Honestly? I had totally forgotten about this, its hardly had any exposure, that must be because she is from a council estate, and not a doctors child like Maddie :/

Glad to hear it though

The BBC news link confirms she's been found alive :)

Fantastic!

There's been a lot of debate on radio 2 about the lack of media attention, and yeah the differing backgrounds of this girl and Madeline were pretty much blamed.

"During a search of the house, officers located Shannon Matthews who was found concealed in the base of a divan bed.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of abduction..."

Going by the map it is really local too

If I heard correctly the abductor was/is a member of the stepdad's extended family.

Good news for Shannon. :D

Glad they found her. Just wonder how they found her. The day they found her, it was said someone tipped off a charity who contacted the Police who raided the flat. The day after they found her it was two detectives at the flat, for some untold reason, who decided that something about the flat was suspicious and called for backup. It arrived and bish bash bosh they took the doorframe off getting in.

This all seems a big dodge to me
Does it normally take three plus days to get your daughter back after she has been abducted. Personally if that had have been my Jazmine the second they got her back she would be by MY side & not leave it. Old bill keep my kid, Kin ell what is going on here, All seems well Dodge to me.

Obviously very glad the little girl was found & just hope this is some sort of Scam type dodgyness rather than some kiddy fiddling business that she has been subjected to.
All very Dodgey if you ask me.

In the news there have been rumours it was a family plot to try and get money after the mccanns got so much to find Maddy but Im not sure I believe that.

In my opinion it is family related out of spite and the connections with everyone but Im glad they found her and will be interesting to hear the whys and whats when the investigations have finished.

It reminded me of the documentary on tv about the 2 girls from Hastings that went missing 10 years ago and were found some days later although they were both subjected to severe sexual abuse.

This doesn't surprise me. The only person who they interviewed and seemed geninely bothered by the situation was the childs natural father who was driving around every night in the hope of seeing her.

I reckon she's not far off. I can understand the Police wanting to question Shannon to see what happened but the Emergency Police Order sounds a bit weird. Why keep her from the entire family? That is what it sounds like to me. I think the Police believe that someone in the family knows more about this whole episode than they should and so pose a risk to Shannon?

This doesn't surprise me. The only person who they interviewed and seemed geninely bothered by the situation was the childs natural father who was driving around every night in the hope of seeing her.

MBWhen the Police released the 999 call her mother made with her crying I failed to hear any crying at all.

Maybe I'm just too cynical, but there are things that very definintely don't add up.I've been trying to work out the maths of 7 kids by 5 men. I'm thinking 3 kids by 3 men and then 2 kids each by the other two. :D

There was a C4 documentary about this shown tonight (last night) which was filmed before Shannon was found.

Was interesting...

It was a good display of a community working together and uniting.

It was also a good display of how the media can be intrusive bastads (not C4 as they were invited).

And by jove there are some ignorant people in the world :/

Faysh heard on the radio that Shannon's step father (the 22 year old) has been arrested for possessoin of indecent images of children.

Methinks there's a lot more to this than meets the eye...

MarcLister

A lot, lot more.

I think the Police keeping Shannon in protective custody themselves or with Social Services now seems more understandable. It smacked of the Police thinking at the time that Shannon was/would have been at risk had she gone home. I think we can see who the threat possibly was/is.

Interesting that the BBC made the jump from indecent images to porn. While that's usually the case I don't think they're one and the same (though I'm not familiar with the law).

Pornography covers anything of a sexual nature but there are different types.

It isn't illegal to store a picture of a naked woman off a razzle website but it is illegal to posses indecent images of a child.

Both would fall under pornography though.

That's what I'm starting to think, if it's true though it's sick beyond belief that they would use their own daughter to fool the masses with a fake kidnapping.

The Uncle and Mother arrests make it look like this might be the case, but Daddy doesn't fit... well unless he's just a pervert. If so, then bonus for catching the b'stard and lets hope he's picking up the soap in prison for some time to come.

Mother has been arrested .. on the news now. Some people were suspecting it was a hoax or something along those lines "to get the attention, support and money the McCanns got" at the time but with every passing day this is looking more and more like the truth. Quite absurd now.

That's what I'm starting to think, if it's true though it's sick beyond belief that they would use their own daughter to fool the masses with a fake kidnapping.Perhaps they needed/wanted the cash or just some sympathy and/or their "five minutes of fame".

If so, then bonus for catching the b'stard and lets hope he's picking up the soap in prison for some time to come.Well you mean the stepdad? If the mother/uncle/stepdad/step aunt/step grandmother were in on this I reckon the only innocent party, besides Shannon herself, was her biological father.

Also wasn't there some talk in the first few days Shannon was missing that she'd been telling her dad she wanted to live with him?

I wasn't prepared to accept that a family would go so low as to 'abduct' their own child for money and fame. How stupid am I going to look if that's what happened?

If it's true and they end up in prison, they'd better be put in solitary for their entire time there as god alone knows what'll happen otherwise. :/

I was just about to post that! You've got to have some serious balls to pull something like that! Those 2 deserve to have the key thrown away, doing that to their own daughter out of their own sheer greed. Utterly despicable in my book.

It is understood one request to the fund was made by a man claiming to be a freelance journalist who was seeking money to help in the search for Shannon.

The Madeleine fund later received a one-line email asking for money, and on another occasion someone claiming to be close to Shannon's mother made a call to representatives of the McCanns.

Nice bit of pointless journalism there then. Three people who they have no clue who they are contacted the McCann's representatives. The BBC News article, whilst not saying they are linked to the family, suggests it by its very context and tone of it.

They could have done a whole different story "Con artists try to take advantage of Shannon families misery" or whatnot (that happens a lot including a fair bit with the McCanns) with the evidence they've brought, but no, they have to make it seem more sinister than it may well be.

The McCanns are bloody clever, and im sorry to de-rail the thread but how clever of them to change the subject over why their child was crying and asking them not to leave her and instead harp on about how outraged they are that information was released.
Grrrr! What about your upset child you prats!
