View Full Version : The Apprentice is BACK!
On tonight! BBC 1, 9pm!
*iz excited*
I _know_ I am going to get angry watching this and I _know_ I will go "WAGH! I wanna go! They're all too busy being pompous plonkers and don't have a clue!" but... it's compulsory watching!
There's a few young'uns in too, which is exciting! If I liked London I would probably have considered giving it a bash but the whole black snot thing REAaaAAllLLly makes me go bleurgh.
Can't wait. Really can't.

Last years was ace. I must admit that I'm looking forward to it. I'm not a fan of the xfactor or ice skating types, but boring business is ace watching :)
I'm really looking forward to this :)
Me too, we didn't spot any filming opposite this year though so I'm not sure if the exit scenes were recorded at the Amstrad building or not. Be interesting to see how they push it, what with SAS and Amstrad now..
I KNEW I would get angry! It happens everytime!
Seriously... taking fish to a Solicitors... that was just diabolical. I couldn't believe it! What numptys! AND THEN! THEEEEEEN! To accept £50 for it all - WHAT MORONS!
The dude that was fired was such a nonce! His porn star glasses - LOL! Couldn't stop laughing!
I think the person that will get up my nostrils most next will be either Raef or that girl who wore the beret all the time. First impressions she seems like a complete snob! Who in their right mind would wear a fluorescent pink beret whilst selling fish! And Raef. Well no comment! What a mop haired thesaurus speaking weirdo!
Loving it ;D
It just proves that being born into a good family with good education doesn't mean you'll be a good business person - well not for a tv show anyway. I don't think all this scenario is that plausible really - it's designed for tv and I'm sure a lot of it is played up to that fact.
However that barrister chap was a bit of a nonce. There are about 3/4 girls that riled me too.
I think Raef is going to be the one that they keep all the way to the last programme because he's entertainment value and will keep the viewing figures high. I'm finding him quite comedy really.
I must be the only person that can't stand the show. Alan Sugar is a right knobber, and the apprentices all aspire to be like him. I'd rather pull up a chair in front of the washing machine for an hour. It needn't even be on.
Just say it like it is matey ;D
One does find Raef funny doesn't one. Captain Top Gun really did look far too silly in those glasses. He turned up to the studio in them on the after show. Its a studio! That means he was wearing them simply because he thought he looked cool. What a dink. Little Miss Beret was hilarous too.
Alan Sugar is a right knobber
I don't think it would work if he wasn't. Much the same reason why shows like the Weakest Link seem to work.
Anyone know what happened to the winner of the last series? I've heard rumours he didn't last very long.
As far as I know he's still with SAS and doing well.

I KNEW I would get angry! It happens everytime!
Seriously... taking fish to a Solicitors... that was just diabolical. I couldn't believe it! What numptys! AND THEN! THEEEEEEN! To accept £50 for it all - WHAT MORONS!Yup. Les Girls dun good by going to a restaurantey-woo. But starting off at £100 with the customer wanting it for £50 and going lower until they got to £50 was a joke. Where was the negotiation? If you want more than £50 and he wants it for £50 walk out and find another place to sell it.
The dude that was fired was such a nonce! His porn star glasses - LOL! Couldn't stop laughing!Did you see him on the BBC2 show after? Walked on with his glasses. Complete nonce!
You think exactly like me! :D Raef is just a twerp. "morsels" instead of "mortals" at the beginning and "most scariest thing" at the end. :numpty:

Just watched this weeks and caught the first one on repeat... looks like another series I will be watching then.

