View Full Version : What a day

Last night my eldest (15) got rushed into hospital with stomach pains and had to have an emergency appendectomy this evening.

We spent the day before he went in messing about playing with his hydraulic bed and taking the piss out of each other. I walked him down to the anesthesia room and that was where he got got scared and was obviously trying not to cry. I was very good and waited until he went under the anesthetic before bursting into tears.

He was back in about an hour and grabbed my hand when he saw me.

He might be 6ft and in size 12 shoes but he's still my baby really.

I am now home with his brother and sister while his dad stays with him.

Phew. What a bloody day!

Awww bless him. Its so scary when your child has to have an op. I don't think it matters what age they are.

Hope he's feeling better soon *hugs* for you all.

Aw bless, I agree with the always be your baby thing, I dont have any kids, but when I had to have an operation at 25 I could still see the worry in my Mums eyes as she tried to hold it together.

Im sure he'll be back and shaking his appendix at you (thats provided he asked to keep it) in a little pot in no time!
:D

It really is horrific isn't it. It's the first time any of mine have ever really had anything wrong with them. Awful walking back to the ward and just praying that it's all ok and that nothing bad happens while they're under or that they don't react badly to any drugs and all number of things that could go wrong going round in your head.

Knip - they wouldn't let him see his appendix because it was infected! He was well put out!

A big boo hiss for the silly appendix then!
My Dad and my sister never got to keep theirs either, me Dads had already exploded and was going for a wander round his insides!

I hope he's on the mend now :)

I don't think I'd be too keen if any of mine had to go under the knife - hopefully, it'll never happen.

He's back up doing Ozzy impressions with a legit shuffly walk again so I guess he's on the mend!

Josh was only a week old when he had his 1st op and i walked down holding him so close and was sobbing my heart out. It was horrible all i could think of was that it might be the last time i would be cuddling him.
I kept thinking how could he survive an op when he is so small.
It was a very long 3 1/2 hour wait.
Faysh and I just supported each other as much as we could.

2nd op was awful too he was then 9months and I had the same fears again. :(

:(

I hated holding him when he had the anaesthetic administered to him. Was even worse when he went in for his biopsy.

He's home!

His sense of humour is back - he just went for his first poo since the op (complete with sound effects) and proudly told me that he thinks he's shat out another appendix in the process!
