So I was chatting to young Feek and he mentioned that his friend had seen some kind of Dr Who something when at the cinema.
I pondered this and wondered if it was maybe a trailer for the new season.
So a quick imdb search said that it was due to start in March. But it is March!
Then I spotted this (http://imdb.com/title/tt1159992/) episode (one for Feek mebbe :p), and as it's episode 4 and due to be aired in June then I'd guess the new series is due to be shown in May.
Doctor Who will return in Spring 2008
*gets excited despite that Tate woman being in it*

Just saw the interview with Jonathan Woss...
Catherine ****ing Tate was ok in the interview, amusing almost... I still have HUGE reservations about her ability to companion.
I guess we shall find out on the morrow.
*is excited about the new series*
I haven't seen the interview yet but I'm really not keen on her :( I just didn't like her character that they're now bringing in :/ But just have to see.
Well you had Rose and Dr = lovey dovey, then Martha and Dr = unrequited love, so the idea of a companion not in love with the Dr I like, I just didn't like the character in the xmas special and so am a bit reserved as to how it'll pan out
I have no preconceptions of Catherine Tate, I've not seen her in anything else previous to the Christmas Special and didn't mind her in that so I'm going into this with an open mind.
Only *checks watch* 7 hours and 23 minutes to go. Not that I'm counting or anything!

ROSE!
That is all.
*muttergrumble*
Didn't realise they moved the timeslot :( :o
Repeats tomorrow on BBC3 or 4 so I'll have to wait until then :(
Dym, hardly a spoiler given she was shown in the trailers. :p
Anyway, I forgotted, and so did the PC (usually has Doctor Who on auto). :(

You both fail.
And that was a valid spoiler.

iPlayer link (http://tinyurl.com/5nldv3)
Not downloadable yet, but hopefully it will be shortly... They must still be sorting out the DRM or summat I hope...
Aye, they have been plugging it with the time all this week so no excuses for missing it!
I enjoyed that and the kids loved it. LMF wants her own Adipose now :D
Nice twist at the end, it's been known about for a while but interesting to see it so early on in the series and I wonder how it's going to develop.
I'll catch it on repeat tomorrow.
Lack-of-DRM > iPlayer.
As for the time, I didn't say I had the time wrong. I just forgot to set the recorder (I was out at the time it was on).
I didn't say I had the time wrong.
No, I did.
And as I don't watch much tv or buy papers/magazines I've not seen any adverts so they could plug it every 10 minutes and I would have still missed it :o

Lack-of-DRM > iPlayer.
What's wrong with DRM?
To further my report of this opening episode.
I quite liked it, the story was quite a good one and very topical (preying on the current perceptions of weight/appearance/etc) and even though it was Catherine ****ing Tate then she wasn't as bad as she could have been, and to be honest it could have been much worse, it could have been Victoria ****ing Beckham!
NB: Although the fact it was Catherine ****ing Tate is the fault of Victoria ****ing Beckahm ;D
What's wrong with DRM?
It exists. :(
Beckahm
That's also clearly Victoria's fault. ;D
I didn't know about the twist till I saw it as I've been deliberately avoiding trailers as much as possible, so I'm grateful for Dym sticking it in spoiler tags as I've only just finished watching it :D
Catherine Tate wasn't as bad as I expected as she wasn't much like I remember in the Christmas special.
Had quite a themed night tonight as I watched Torchwood before Doctor Who :D

*pokes his tongue out at Mark* :p
Just watched the end of Torchwood and had a little cry :'(
Me too! Torchwood was far too sad :(
LMF wants her own Adipose now :D
I want one too :D
Not a bad episode, and as I generally don't see trailers or read rumours I managed to have no idea what-so-ever about the twist at the end. Also every time tate screams "dooctaaaaaaar" a little piece of my soul dies :(
I may have got a bit teary [read: cried lots] at torchwood :(
Well that was absolute rubbish :(

Down Pompeii?
T'was rather odd, to be sure.

*shoulders his sniper rifle and heads to Cardiff*
Are you my mummy?
;D ;D ;D
and
if they keep doing flashes of Rose like that, its going to end up like "wheres wally" every episode
They flashed rose again? hmmm missed it. where abouts was it?
When Donna is watching the TV thing in the Tardis after its been pinched, Roses face flashed on the screen
I though the nod to the Brigadier was excellent. Sir Alastair. Superb :)
So what are the odds on a spin-off series?
I doubt it'll be spin-off, but I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of her.
Looks quite tasty but wasn't too keen on her storyline. hopefully she will "grow up" in later episodes.

