Do you have anything to aim them at or should we all start running?
;D

No need to worry I don't even shoot field ranges, so I'm not interested in live targets, I shoot on a range like this

Me was being silly - just for once, although its still glad to hear that your not interested in hitting "live" targets.

I'd probably miss you anyway ;), unless you stood very still at 50yrds or waited for me to get some sight marks :D

The bottom image, is that the sights?

I've never shot a "proper" (read: expensive) bow!

Yes its the 'sight' ;). A bow doesn't really have a set of sights just the front sight, the back sight is effectively whats called your anchor, thats the place on your face where you bring the string back to, as long as this remains consistant then moving the front sight is enough to adjust the aim of the unit :)

There is very little difference between an inexpensive recurve (training) bow and an expensive one, the unit is just better produced and hence more accurate and you can fit sights like you can see there. :)

No practicing in the house now... or the garden for that matter :p Always thought archery looked like a really fun and interesting sport.

About £450 including this

and a few other bits and bobs, pretty much everything needed to shoot for that price :) Sounds like a lot but once you have it then shooting costs almost nothing apart from club fees (~£70pa)

I think my friend has that same bag, or at least one very similar :) she is off shooting in the national uni comps this weekend.
I shall drag her along next weekend and you can talk archery.

Talk to Leo, he's done that for years. And I'm not talking about selling dodgy DVD players in the pub ;)

What weapon? Saber, Foil or Epee?

Foil to start with (that's the easy one yes?)

Arten Summit II sight, quite good middle of the road sight by all accounts :)

If you do want to get some practice on live targets, remember to head along to York, as it is still perfectly legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow (except on Sundays), inside the city walls.

Cool, what do you shoot? FITA or Imperial rounds? Our club tend to shoot imperial rounds outdoors as we don't have an indoor venue at the moment, we share with a rugby club which means we are very restricted in when we can shoot and what we can shoot (no all carbon arrows) :(

Might look to join another club in the winter so I can shoot indoors and upto 4 times a week, just once a week isn't really enough to get as good as I would like to be :(

Well does he have fast reactions? If not I'd suggest starting with Sabre as it's much more fun :)

Heya. I'm back. Stupid house moving. Mainly do FITA rounds since thats what most of the comps are. Were really lucky here as we have amazing facitilities and can basically shoot whenever we want, indoor or outdoor. Not that I shot for days due to moving house. :( sucks. I really feel sorry for people who cant shoot as often as I do!
