W00t! After reading how easy it is to make stock, i made some chicken stock the other week for a chicken ricey stew thing, instead of just using water, and it was ok, but i cooked it up (geddit? ;D) rice a little stodgy and not enough veg. Anyway this week i had a lambs leg to play with, and after promptly breaking it so it fit in my pot i brought to boil and simmered with mint and rosemary and thought about making a stock, but i managed to retrieve so much extra meat from what i thought was a barren leg i thought i can't waste this, so sieved the stock and separated "meat" from cartilage/sinewy stuff threw some spuds pasta and veg in (in that chronological order) brought to boil then simmered again.
But this was tn oo thin, so i uber boiled some more potatoes and strained them and added the gunk to the mixture to give it "depth" (;)). Success! I'm not sure if its a soup reminds me more of my stews, but i'm eating it tonight as dinner now, its nomtastic and its all home made which is what i think its better.
I'm proud I've managed to *completely* finish off the lambs leg to the last scrap and extract every bit of juice from the bones etc... Its so tasty and minty its awesome, doing this more often, also tbh its piss easy. Boil simmer, strain, boil simmer, add what you want along the way, and if you let it cool enough skim the crappy fat off the top...
