It has been rumoured to be a new city but personally I think they'll probably just add staten island as that wasn't released at launch.
A new city would be awesome but then it would be a question of which one would they do? Chicago? San Fran? (that would be sweet).
More than likely it'll be just even greater depth in the city with more buildings being opened up, more missions to do etc.

Got to be 360. Whilst the DLC is a bonus, I think the real seller is the online play and the way it's handled on the 360.

No GTA for me today, apparantly Parcel Force don't collect on Saturdays so even though Game said it was dispatched, they'll only collect it today for delivery tomorrow. Bastards, getting my hopes up.
I'm just going to nip to Sainsburys in the morning and try my luck. If I get no joy there then I might try Woolworths.
I might even try my luck and see if Sainsburys have got their stock out tonight. It should be pretty quiet so I can track down one of their people and see if they'll let it go early ;D

I have 1 chance which is Game in Birkenhead in the morning. Its inside a shopping centre so they won't be able to open early. I wanted to avoid getting up early. I have to now.

Wooo I haz the GTA4. Game apparently opened at 8am, even though the shopping centre doesn't open till 8:30. I walked in around 8:20ish and it was empty. I fully expected them to say sold out but they didn't. Surprisingly they only had a small queue too, and a brief fight when someone who had to get to work jumped it. There were no queues of 200 people like Asda.

Well, yeah :) Some of us have been following its development, the series since GTA1 and just know it's going to be the best game this year. I've been dying to get my hands on it and I see no reason to delay. However, annoyingly the HDTV is in the conservatory and typically its the sunniest day ever so I have to wait till the sun moves around the house so I can actually see the screen. Why god why?

Have to say I'm kind of in the same boat as you mate. I don't understand all the rushing out at midnight to try and get a copy. Only reason I went out before work this morning is that it's the only chance I'll get all week to get it and we're away next weekend too so I'd then be waiting until next week.
I refuse to stand in in line at midnight waiting for something since I work during the day. As I type this I have been informed that the postman has just delivered my copy at home :D :D That's my night sorted now :D

I'm a bit stumped too, I still did it though, I think it was for fear of a Wii fiasco and there not being enough copies to go around.

I've never been to a midnight launch for a game, but I did goto a Harry Potter one with my mate to keep him company. That was just as busy as Asda was last night. The only reason I went last night was because of the crazy sales rumours. I feared that come morning all the shops would have sold out, and it seems that some may have. Thankfully my trusty Game store didn't let me down.

I've only ever done a midnight release once, and that was for the Dreamcast many years ago. I remember playing it till 4 in the morning and being especially tired the next day (I didn't have the same stamina I do now ;D). Nowadays I'm happy pre-ordering as I know (barring any problems) I'll get it on release day.
Mine arrived! Apparently the box is rather heavy...
Boss has just walked in the office and after joking to him that I wasn't feeling and need to go home, he said to me " We'll see how busy we are in the afternoon, if we aren't then you can go early" :D

omg i just shot my way into a bit of a situation... just driving down the road, thought i'd see what LB does... next thing i know i've just shot a cop walking the streets and now i've got a helicopter after me and tooo many cops. don't know what to do, can't see me being able to shoot my way out of this!?!

The cars do not like to go around corners at speed I found and using the handbrake just makes the car spin around :( Oh and I officially suck at pool and bowling :(

I've banged Michelle, done some work for LJ (your right he is hard to understand but Badman is WORSE!), done Roman's jobs, and all of the ones the rude guy in the bar gives you, he won't be giving me anymore, met the local russian boss and done some work for him and started stealing cars for some jerk who I'm sure is modeled on a movie star and voiced by him too.
I've found out I can't bowl and that my driving is greatly improved when I am driving very fast expensive cars. Oh and shooting gangs of bikers is fun :D

At one point last night I had 29 friends online (possibly the most at one time ever), and 28 of them were playing GTA4.
I'm enjoying the game so far. I think it's starting a little slowly, something all GTA games do, but it's definitely fun. There's so much to do it's hard at times to actually decide what I want to be doing. The cover system is excellent so far, really liking the shooting side of things compared to previous games. The hand to hand fighting isn't much good though (or perhaps I'm not very good at it), seems a bit too slow for my liking. I'll probably just shoot people in the face instead.
aye i found that fist fights aren't a good option, but tbh witha knife and more guns that i could ever use up (like 1600 pistol rounds) you don't need to punch anybody really.
anyway, i really wanna get playing again. I ended last night at an interesting stage where i can't really decide whats going to happen next :/

