View Full Version : The Day After Tomorrow
This had better be good  ;D
Crap CGI so far.
LONG LIVE REAL SFX!!!
The cowboy out of Brokeback Mountain is in it. Maybe I'll go get a kebab. Ooo the break. Ideal time.

Haha. Yeah it isn't the best film. Muchos CGI and the director has admitted he took it too far, on purpose. :D
English people are getting killed
Jolly bad show.

I say old chap, what a poor show what what.

I'd start running up some stairs right now if I were you folks :D
Hurrah! To England!

Edit: what was he expecting to run on just half a litre of scotch?
Brrr I'm getting cold just watching this. Might have to click the heating up a notch.

I really like this movie :o
It's completely sensationalist but some of the effects are awesome and it's easy watching :)

Agreed, it's an easy-cheesy film :)

Don't watch braveheart whatever you do ;D
Stephen - "If I risk my neck for you, will I get a chance to kill Englishmen?"................
..................Wallace - "And the answer to your question is yes - if you fight for me, you get to kill the English."
Stephen -"Excellent! Stephen is my name! I'm the most wanted man on my island. Except I'm not on my island, of course."
:p
I like the first hour for all the destruction and the girl in it for er medical reasons ;)

Got bored after 30 minutes and ended up watching V for Vendeta instead. Equally bad film.
Ended up watching Das Boot till the wee hours which was fantastic :)

Strangely enough I've had the DVD for 2 years now but never watched it incase it wasn't as good as I remembered it being when it was on BBC2 in 1995(ish). It was as good if not better, it should be the standard on how to build suspense in a film.

 Blasphemer!!
I remember watching it on BBC2. Mum loved it and presumably knew about it before it was on TV. She watched it without fail. I watched it as well when I was able to squirm out of going to sodding Judo.
95-96 I think it was yeah. :D
Is it the full version you've got? The original was so long that they didn't release it on DVD in its entirety to begin with. I think we now have got the full version. Apart from Der Unfall (Downfall) it is the only WW2 movie made from a German perspective and with German actors and is quite brilliant. :D

I've had a few bad experiences with stuff I remember being great in my youf and being ****e when I watched it as an adult so I was very pleased when it turned out to be tip top last night.
It is very strange watching a film/series where the Germans are the protagonists. There was a point where they were hunting a convoy and I was really gunning for them until I realised they were hunting the kind of Merchant Navy ships that my Great Uncle was on during the war.
Nothing like getting up early after finishing Das Boot at 0230. I'm not sure I can think of anything else that goes on for soooo long whilst keeping 100% of your attention (I don't think strippers last that long).
Did they show it in German with subtitles or dubbed into English? I think the dubbed version loses a lot and much prefer to watch it in German with subbies.

On the DVD you can choose from lots of dubbed languages but as I have GCSE/A-level German, studied WW2 a bit in GCSE History and have an interest in WW2/Germany between 1914 and 1945 I always watch Das Boot in German with English subtitles. Helps me to understand the German language when I hear words I know and can map them to the subtitles.
I LOVE The Day After Tomorrow!! It's AWESOME!
Disaster movies rullllllllllle! And this one has it all! Big meteorites, TWISTERS - and lots of them (I love twisters - I'm desperate to see one - they rule!), floods, snow cold super freezing stuff, no fud or nowt, BIG BOOMS and and and lots of stuff! All that was missing was zombies!
The effects are awesome (was completely wowerfied in the cinema) and yeh, okie, slightly shabby storyline but that's gooooooooooood! It also then allows you to think "ooh I would do this and that and Oh oh OH I would of done this" and plan your own armageddon! :D
Genius. Loved it. Bought it. Got it. Want to watch it now! Will do!
I think I have a high tolerance with films.... I'm easily entertained lets say :)
Is it just me? Am I the only one that reads posts like the above and think of someone drinking an entire pot of coffee, digesting it, then posting?
It's funny, because I always love reading your posts, Pheebs. But occasionally they convey an almost hyper sense caffeine induction. ;)
P.S. I also got cold watching Day After Tomorrow. Funny thing is though that both the wife and I thought at the same time, "Bah, folks around here would just throw another log on the fire and reminisce about the blizzard of (insert year here) where it was ten times worse...." :D
they convey an almost hyper sense caffeine induction.
She is like that in person too :D
She is! I think you have to be a bit hyper to manage to win sleep deprivation contests. ;D ;D

I got bannz0red from the coffee by my doc a while back :( Barely touch the stuff now - have an odd cuppa tea though... which has equal amounts of caffeine but ahh well :D
I do tend to get a bit excited about things I love (or hate). Canny help it :) But honestly not as bad in RL! I think the likes of Fakeysnakey and Jasper will back me up here :)
In the filum, I just heart the bit where that reporter dude gets hit by a big bill board! I go WOOOOAH everytime I see it!
Genius filum. Gee - knee - us.
Pheebs, please don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to dog on you or put you down. I look forward to reading your posts as they are always bright and cheerful.
That being said, I get the impression that you're like Phoebe from Friends, except you have common sense and considerably more brain cells...

\o/ :) Hence my name - tis what my friends called me at school as I used to sit in the corner playing the guitar and singing stupid made up songs (badly), thus reminding them of phoebe! (though it's also my communion name too!)
Did you guys seriously not enjoy The Day After Tomorrow? I canny wait to watch it sometime this week me :D
I'm not trying to dog on you
Boy did I misread this the first time round ;D
