Well she didn't fly on Sunday due to an alternator failure :(

I saw 2 sets of 5 planes going past my house really low, not sure what they were.
They look a lot like red arrows but they was white with red stripes on them. very nice and was the highlight of my day yesterday :)

Sounds like the Patrulla Aguila, basically the Spanish equivalent of the Red Arrows.

Just looked it up and they look like what i saw.
We get a lot of planes flying over our house at this time of year, but they have been the nicest so far. :)

They are lovely little planes. None of my pics came out well of them though :/

Shame Josh didn't see them go past our house.

Ah that take off brings back some memories from Biggin Hill when I was a kid. Just looks like it's rolling along the runway, nose flicks up at 45 degrees like it's bounced off a spring and it just piles into the sky at a steep climbe. Awesome

I've never seen a vulcan take off or land but I've seen one flying several times. :)

I used to live within a mile of HMS Daedalus where they had air shows every year.

Remember one year a vulcan did a couple of flybys over the airfield then came slowly overhead got to the middle of the airfield and basically put it's arse nearly in the ground and went almost vertical. :D Probably the loudest noise I have ever heard. :D

Full afterburner! I saw that when I was a kid, I can still feel the rumble in my chest now, just thinking about it.

I'd love to see that, but I think the chances of them doing that in the display these days are about as likely as me winning the Lottery. :)

Cool. I didn't know they retrofitted burners on the Vulcan! :p

They used to do a low flyby over Biggin Hill with the bomb doors open, point it practically straight up and nail it. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!

Lucky you. Apparently it overflew my house earlier this week. I say apparently as I had no way to tell which it was as it's been cloudy, there's been several flights, and they've all been bloody loud. :)

Shame I can't make it down there, despite being relatively local. Damn public transport. I had RIAT tickets (and a BAE enclosure pass) too. :'(

According to the test flights, the amounts of weight lost has made a dramatic change to the take off... on the inside anyway.

They used to climb out at 80% throttle. Now they can do it at idle and she still tries to accelerate  :D

She's supposed to be at Lowestoft air show next week so I've booked a day off work and bought train tickets. *crosses fingers*

Mark, what a shame RIAT was cancelled :( We'd have been in the BAe enclosure too :)

Saw her fly today, first time I've seen a Vulcan fly in over 20 years I think?

Awesome thing :)

bah to it all. Can someone arrange a personal flight please.

Mark
21-07-2008, 16:28
Yes please. BD Vulcan meet. :)

Failing that, shall we try again with RIAT 2009? (fingers crossed for BAe tickets too - they were somewhat oversubscribed this year).

Flibster

If I can find out when the next private day for the TVOC is - could possibly go see her at her home....

kaiowas
22-07-2008, 10:49
So yeah, looks like Lowestoft is out for us. :(

Got the train tickets already but I don't think vix is up to a day out like that with so many people about so soon, if it was another week away we might have managed it. Someone somewhere really doesn't want us to see this plane :(

Simon, any chance you can get hold of any details on the Vulcans precise movements for getting to/from Lowestoft, we're hoping to go out for a drive and park up on the flight path somewhere so we can at least see it fly over on it's way to/from the show

Had a quick ask.

No-one is wanting to let slip. :(

She may be making an appearance at Marham, so it could be the flightpath takes Marham in. She will be avoiding centres of population and as she has to fly VFR she'll be below 12000 ft. Other than that...

??????

She flies. I have proof.

/is happy.