Just watched it and Sir Alan again as usual chooses the wrong person to fire, oh dear
Grrr that ginger woman irritated me. What a cow, an ignorant condescending and useless moo.
I was very impressed by the boys team last night, I really didn't expect them to manage to get the entire lot completed by the end of the time allowed but they pulled together when they needed to and just seemed to knuckle down and get the work done. They perhaps could have negotiated a slightly higher price for the hotel work but I think that they just accepted that was the going rate and went with it.
The girls on the other hand just didn't have a clue, they were quoting dry-cleaning prices for laundry at the hotel and quite obviously didn't know what to do when challenged. It then got worse in the opposite direction when they quoted for the other job at a tenner originally!
The team leader should have been the one to go, she treated them like little kids and really didn't seem to have any control over her team whatsoever, although the doris who was fired didn't really defend herself in the boardroom and I got the impression that she didn't expect to be dumped on in the way she was!
They perhaps could have negotiated a slightly higher price for the hotel work but I think that they just accepted that was the going rate and went with it.
I said exactly that when it happened!
The Boys: "We'd like to offer you £500 for the lot"
The Hotel Guy: "Right I see. It's an alright price. Room for negotiation?"
The Boys: "Yes there is... what would you normally pay?"
The Hotel Guy: "£200"
The Boys: "We'll do it for that then"
WHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! ROOM FOR NEGOTIATION!! Silly SILLY boys.
The team leader should have been the one to go, she treated them like little kids and really didn't seem to have any control over her team whatsoever, although the doris who was fired didn't really defend herself in the boardroom and I got the impression that she didn't expect to be dumped on in the way she was!
Spot on bubba! She was a nonce! If she had spoken to me like that in the situation they were in I would have just accepted what she said quietly - maybe put forward a couple of suggestions - but all in all I would have been quiet as I would have thought "she's bound to get fired... she's a tit". IRL though, she would have got a gob full back.
Raef... wasn't that bad yester actually! So that's good! The guy I don't think is any good what so ever is the one who did the camp dance after the board room (which made me LOL so much - I even got Picky to rewind the show to play it again!) He's useless and wimpy (the one to TWICE fail to negotiate well over the past two shows)
The ex soldier boy FTW! :D
Gotta agree with Feek and Pheebs here. And I can't be 100% but did the hotel guy say *about* £200? Could have easily gotten at least £20 more there I reckon and without the shirt costs only a £80 difference between the two.
Little miss "be quiet I'm talking" was terrible, but can't say I was impressed with Lucinder either, think she's the beret woman and both breaking down in week two is a little early. Gotta agree with the PM on that one too, if you've got 3 minutes left just grab the stuff and the line about folding them to avoid ironing when people have paid for it, fraud!

Loving this series so far just as much as the past :)
It makes me laugh how these kids think they are all project managers just becuase they manage a few people somewhere. They are not the same thing. That said, the lads team this week did a superb job by working as a team, knowing their products and prices.

Nargis was the worst I thought.
I haven't finished yet...........You may now ask me a question.
I thought the boys were stupid as mentioned - there was not even an ounce of negotiation - if someone says £200 - you try to get it higher, even if you know you're going to accept £200 as the bottom line! No harm in trying!Yeah. Was that Mr selling fish to sharks guy there? Or was he in the other half of the team?
MarcLister
04-04-2008, 19:42
Oh god that Nargis, (from memory when it was on) was that when she was giving the 'presentation' (it hurts me to call it that) and she cut the person she was presenting to off to say she hadn't finished when all she actually had left to say was ....if you have any questions please feel free to ask?
*slaps head* That was awful.;D;D;D Yep. Stupid girl. On this Worst Mistakes show one of the other girls said that Nargis had told them on no account to intervene, so on no account did they intervene. Cue Nargis next shot saying that no-one intervened to help her!
The boys were v the girls Marc so yeah he will have been :)I meant was Michael there in the room or was he with the other lads going door to door. I think he at the hotel as it was Raef, Little Britain lookalike and Michael at the end quaffing coffee with the other lads slaving in the laundry.

How can a program that every person makes you cringe be so compulsive viewing :D
Personally I could see Ian (think it's Ian, the TL) setting Kevin up about 10 minutes in having the meeting assigning roles. Getting ready to be a loser there?
Just after he got them all the pledge their allegiance to the task, hmmm.
Chuckles
09-04-2008, 22:34
Yeah Ian was almost as rubbish as the TL from last week. How she got through I have no idea.
I so can't wait for next weeks. :D
I avoid the trailers at the end of each episode specifically so the next weeks task comes as a surprise. Same with all programmes on the telly, those trailers really piss me off.
Yeah me too, but only on shows with a big story I'm trying to follow. This is a bit of fun.

What I can't believe is that all the candidates claim to have management skills yet none of them show any not do they seem to have any common sense.
There is one thing being a manager of people but it's another thing being a manager of a project. Quite frankly, as a PM and development manager myself, it was embarrasing to watch.

I think the standards have definitely gone down in choosing the contestants this series.

I don't know how they cocked up the filenames. It says on the screen. Its how I know who's who when I do street portraits. Very simple stuff. The other team were funny too. "I can't use my phone... Ok you're doing processing..." *cue xp error sounds*

Why on earth didn't either team go through a test run before taking on order tut tut.
and why mugs and stuff.. surelely just keep things simple.
Simon clearly mistook the enthusiasm of his hobby would make him a good project management.
That said, it should either Alex that went because he clearly has a problem with authority or Claire becuase she is so bloody abnoxious. Having a loud rude mouth doesn't make you a good manager. It just gets people backs up.

