View Full Version : A Red Rose
I havent posted anything here... well, ever, cos I tend to post over on TP, but thought I would share at least one shot from tonight :)

Hope you all like :)
Black background works brilliantly, the reds are captured really well too, which can be a pain.
Only thing i would have liked to have seen is a smaller depth of field to blur the leaves a bit more.
Very nice shot though!

You think? :)
I have some I took outside in the garden with a very shallow DOF, they both work well. But thanks :)
I'm the first to admit I have no expertise in this area...but I think its gorgeous.

I know I am, but what about the rose? ;)
Thanks Lana, you dont have to have expertise to know you like something :)

The rose has that amazing deep red which really well against the dark / black back ground.
Very good Photo
As mentioned above, a smaller depth of field would have made the pic a little better.
Still a good shot though
Me or Tyson? :p
It was a one off, I feel more comfortable at TP tbh :)

It's a shame you feel like that Dee, I would have thought it would have been nice to share you pics with your friends but hey ho.
To be honest guys, no pics here will ever get the same attention as TP. I prefer that place to here (in a tog sense I mean) I am not after an ego stroking, but I genuinely believe people here dont appreciate them as much, hey ho indeed :(
Besides, my friends know where to find my pics if they want to see them :)

The above 2 sentences would appear to contradict one another!
Nice rose, red can be a total pain in the ass to photograph - I can't remember the technical reason behind it as I'm no photographer, but bright red items can often lose surface detail when photographed.

Dont talk crap Leon ;)
I would rather have 20 people tell me its crap over at TP and how to improve it, rather than 2 people here simply saying "its nice"
Thats not against anyone thats posted in here already before you say anything :)

I seem to recall Lostkat telling me exactly that when I first got my D70 and posted what was a frankly awful picture of a half dead tulip or something on OcUK :p
Charming!!! Can't have been one of my pics - I've never even taken any photos of red tulips :p

I do reserve the right to make sarcastic comments about Canons being cheap and plasticy though ;)
