So on my journey home today i missed a camera van on a bridge, slowed down but fear it was too late. I reckon i was going about 80+ (actual) soooo what are my chances on a fine (which id rather do without :p). Save the lectures too :p I understand young babies are culled every time i edge above 70 ;D

These cameras tend (and I say tend) to cut off at about 82-83 or so I'm told but they are operated by humans and it will depend where they have it aimed at the time. I've been done for 86 with an over motorway job so if your close or over that I'd be concerned :(

I thought the cut off was 79 but hope you don't get a ticket

yeah tbh i'm just waiting its obviously going to happen, harsh way to make me slow down but i guess it may work (in the short term :p) or just get wiser... Was trying to talk myself into not having to worry about a fine coming through but i'll get over it! :D

I was prepared for one last October when I went under one at about 90. It was hiding behind a corner as always and it was too dangerous to brake by the time I saw it. Never got a ticket though :)

Anything yet?

It might've been an ANPR van looking for untaxed/uninsured cars.

Just a warning - I got done at 80mph on a 70mph dual carridgeway by a camera van, so don't believe what you've been told.

Are you a free man now Mr Dust?

If it's a speed camera if you're under 77 you'll probably be OK. Over 77 and you'll get a ticket, over 86 I think it is and you'll go straight to court. Chances are it'll be an ANPR van though.

Interesting, I got booked three weeks ago doing 85 down a dual carriageway (not a motorway, an A road). So does that mean I was 1mph off a visit to the local magistrate?

I see no reason for the 70mph limit. I was driving perfectly safely and in near perfect conditions. Traffic on the road was virtually non-existent. Needless to say, I haven't altered the way I drive a jot since I got the ticket...

Had exactly the same thing on the A417 near M5 J11A last year and never heard a thing. Went under it at around 85-90mph (don't ask why - I really don't know) and was the only thing on the road so was certain I'd get done but nothing. Can only assume it was an ANPR van rather than a speed camera.

Awesome, i'm driving back to Edinburgh on monday i think i'll keep an eye out this time :p My symbian tomtom has went a bit mental unfortunately, its stopped warning me of POI's i think its because i've put too many on it, i cba arsing around with it just yet, its quite tempremental!

I managed to get back to Edinburgh this time without issue too, so maybe i'm learning, well that or paying more attention to scamera vans :p
