My trusty Sennheiser HD580 bargains have deadded themselves. The second pair I was using for spares are also deadded. :(

However, this make a good excuse for me to get some more new headphones. :D

Bought the Shure SE530's last month - and they rock. Got the custom sleeves made for them and they are now a perfect fit. Made them sound even better.

So - something to match up or beat them.

Got a local good hifi place who will let me try various sets so once I have an Idea of what I'm looking for, I can go in and spend some time in the quiet room testing some out.

Got a headphone amp today as well. Sods bloody law that my HD580's die on me now. :(

How about the HD595s or the 600 range?

580s are pretty much identical to the 600s
The 595s are a setp down from the 580s as far as I can tell.

600s are an option. Maybe even the 650s.

Was wondering if there was anything to compare to them from other manufacturers. My google-fu has failed me.

Beyerdynamic DT880s are in that sort of price range, as are some of the lower end Grados.

Re: Low-end Grados. I have an oldish pair of SR60s I used a few times and never got on with. Was going to flog them on the 'bay, but I'd certainly let them go here.

Comfort would be good. Will be wearing them for hours at a time.

Have tried a couple of the low end Grado's SR60 and SR80 I think - wasn't overly impressed. Found the HD580's more comfortable and sounded better.

Tried the HD595's - again, not as good as the HD580's

Now trying to track down a set of 580's...