Really enjoying it myself and really like the way stuff is discovered as I get round to doing it. For example I discovered the car wash this morning so that is a new thing on my map.
As Davey said the things are a little slow at the moment but it's to be expected. The only person I can do work for at the moment is Vlad, but I've met Brian and given him a lift so I'm sure I'll see him around at some point.
The bowling is good fun, got 1 strike and 2 spares :) Darts is good for a laugh though a little easy to hit the 180s. Caberat (sp?) is an interesting idea and the shows can be fun. Getting drunk is hilarious but can get very very sickening the longer it goes on ;D Haven't visited a strip joint yet.
Driving was really really difficult when I first started but changing my view to 1st person and just seeing over the bonnet my driving improved no end. I can corner better and judge distances much easier.
I've made it to the 2nd island despite the 6 stars and helicopters. I found that theres a footpath across the bridge with the road blocks on. I got on that and then ran along the train line into the subway. Killed some people for fun, 6 stars can't get worse, and casually left the subway. Within 30 seconds I was dead. Another time I managed to swim out and steal a boat. Drove to the 2nd island, 6 stars, nabbed a car and had a quick tour. I like that you can make it there, that theres no some invisible wall stopping you or something. I also had an altercation in the strip club that resulted in everyone dying.

I like the way that this game is different for everyone. I've not had any jobs from Vilad yet as I've been doing some taxi work for Roman and some crim stuff for LJ. It's good that you can take it in whatever direction you want to. Going to give Vilad a buzz tonight to see what he has for me :D

i always keep an eye out for them blue markers... found the Badman last, but was on the way to bang the mrs so had to leave him to his own devices - he wanted to get in my cop car but that seat was reserved for Michelle.
I like the way that this game is different for everyone.
As a 'neutral' it really sells the game to you. I've let a guy I work with read this and he's now off to Woolies at lunch to see if he can find it in stock ;D (Woolies are giving away GTA with any 360 console buy at the mo - so Arcade + GTA4 = £159.99 :|)
I haven't met Brian. I think that because you keep your weapons when you die I'm more of a criminal. I'll happily kill cops to attract more of them so I can get shotgun ammo then die.

One thing I did like was driving around with Roman I accidently tboned a police car. Got out to "deal" with the cops and accidently ran over Roman ;D and then got arrested. Went back to where I'd left him and couldn't find him at all. About 5 minutes later I get a call from the hospital to go pick him up, excellent.
You're the same a me Mark, just walked up to the blue markers, haven't seen any recently.
Oooh I did a similar thing last night with LJ. Car was on fire and I bailed out. He didn't. Car blew up and it says my friend is injured. Then I'm shot dead. By that time it was nearly 1am so I decided to call it a night. Not sure whats happened to him now. I also found that you can do a drive by in a taxi, however the driver usually runs off :D

lucky you. aye, you keep your money, but get charged health care so have to pay to respawn. if you check your stats you can see how much the hospital bills have set you back!
I've died a few times thanks to the law. jumped of a ledge once when running from a chopper and about 8 cars... didn't realise it was about 5 stories high at the time :shocked:

Two awesome moments last night. I found a guy sitting on a wall by a cliff. I had to push him off :D Then during a gun fight with some cops a taxi got scared and drove off a cliff. I really like those random comedy moments.
I just find myself laughing at the adverts on the radio. The stations are brilliant...keep flicking the The Vibe at the moment :D

At one point last night I had 29 friends online (possibly the most at one time ever), and 28 of them were playing GTA4.
Yesterday afternoon I had about the same amount which was quite amazing for a mid week afternoon ;D
I notice Jen hasn't been in this thread ;D too busy playing ;)
I wish :( Unfortunately for me, lady luck despises me at the moment and my cold has turned into the nearest to full blown flu I've ever had. Spent all night awake shivering and feeling like poo, and I've only just got up. Hoping to be well enough to play later on though :)
But for now I'm off back to bed because I can feel my temperature soaring again. Grrrr.
Got another few missions done tonight. Spoke to Vlad a few times and did some runs for him. This game is great :D
Whoever came up with the mobile phone idea is genius. I mean, Iknow it's a fairly obvious choice as we all have mobiles these days, but the way you get to chose who you call, what you do, who you answer to...it's just so different to anything else I've seen.

