Used one of these yesterday on the 300D and it seems to have done the trick or cleaning the blob I pointed out in my Scotland thread. I had to do a few passes but it is an exceptionally easy tool to use and doesn't seem to have done any harm. I'd have been a little reticent to trial it 1D or a 40D but as the 300 wasn't hugely expensive I thought I would give it a go.

Its basically a pen shaped tool with a small triangular pad on the tip which is impregnated with a solution, you then wipe the pad across the sensor and dirt sticks to it and the solution disolves any sticky patches.

I'll take some pics over the next few days and check the results.

Cool, cheers for the heads up :)

I got a lot of dust in my 350D when I went to Cyprus and it ruined loads of photos before I spotted it. I've just used a cotton bud to gently hook out what I can see but it's far from ideal.

How resilient are the sensors to being touched?

More than anyone who cleans them commercially would have you believe ;)

The sensors themselves are covered in glass so you are actually cleaning the glass, you do need to be careful not to scratch them however and should treat them with some respect. The Lenspen shouldn't damage them at all :)
