There's a Mac on my desk at work :|

I feel oddly trendy.
send it to me.
you are a linux user - you can't be seen with a mac.

embrace it my friend. Bathe in the glow of the apple goodness.
Mac OS is just Linux with a different theme anyway :D
I wish :D
It is in some bits but not in others it seems. They've completely tailored winbind it, and what we've gained in some places we've lost in others. The domain joining was pretty painless, but NTLM just wont work with Safari - which means whoever ends up using this thing wont be able to use the web. It was apparently fine in Tiger and broken with Leopard - splendid!
On a positive note, this thing's got a great screen. Fantastic in fact.

Daz I'd send that MacBook Pro back there seems to be some horrible black markings on the left corner :( :p
I'm more than happy to look after it for you should you accidentally break it at home ;)
With all that space you'd have thought they'd have made the keyboard a decent size.
Good lad!
Will that crap you're talking about work with Firefox? I've hidden Safari away so it can't be used.
Edit: Is that the largest screen version? Just realised how small the keyboard looks in comparison!
the keyboard it full size.... its mahoooosive laptop ;D
I'm pretty sure this thing is more than my life's worth :D
[edit]Looking at FF now Belmit :) It apparently also has a couple of niggles but I have more control of that than I do Safari!
I never did get the point in huge laptops. Surely that defeats the object of portable computers and renders them nothing more than ego enhancing fashion statements.
Oh wait....
Then what, pray tell, is the point of the MacBook Air? :p
Anyway, more money than sense tbh :p - not that I'd refuse if one were offered my way. ;)

Is the screen that good i heard of horrid dithering problems even with the pro's no?
//From an official mac hate (well not hater, but avoider) i'd probably like to try OSX properly but without having to buy a mac
Most of the 'Mac haters' I know at the very least compliment the screen on the Pro. We've had a few of the 23" Apple cinema displays delivered here as well and they are just amazing. Very hard to describe - they're almost glossy and matt at the same time!
Yeah, there were dithering problems once. An OS X update appears to have taken care of most of them. :)
Should clarify that it's nor for me, but for some fool in marketing. I'm happy with a proper linux machine thank you ;):D

I'd love one. It would be just like working on a normal desktop machine (if you plug in a mouse) but gives you the portability that you just can't get with a desktop.

Less of the winking please. You're in denial. You want one and you know it. :p :D

I've seen it before and although it has intrigued me, its far too much arsing around, a lot of stuff doesn't work well with it, since it was never designed in the first place. I wish apple just added better driver support or what-not and opened it up properly. Its obviously do-able since that's basically what this "hack" does...
