We had loads of problems yesterday with a couple of server going down. Here's a few of the calls we got:
"Urgent - We have a number of trades that need to go in this morning and no one can get inot IBIS..."
"Citrix is not repodending..."
"No trades are coming through the summit trade feed..."
"We canot access our shared docs or calendars.."
"I can't get into facebook"
haha Made my day when I heard this :D
Cheeky buggers. How dare they complain about problems with Citrix while Facebook isn't available!
I've blocked Facebook at work although only from two of the proxy servers, it still works for the proxy that my guys use :)

That is quality!
Ha ha ha.... wouldn't DARE say that to IT though we are one of the people who are allowed to use it :p

I work for a small company so I don't have the love/hate relationship that people seem to experience with IT.
Who is worse though - Human Remains (Resources) or IT? I hear equally bad things about both?

HR are far, far worse. There is no point in them whatsoever.
Remove IT staff from a company for 48 hours and it'll grind to a halt. Remove HR staff and there'll be less red tape.
I've never seen an HR responsibility that couldn't be done by either payroll or the management team. When anything gets to serious, they have the get the solicitors in anyway.

HR by a country mile (though I'm IT, so I would say that).

I have pills to take if I'm away from Facebook for any extended time. I gets the shakes I tell ye :(
We moved our offices around a few weeks ago, and HR asked us to fill out some 'is everything OK now' forms. I just couldn't be arsed (as there was little point).
In the end, I was forced to fill one in. On every negative comment I made, I got a phone call from HR telling me I should speak to my manager about it. Why do they even bother. All they've done is send out a survey, even though there isn't a single question on it that they themselves are willing to deal with.

As with some others, working in an IT company means no-one complains about the IT department.