She was played by Peter Davisons daughter y'know :D

Indeed, and took lessonms with her 6 year old son's Karate teacher so she didn't look completely stupid when it came to fighting ;D

I'm just watching the Dalek episode from the Chris Ecclestone series and the scene where he is faced with the Dalek that's all chained up and powerless is absolutely fantastic. That single scene blows anything that David Tennant has done completely away, he was so much better.
I wish Ecclestone had done more than one series :(
Good episode I thought - depressing how accurate the "mob mentality" was.

I thought it was tripe tbh.
The only good things were Catherine smegging Tate hardly being in it, the little bit where we saw Rose and the trailer at the end for next week's episode where Rose said to Catherine smegging Tate "You're going to die".
I saw a few bits and really didn't get it. Maybe I'll watch it properly.
With you on smegging ****. She's tolerable in small doses but boy can she ever get annoying. It'll be good to have Rose back - however briefly - neither of the 'replacements' have got close.
(I don't think any of this is a spoiler now given how much we've all probably seen)

It was allright, I thought. Nothing fantastic, but not atrocious. At least Donna wasn't in it.
I hate to think how long it must have taken to film that one though. I know some of that would have been done on a soundstage / post processing, but that only covers the sound aspects, not the physical aspects of it that could clearly be seen at points by deliberate camera angles.
From the Radio Times..
Catherine Tate had her doubters when she first took over the role of the companion - but her electrifying performance here should shut up the whingers once and for all. This is her episode. Yes, Rose (Billie Piper) returns as Donna's guide in another world, but Tate is the commanding presence. Russell T Davies has brilliantly constructed a story centred on a very simple premise - what if she'd turned right at a crossroads when she was just ordinary, non-time-travelling Donna, and not left? What if she'd chosen the road that did not lead to the Doctor? Once the fateful decision is made, we're led through Davies's vision of a dystopian, Doctor-less world, as Donna struggles with loss and despair. And what's that on her back? David Tennant takes a back seat and leaves the work to the ladies, but fear not, he re-appears when it matters the most. And the ending will give you goose bumps.
(my bold)
Sorry. Wrong. I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt at the beginning of the series and in fact she was better than I expected in the first episode. But she's got worse as the series has progressed and I really can't agree with the comments from the Radio Times. I am fed up of Tate and her shouting and the sooner she leaves the series the better.
Tonights story was a good idea but she spoiled it with her woodenness and shouty behaviour.
I have to grant you that. I wanted it to work, and I was willing to give it time, but it just doesn't. She shouts far, far too much, and it just grates. A real pity. :(
I don't know if the fans' reaction to Donna contributed to Russell T Davies' decision to put down his pen. :(
I'll concede part though - the ending.
I was really enjoying Catherine Tate's performance this episode, thought it was one of her best to date and that she was finally shrugging off the irritating vestiges.. and then towards the end the shouting came back again, and she just got steadily more irritating all over again. It's a shame because that episode should have been so damn good. The premise, the construction, everything was superb.. apart from her :(
I'm a bit behind so just seen the episode from the 22nd.
I didn't realise Catherine Tate could get worse! But she's managed it. Shouting and being arsey with everyone does NOT equal acting :( It's just bloody irritating.
The episode was a good idea though and decent last couple of minutes.
Holy crap.
If that was a real regeneration scene, it's been the best kept damn secret in the world
I thought he was out of regens, hence getting him "cloned" so she from earlier in the series could continue, respawn and be the new doctor

Not true, David is the 10th incarnation, and there can be up to 13 incarnations of the doctor, however the Master has already managed to circumvent this.
If he really is gone I'll be stunned.. and will doff my hat to everyone involved in keeping that monumental secret!

I don't believe its a true regen, there are some weird inconsistancies with this episode including the woman who says Donna has something on her back.

Isn't it also broadcast in HD? Why are there never any HD torrents?
I think there was something on the Newsgroups last night

HA!
IN YOUR ****ING FACE CATHERINE ****ING TATE!
*plots to find Catherine Tate and tell her about the Doctor then watch her head implode*
:D
I feel a bit cheated by the way that episode started.
So then, all this shouty-ness we've been complaining about. Was it bad acting or a very clever plot device? Discuss.

Whichever it was, it was still bloody irritating which is all that matters to me :p ;D
I did enjoy that last episode though :)