LOL at Kevin - god bless him - he's just a big bundle of confusion isn't he!
Why on EARTH didn't they do National Nerd Day! WHHHhHhHhY!
Poor poor Zara (is it zara?) She really didn't deserve the grilling she got back at the house. I would have been EVIL with them lot if I was there.
YAY for Raef! \o/
Well. That episode made me cringe and so so so angry! I want the opportunity to pitch my cards to Clintons and the rest :( Must look up Jennifer huiey in a bit. She seemed an interesting lady.
Man. I so so SO wanted to be on that one. BADLY.
:(
Clair & Jenny need to **** off. They really deserve a shoeing.
The blonde chap not the loser this week but the guy with the mop of hair (Alex??) hardly says anything as you can tell he just doesn't agree with anything any of the project managers have come up with in the past. He's become increasingly quiet which I find odd.
Sara's ok she's not really been given a chance, but maybe she's just not strong enough to be heard which doesn't have to be a bad thing, but at the same time it's not very confidence inspiring.
Jenny should have been the one to have been fired. As much as I hate Clair I dont think she was THAT bad this time but I still hate her
I like Raef he's well balanced. Michael is an arrogant sod, the tall cockney guy I haven't really got an opinion on. The Irish girl is also a little odd.

Michael is an arrogant sod:thumbsup: Cannot stand him either. He's so smarmy and "innocent" and easily offended. Him ringing the Telegraph editoring department. ;D

Interesting to see two go last night! I had that ginger bird (Jenny) sussed a long time ago. I thought it was Lucinda who was the instigator of all the pedantic arguments but actually it was Jenny starting it and continuing to argue for seemingly no reason. Good riddance.
I do wonder if 2 went because they were rubbish or because of scheduling.
Really three were fired last night.
Lipstick Jenny
Ginger Jenny
and
Ginger Jennys chin.
My goodness. What a chin.
Admiral Huddy

I loved the Lipstick Jennifir (Irish lass) for all the right ( or wrong reasons)!
I'm not sure about any of the candidates really. All of them lack the drive of basic common sense and each is treating this more of a game than the interview of which it is.
Being a team leader is one thing but everyone has a resonsibility of being part of a team. Apart from 3 that I can think of each is out for his/her own. I can understand this but if you end up on the winning side that you haven't got the problem of being fired.
If they stop bitching and arguing and actually settle down to the tasks then they'd get more done.
I thought last nights task was a tough one to manage. Personally, I would have deligated an item to each of my teram and all meet back at some point.
There were too many people interfering and negotiating.
'orrible Jenny swas right to go.

The apprentice has to be one of the most successful series, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they hate it. Even Lost/Heroes and the like some people just don't like them - be it the lack of answers or anything else.True. I got my Mum to watch the first show of this series as I was at home for it and wanted to watch it. She didn't but I won her over. She doesn't like reality TV but she admitted it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be.
But who can hate a show with cracking lines such as "Central London is near North London"! I mentioned that to my mate on MSN. He has TV so he watches it and goes "ooh" and "what idiots" etc to annoy me. Then I watch it on iPlayer as I can't get TV signals in my student flat. :( But when Michael uttered that line I just grinned from ear to ear. Really Sherlock, north London and central London close to each other. The mind bloody boggles it does! ;D
How the **** is Michael still in?! That guy is a waste of space. Alex isn't exactly charismatic either. And Helene - learn to pronounce your name properly you pretentious moo!
I always think the girls look prettier when they're on the after show on BBC2.
I think it'll be close between Lucinda and Lee - as much as I'd love Raef to win, I reckon the other two have a little extra.
Unlikely as it is I agree with the comments on the BBC2 aftershow, Lee and Raef for the final!
Alex is a nob, Michael is a bigger nobber - he opens his mouth and just irritating stuff comes out... he is sooooooooo lucky to be on next week.
That other one who shouts 'GET IN!' won't be in the final either... he annoyed Alan too much.

Have either you or him seen any episodes of the American version? I think you'd both like it, it's definitely funnier, and quite different from the UK version. Have a little clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZwYA_qK2Bo
Caught an episode while I was in Chicago a couple of weeks back and it was even worse than the UK version.
My fundemental problem is that I have virtually no patience for incompitence or stupidity in the work place hence my dislike of The Office and Apprentice. The American version of The Office is even worse as the biggest ****wits I have to deal with work out of our Atlanta office.
