The Reverend and his band are making to tell you about the state of things and I suggest you listen!
We saw this band on Sunday at the Crisis Consiquences gig and I have to say they are one of the best if not the best act I have seen all year.
I might have heard Heavyweight Champion of the World on the radio but to be honest when I saw them on the set list I couldn't name one of their tracks or tell what genre they fell into, however within half a song they had me dancing like a madman and by the end I was pogo-ing like a spring and singing along.
So who are these guys and are they like?
Somewhere between a Madchester and a Ska sound with an injection of social conciousness, catchy vocals and more band members then you can comfortably get on a stage all of whom can play and do so cohesively and with a drive which whips the audience into a frenzy. At this gig they threw insults at the VIP bar which was full of media tossers who came with the bands and were snorting coke in the toilets, and suggested that the bloke outside who was selling fake T-shirts and touting tickets should be, shall be we say, relieved of his merchandise for making money of the back of a charity gig. Insanity mixed with a political message but the music never ever takes a back seat and if you don't like what they are saying theres a good chance you'll love what they sound like with tight baselines, cool keys and electro tweeks.
What do they want?
They want to tell you about the state of the UK and whats going on in the house next door and on the council estate on the other side of town and if you don't want to listen they'll be happy if you just dance like a muppet :D.
Matt, I really love the sound of this, how can I hear these guys?
State of Things was released last year to critical acclaim, HMV have it for less than £8.
Check out the website, give 'em a go, you won't regret it.