Well died quite a bit last night after going on some cop killing rampages. A fun place to get the cops to chase you is into cluckin' bell (I think it's called) and just mow them down as they try to get through the doors ;)
I found out last night the cops don't like you trying to steal a cop car then killing them when they get in your way. Took quite a while to get rid of them and the damn helicopter that was following me :D
Died for the first time last night. I was on a bridge, with police blocking both exit routes. Slow motion death via a car explosion was pretty arty and impressive.
I was trying to steal a chopper from the airport this morning but couldn't find any :(
Mind you, roaring down the runway with the cops chasing you was a good laugh :D

I love Molotovs. There's some on the boardwalk by the bowling alley, always nice to grab when you're on your way for a quick game :)
I'm definitely getting into this more now. Spent last night doing some missions for random people (including a nice knee capping job), got taken to the gun shop, played some darts, and did a couple of delivery missions, and a car stealing mission. The game gives you so much to do it really can be difficult deciding how to spend your time! :)
I like organising to meet Roman and then not turning up. It's the little things that make the game!

One thing I found last night is that turning on the subtitles means I can read and understand what they say in Russian, as it gives the English translation at the bottom. Even with the subtitles though I still don't have a chuffing clue what Badman says. One love me brada!

One thing I like about the gun shop is that in previous games you paid a certain price for a weapon, then to get more ammo you had to pay the same price again. In this game you pay a certain price for the weapon, then a lesser price for more ammo. Definite improvement and it'll make it easier to make sure you're always stocked ammo wise :)
In the mission where you had to smash the laundry window I couldn't figure out how to pick something up and throw it so I just kicked it in. Are there only certain objects you can pick up or have I missed the pickup key? I went after a garbage can but just ended up knocking them over like I was drunk.

it tells you what you can pick up. If you stood in front of the laundry window and did a 180, went behind that building you could see some rocks. Walk over and it would tell you to press LB to pick up the rock then hold RT to charge your throw :)

Yeah, there is a green dot on the mini map showing you where it is. :)
I did that mission the other night. I noticed on the map that there was a green dot so I ran over to it and it showed me something I could pick up. Run back to the shop and lobbed a brick through his window :D

A little story from last night:
Found a motorbike, and happened upon a long stretch of road with a jump at the end over a freeway. Hit the jump, stacked it onto the freeway. Got up and dusted myself down and a lone car came hurtling along, right up against the barrier so I had nowhere to go. The dude managed to stop the car and got out, having a go at me asking if I was blind. I shot at him with my pistol which smashed the glass in his open door, and I shot him in the leg as he ran away. Instantly the police were alerted because of the gunfire so I hopped in his abandoned car and started to drive away. Got rammed into a lamp post and wedged, so jumped out to make a run for it. Lamp post fell on me and because I'd lost so much health from the jump I died.
Found a motorbike and the jump a second time and as I was going at full speed, inches from the ramp, a car turned lazily at the junction and once again I flew over the bonnet and onto the freeway. Arse!
Hahahaha.
I found a cool jump in the airport. Looks like the back of a skip or something but you can drive up it...it's a perfect ramp.

Absolutely loving this now. Rather than just explore and cause mayhem I've been doing missions, but even then it's amazing the random things you see. I'd just finished a mission for Brucie and needed a car, so jacked the first one I found. Rather than give it up easily, the guy decided he was going to try to open the door and pull me back out. Unfortunately for him I was speeding up, but instead of falling over he held onto the handle and was being dragged alongside the car. He refused to let go, so as I turned the corner I ploughed him into the wheels of a garbage truck that was coming the other way. I was laughing so much I instantly crashed into a wall ;D

I have :D It was great. They squeak and have dirt on the lens too. I don't think the helicopters are available till you get somewhere. Apparently they're there in mutliplayer so I'm staying away from multiplayer for now. I'll get them when I get them.
Trade in + Reward points + £10 = Got me a copy. Slow start but the city (or the bit I'm in) has hooked me already. So much going on, its great!

