View Full Version : Chucking the missus out of a plane at 13,000ft-for CHARITY-sponsorship appreciated

Last September my Brother's wife and my wife's best mate Angie died of cancer at the age of 41

Cheryl ( my missus ) wants to raise money for cancer research in her memory and had decided to do a 13,000ft skydive over the Mojave desert ( near the Nevada/Arizona border ) on 7th June

If anyone would like to sponsor her and help a good cause it would be greatly appreciated, no amount is too small :)

Every penny raised will go to the charity as I am paying all costs involved ( sometimes the charity ends up funding the event, this is not the case here )

If you are a UK tax payer the government will also contribute tax relief through gift aid

You can sponsor her here

www.justgiving.com/cherylcolclough

All donations greatly appreciated, if you can't afford it then a couple of words of encouragement in this thread would also be nice

Thanks

Hehehe good excuse to eat more pies :p But you are contributing by paying the costs as a lot of the time the sponsor money has to cover these, and it usually ends up just doing this (in my experience) and nothing goes to the charity.

yes, seen that happen far too often with these "raise xxx pounds and jump for free" and as you say the charity gets next to nothing

And a worthy way of doing it too. I remember jumping with some charity money raisers it was always a good laugh. Actually that's where I got the inspiration for my OcUK moniker Freefaller - someone asked me my name and I said we'd be in "freefall" or something like that - and they thought I had said my name was Freefella or something like that! LOL! Anyway they had a wonderful time and raised thousands which was brilliant - 2 of them became full time skydivers that I trained!

I'm really impressed with anyone who takes the plunge as it's awesome fun but it's an amazing cause too. :)

I'll donate some money.

Without wanting to take it OT, you can actually be heavier once you qualify, it's just for learning they need to be able to man handle you in the sky to a suitable level, but most importantly it's the wing loading on the parachute, the heavier you are the faster the parachute becomes.
