View Full Version : Waiting at home I have...
A parcel. I'm going to leave it up to you guys to guess what it could be. (Yes, I'm that bored right now) :D Is it a lens, a cadre of elephants, a small blackhole, or simply prints for a client? Ooooh just what could it be.
4 bananas with eyes painted on them.
While I was tempted to buy all seeing bananas, thats not it.

The still beating heart of your sworn enemy? Delivered by Citylink...
I doubt it'd be still beating if citylink delivered it ;)
I think that inside will be a smaller parcel. And maybe inside that, a smaller parcel. At the centre will be a very tiny parcel indeed.
Hey, I don't have a tiny package :p
You won't know until you peel off the layers!

Are you saying it's an onion?

Piggy'd go mad if she was in a pink box though!

I ain't peeling any layers. Though I'm tempted to get Hammond to come round and officially open it ;)
Is the parcel ticking?
I'm hoping not, but my exhibition is. ******* clock!

A good guess but alas no moo. I don't recall placing an order for a tiny interneter. But I now want a Blue Ribbon :D
Thats not her call, she'll be delivered in whatever box we say!!!! :D
Who said it was Piggy anyway? :p

A remote control car mebbe?
Peanut butter jelly on a baseball bat?
If any BDers can fit into this box I'd be impressed. I'd offer to shake their hand but my hand would be bigger than them :) I have 2 boxes btw. One tiny one and one not as tiny. They both go together, with a 3rd box arriving tomorrow to also join in the fun. However, the main parcel can be used independently of all the rest.
Thai mail order bride?
Given the box size it'd just be the important bits. Nipples, hole and something to steal my credit card with ;)

I'm not made of money. I'd look fairly silly in a thong if I was. My shillings would be exposed.
A brand-spanking new toothbrush!

is it an iPhone?
Its not an iPhone. My contract is up in Sept and I'm looking at the n95/96.
How about trying another tact...is it technological?
Macbook Air? Gotta deal with that Mac addiction - especially with the shop right near your exhibition.
Three boxes of varying sizes? Lady head. Lady body. Lady limbs.
They go together but not all are required.

It is technological.
Something anime related.
While its not specifically anime related, it can be related to anime :D

The MBAir is great for photographers on location. Tethered shooting etc, but its not for me. If I only had a desktop then maybe. It is tough walking past the Mac store every day too. Theres a great temptation to go in and play with the 24'' iMac or the iPods. I've already cracked and bought a Mighty Mouse from there this week. Thats just because I don't have a mouse and it makes playing Homeworld 2 a lot easier.

Hehe no :p I have other ways of getting head ;)
Russian boxes?
Like russian dolls, only cheaper. :p
Cheese?
No me gusta queso. Me gusta manzana. :D

Itouch you huge lier, Kitten's got that aaaages ago!
Yup - I knew it'd be something Apple-related. The force is weak in this one. :p

Hehe all part of the fun :) I basically bought it to carry my portfolio around. If someone needs an image I can send it them and make money. It could pay for itself in 2-4 images. Its gotta be a sign of getting older when you buy a trendy cool Apple product for its business use more than cool features. iCal syncing, mail, portfolio, etc. Great for shoots too because I can put loads of ideas in iPhoto and sync it. Of course it plays video but I'm never normally anywhere where I would need to sit and watch a big film. I'm getting old :(
Excuses, excuses. You got it because it's shiny and has an Apple badge on the back. The rest is icing. :p ;D
Though I do admit to having thought of getting one to escape the crappy WM5/6 web browsing. Not enough justification on it's own though.
Ok ok you got me. That was my press agent speaking. I did buy it cos its shiny and Apple ;) But honestly, I am expecting it to pay for itself.
It comes in 32GB now?
Ok so it seems that iTunes optimises images for the screen size. It seems fairly pointless because you're then zooming in on a 640x472px image. Slightly annoying because I bought it to store hires 5mb jpgs so I could email them. Oh well, all the other features still stand. Stunning screen, readable subs for anime, iCal, mail and so-on. Incredibly well made device, typical Apple design. I think I'll still be able to get around the image issue by at least having a large selection of my work with me that I can email to people to show them what I can send, if they're interested. Also, oddly, it was just really nice to literally flick through photos from my nephews christening. It'll be handy for shoots too because I can show a model a photo and say "Do that!"

Ya. About 2 weeks ago it came out.

Can you not use it like any old mass storage device Pete?

Can you not use it like any old mass storage device Pete?
But what does he then connect it to? Surely if he needs to connect it to a laptop or something to use the mass storage facilities, he'd be better just taking the laptop.
Pete could you have the smaller images then have the rest on your webspace which you can then view via safari?

For some unknown reason the iPod Touch and iPhone don't have the disk mode feature. Its a bit odd. Even if they did I'd still need to plug it into something or hope an application comes out to enable disk access. But either way my Dad made a good point. It might not be the best thing to carry my entire portfolio around in hires on a small easily stealable device. I've got 10gb webspace and I'll have to look into sorting some form of stock library I think.

He's spot on there. Your portfolio is everything to you - not worth the risk. I'd put some thought into how to protect your work online before uploading there too as it's even easier to 'lose' online stuff.

How large is your portfolio?
:(

I did a quick google and found nothing so placed the order. I figured it had a big screen, the ability to zoom in and lots of space so it'd be fine. Just seems so silly zooming in on a 640px image.

For sure. I am with a stock library but they're just so anal. Any hint of noise and the picture is rejected. Which is completely stupid with editorial work because you shoot at high iso and its printed at a low dpi so you can't see noise for toffee.
How large is your portfolio?
I have 6gb in iPhoto that needs sorting out.

Hmmm I'm wondering if there is something we can do with your touch so you can control your mac from home and upload/email any images you need.
But what does he then connect it to? Surely if he needs to connect it to a laptop or something to use the mass storage facilities, he'd be better just taking the laptop.
So long as there's basic file browsing facilities on it, he could attach the hires version to an email or whatever. But as it cant be used like that it's moot!
Hmmm I'm wondering if there is something we can do with your touch so you can control your mac from home and upload/email any images you need.
Well, he could always just put the images on a separate 'site' (a subdomain or something) that's designed to be easy to use on the touch, then, wherever he has wifi, he can access pictures in full size (safari downloads images properly as far as I can tell).
This is probably the easiest way you'll manage to get decent resolution pictures on it.
edit - or maybe, http://www.insanelygreattees.com/news/?p=51 - "Filemarks let you store high res images, text files, and PDFs on an iPhone!" May well work :D