2 of what I thought would be the harder achievements got earlier - survive for 5 minutes on 6 stars, and walk away from a 4 star wanted rating. Both really easy as well when I figured out how. Happy to explain if anyone else wants the achievements :)
After having played on 360 and PS3 I have concluded that the PS3 is the console to have it on.
It just 'feels' better and SIXAXIS is awesome.

I probably wouldn't have bought it anyway, never been a fan of expansion packs. They all too often smell of cashing in rather than being a genuine creative desire to extend a game.
Flying helicopters with motion sensitivity is thoroughly awesome though :p
it's actually awesome! I was having troubles with it loading because of my Internet connection - bloody odd bug, that one. Really getting into it now though. Going to watch Star Wars then put it back on! Charlotte is asleep on the couch! :D

Ah, so a new franchise, rather than a new GTA. Game looks interesting, I wonder whether it will remain exclusive if it starts showing lots of promise and MS start waving their checkbook around.
I'd imagine there is similar chance of LA Noire coming to 360, as there is of PS3 getting the GTA DLC :)
edit - I think Red Dead 2 is gonna be PS3 exclusive too.

Yup, it's the first Playboy mission that opens up that island :) First time I found the Helicopters I went for a tour on one of them, though I thought it best if I flew it myself to make sure I didn't miss anything :D

Was just running along the edge of the river trying to lose a two-star wanted level for the blackmail mission and some guy just yelled "Nothing ruins a good workout like some scrawny pussy with a gun!". :D
Some of the one liners are brilliant. Keep hearing snippets of radio chatter and laughing till I crash! Pißwasser still get me.
Left it having failed my first attempt at the second Playboy mission (I think anyway, the one in the construction yard). Was quite difficult that, gonna go back with a flak jacket.
I've not done any more of his yet - just done the Snow Storm mission. Went in dressed in a suit carrying a sniper rifle looking very much like Hitman!

Still loving this...it's great to just pick up and play for a bit and then turn off again. It just works with this type of game. Some of the missions are superb and I like the way it unlocks different shops or perks as you go.
It's awesome. Some of the firefights later on are great! I go through grenades more than bullets!
I love when Brucie goes for a helicopter ride and just yells 'GET IN!'. ;D
Well that's it for me for the week. I'm off on a training course until Friday now. Can't believe I've done so much and still only 30% through!

I was round a friends Sunday night playing this, after doing the construction yard mission I was walking along looking for a car when I saw the heli-pad, I looked at my mate who said "you can't steal a chopper" "Just watch me!!" :D I then proceeded to steal said chopper and fly it aimlessly round till we crashed on top of a building with no way down except jumping :D Needless to say we died :D
There really is something about the characters in this that I don't think I've seen in another game. The cut scenes feel like they've been filmed and they had CG put over them. Theres characters I don't care about. Characters I make me want to put a fork in their eyes and characters that are really fun, like Brucie.
Decided to get back in the game, went online and found some chick to date. I go for the big sell, new suit, pick her up in a chopper, go see Ricky Gervais at a comedy club... Does she put out? Balls does she. What's a guy gotta do?
Take her on another date but this time jump out the chopper onto another building leaving her to plumit to her death :D
That'll learn 'er. Treat 'em mean and all that :D

Just did a proper hardcore mission! Dont *think* its story related...
It was for Packie - A bank job. Took about 25 minutes, mostly killing wave after wave of cops, and was a real great escape. Eventually finished it and netted $250,000! Couldn't believe it. Dont see how that can be story related but when it was finished the explorer achievement popped for unlocking all the islands, so I guess that's based on worth? :dunno:
Ace mission anyway - highly recommended if you've got the time, flak jacket and ammo!

I tried that mission 3 times last night. First time I killed myself when a grenade bounced off a wall and landed next to me :o 2nd time I got outside but then my car got trapped so I got killed. The 3rd time I managed to make it all the way home, but I was still being chased and my car went on fire. I leapt out but unfortunately my passengers weren't so quick, bloody idiots! I'll go back to it tonight as it shouldn't really be taking me 3 goes to get past it :/
One mission left to do (I think), was too tired to do it last night. The bank job was awesome, very Heat-like.

Finished chatting and decided to leave the club, on the way out I spy the stairs for the dancing platform, figured what the hell and walked up them. Next thing the bouncers are hitting me and everybody is running away screaming :o Time to make a sharp exit.
I ran up the steps once too. All hell broke loose and I ended up killing everyone ;D
