Kitties!!! :D Aww they are gorgeous :) I can't do c&c but I can say they look like great photos :)
Some really nice shots. Those leopard shots are absolutely beautiful, both the profile shot and the head on. DOF is absolutely spot on and the sharpness of the whiskers really brings the picture out for me.
What's the cat in the first two shots? Looks like an insanely fluffy wild cat or something :p Love the second shot of him.
Also, where is this place??
I'm no expert but the leopard shots are amazing.
I also love the first lion shot - you can almost tell it's pondering life, or just thinking and observing.
Fantastic shots.
Cheers guys :)
The leopard is an "Amur" leopard and is truly beautiful. Wasn't sure whether the profile shot was spoilt somewhat by the fencing but there's not much I can do about that without cropping it severely. Both of those shots were taken with the 70-200 F4L IS at F4. This lens is so sharp you could cut yourself on it.
The fluffy little thing in the first two pics is a Pallas cat. It's about the size of a domestic cat but obviously a bit wilder. Very skittish and darted about a lot which maked it a pain to capture through the fencing so I'm quite happy with those two shots.
The place is the Big Cat Sanctuary at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation in Ashford, Kent. Went as part of a meet organised on the TP forums - about ten of us in total and cost was £70 per head. Sounds a bit steep but you get a full day there with one of the volunteers taking you round each of the cats and feeding them as you go. Highly recommended and would definitely consider going again next year sometime.

Lol how close did you get to the critter for that last shot!
Hehe. Put it like this, that nose shot was taken at 62mm (Sigma 17-70) and is about a 50-60% crop.
Basically lion on one side of the wire and me holding camera up to the other side so probably a matter of inches.
I'd love to have one of those as a desktop wall paper - if you didn't mind sharing it (happy to even have a copyright text on it). :)
Not a problem, have already supplied a few as wallpaper and have two on my monitors here atm. Not really bothered about copyright text either, as long as I have the RAW I don't mind letting JPEGs loose although maybe not at full 10mp res :)
Let me know which you're after and at what res and I'll sort it out.
BTW, there are a few more here:

The first lion one and the last leopard ones would be fab @ 1680 x 1050 if possible!
Have numbered them now, do you mean 4 & 6?
Drop me an email and I'll send them over.
Might have known it'd be a 70-200L. Damn it, I want one of those babies!!!
Sounds like a fantastic place, especially as I absolutely love big cats :)

Hi Vertigo1,
as a member of TP as well, do you know have many posts you have to make before you can start your own thread ?
Cheers
Obviously not in the same leage as the above puddy cats, but I quite like this one I took on Friday at Colchester zoo. Using a point n shoot and through some thick glass!

I don't tbh but I've only got 150 posts myself so it can't be that many. I know you need 100 to post in the For Sale forum so perhaps it's the same to start your own threads?
Thanks for the pics btw Toby - much appreciated :)

Perhaps it is 100 for most access points !
I will just plug away at the threads.
Mnay thanks
PS. do you know if they are doing any forum photo meets ?
Do you mean more Big Cat meets or just general meets?
If the former then I think they're all done or fully booked for this summer. If the latter then there are always loads of meets going on in the Meeting Place forum.
