :puke: :(
Have any of you been to a dairy farm and had fresh unpasteurised milk? It is absolutely wonderful! Very strong smell/taste some people say there's a slight bovine taste to it, but that's not surprising really. Glorious - though didn't try it warm straight out of the cow, I should have though.

Freak :p
It gets boring telling people honestly, everyone thinks i'm ****ing nuts! Cheese generally rules out Pizza, and most other Italian stuff. But i do eat lasagne's, and most cheesy pasta dishes i just like less cheese than a "normal" person. Tbh i eat pizza if i'm hungry too, its just if a had the choice i'd probably choose something else...
I know something WORSE than the evil Skimmed Rd Milk..... UHT!!!
I have an 'emergency' carton of it in the cupboard, but one of my friends has it all the time... its gross..! May as well not bother.... only have it in dire emergencys - i.e on a train journey, where I have about 4 sachets to make it normal semi skimmed consistency.
URGH!!!

About the only milk I have is evaporated on apple crumble.

My parents used to feed us that when we were younger - on our crumble too...I don't like it now though :(
Condensed milk for banoffee pie though = winner!
Oooo thats an idea!!! ;)

I use semi-skimmed for almost everything. It's like the whole Goldilocks porridge thing; skimmed is too watery, full fat is too creamy, semi-skimmed is just right.
This works for me. 5 pints a week, usually drunk from the bottle (saves washing up ). :)
Soya sounds wrong (never tried it though). UHT *is* wrong, but seems to be the done thing on the continent (in Europe at least, fresh milk the way we have it is mostly a Brit thing - or so I've heard).
Semi for me, by preference. I don't get on with Soya it has an odd after taste I'm not keen on. I can really tell the difference in a cuppa.
Made pancakes on Saturday using soya milk as Kari is slightly lactose intolerant. Works quite well from a batter perspective, just as well as milk, but it left a very strange after taste. Very weird. Even Kari thought the after taste was a little strange.
And, milk has to be either ice cold or hot, warm milk is just :puke:
Yeah I hate making custard when you have to warm up milk.. eurgh!!
BB x
The only way I can have hot milk is with chocolate in it - I've tried it plain and Mic has it with a bit of sugar in and I just can't drink it.

Not wanting to be too critical but that site is spouting one particular source quite frequently, Carotec Inc. Looking into that company you've got what looks to be two brothers and one of the brother's wife as the three main positions, executive (1 brother), manager (his wife) and treasurer (other brother). Doing digging around the only other thing they seem to have done (besides the executive being a Ron Paul supporter, and both brothers having donated to Ron Paul and the Bush/Cheney fund), is produce a single book with his Wife's Brother.
I can't find any decent credentials for any of them suggesting that you should even consider taking their word as any form of medical truth. I'm not saying that they're talking rubbish, just that they're not exactly giving me a great impression of their qualifications to speak about that specific subject.
There are other reputable sources on the site though, worth paying attention to.

Fair point, you read a little deeper than I did. This site (http://www.greenlivingonline.com/HealthNutrition/dangers-of-soy/), and this (http://www.mongabay.com/external/soybeans2003.htm), plus an old (2005) article from the BBC (here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4603729.stm)) give you some other sources that seem to claim the same things. :)

Different brands of soya milk taste different. Some are vile. Just because you've tried one or two doesn't automatically mean you don't like it just that you don't like the ones you've tried.
Tesco sweetened is very nice with no aftertaste at all. It only costs 69p a litre too so is far cheaper than a lot of other brands.

Semi for moi! I was actually thinking about trying soya milk on my porridge instead of normal milk for a week next week, to see if it stops me from having the eternal snuffles. I daren't go for allergy testing as I couldn't cope with being told I can't have dairy etc... but wanted to see if cutting back made a difference.

The protein levels are similar to regular milk. How artificial is it? And is it true that it has trace levels of progesterone or some form of female sex hormone in it? I remember a huge fuss over it in the past.
