Want the 1080p link Feek? Just watched it myself, and its fantastic. Loving it already! My first real 1080 movie too actually very impressed with the quality difference, very noticable.

Yay, ta :)
Meh.
Modern Bond.
:(
Modern Bond is very much old school Bond. I've been reading the early books and the current style of Bond is so much more like I'd imagine he was. They've got it spot on now. No more comedy camp Bond crap.

It's just the actors...
Boghopper was dreadful, Craig, I can't comment on too much as the Casino Royal film was an abomination unto Nuggan and I couldn't bare to watch it all the way through. He did seem rather... personalityless.
The Bond closest to the books for me is still Dalton.

Flib, get with the times, bond may have changed evolved. But its still a great series, nothing stays the same forever! Casino Royale was a great piece of entertainment.
ta.
Can't quite fit 1080p on my 20" screen and quicktime goes spacky when it's resizing from 1920x1080 to 1680x1050 and the video is really jerky.

The World is not Enough, Die Another Day and Tomorrow Never Dies were bareable - but not great. Goldeneye wasnt bad. Casino Royale just annoyed the tits off me. I really prefered the book.
I think what it mainly is that I hate this rash of ultra fast edits in a film. Just to make it seem more energetic - stop it for gods sake!
Casino Royale just didn't engage me as a film. The black and white bit at the beginning was great - the chase through the building site was amusing - skill vs brute forge and ignorance. Then it went downhill. Actually - it's gone downhill since Cubby died in '96
On the plus side - Casino Royale didn't have much in the way of blatently obvious CGI though - which is thankfully heading in the right direction.
Before I watch Quantum of Sillyname *it's such a Monty Python title :D* I will watch Casino Royale. And then maybe watch the 2006 version ;)
Die Another Day was awful.
I don't know how you can slate CR and yet say DAD was watchable...
I feel sorry for Brosnan in a way. He was my favourite Bond but he given awful awful films after Goldeneye :(

I said Die another Day was bareable... not watchable. Got given the bond box set for christmas 2006 and all the Brosnen films are still in their cellophane.
I am one of those odd people who thinks Lazenby was better than Moore though, and that OHMSS asn't a bad film at all. Still, Thunderball rocks. ;)

You're not odd. Well, not in that respect :)

Just shown this to Kitten on the 42" TV (it looked ace!!!) and she's suddenly announced she's so "tired" and off to bed any idea why that is, Jen? :p
I'm sorry Flibster but I was shaking my head through pretty much all of your posts. I know it's your opinion but I'm sorry I have to disagree. DAD was just completely awful, the world is not enough I just didn't get on with. The first 2 bond films were good as they were to far fetched. I'm sorry but if a car has tiny little cameras which project what they see on each side why on earth is the guy hiding behind the car visible to all??
I thought Dalton was an excellent Bond he's probably my favourite but I'm sorry if you rank Moore above Brosnan we'll just have to agree to disagree.
Personally I think Casino Royal was an excellent vehicle to re-introduce Bond back to the masses and I think it was an excellent film. No film adaption will ever replace the book as it can never be everything to everyone and to disregard it because it isn't the same as the book is unfair.

;D;D
Obviously I have no idea what she could mean *looks innocent*
I personally like where they're going with the Bond stories. A lot more believable than some of the tripe that Dalton and Moore were forced to work with. Goldeneye and Moonraker are a couple of the worst. The whole concept of the story was ghastly.
This one coming up looks to be interesting. A continuation of Casino Royale. I like the idea.
Of course, anything with Judy playing the person in charge is going to be good!! I've loved her as an actor since she was doing "As Time Goes By". The creme of the crop was when she got to play in the same film as Geoffrey in Tomorrow Never Dies...
;D;D

*drools* :D
it's all lies, I was tired!!
New one looks ace, loved the last one too. I made a thread about it at the time iirc, first Bond film I've enjoyed in ages and it's not *just* because of DC walking out the sea in his trolleys.
For me, I quite liked James Bond films when I was younger but disliked Bond himself - found him rather two dimensional, an unreal, arrogant person with no real substance and something missing somewhere. With Craig, he's rounded, you see the reasons why he feels the way he does, you see humour where there was arrogance, a self-doubt that makes him so much more real than the other Bonds. I think the choice to do Casino Royale first to show how he got to where he was was a fantastic idea, and to carry on from there will see the sequel do brilliantly imo. I think you'll see less of the doubt and the emotion - that was to make him who he is and now he'll get on with the job.
I can't remember a Bond film being so long awaited, and I know people are talking about it with a buzz that wasn't there from the last one. CR has opened the Bond franchise to a whole new audience, and if they'd have continued with the silly CGI and the smarmy Bonds then they'd be dying out, not getting bigger.
Summed up perfectly there imo :) I never felt much excitement about the Brosnan ones (the only ones I grew up with in the cinema I'm afraid) but I was really excited about the progress of CR and that wasn't because of the bloke in it :p It just looked good and different from other Bonds I'd seen. I've only seen the Dalton and Brosnan ones, and one or two Connery ones (which personally I find cringeworthy but I'm sure that's controversial :p), but I know what I like. :)
I really do need to get my computer back up and running. This laptop just doesn't quite cut it when it comes to playing high quality video. Between Vista hogging all the memory and the video card being absolute crap, I can't watch anything HiDef without an annoying stutter to it.
Problem is, I can't find my video cable for my monitor otherwise I'd already be back on my own system. You know how hard it is trying to find a DVI to SVGA adaptor or a monitor that has DVI inputs? :p
What would be ideal is to find a DVI to HDMI adapter. There's a display model of an RCA 52" TV at work I could have for pennies on the dollar. Just got to get that house sold now...

Last time I went to my local one for a DVI-HDMI job they didn't have one :/
I had to reserve one online and then go and collect it (an hour later) because the currys digital in bluewater is staffed by mongs.
If it's not on the shelf they'll claim it's not in stock, so I went in and as expected it wasn't on the shelf and went to say that I'd reserved one and there's none there to be told that they didn't have any in after he went to look. I said "I've reserved it, the stock system says you have some" and he decided that he'd have another look and found loads of them!

Well with the news that Jack White and Alicia Keys have recorded the theme (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7532438.stm) for this movie, the BBC has put together a little quiz...
How Well Do You Know the Bond Themes? (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7533129.stm)
Almost ironically, this was my score :p
