Bios settings Help Needed.

I am having problems getting the ram to pass memtest. The ram came back yesterday from Crucial RMA. Here's a post I posted elsewhere to save me rewriting,
Any help about these here parts :)
I think I've had my head in this Bios to long & am missing something obvious, Please point it out to me & have a laugh as a reward.



I put this system together from 2nd hand parts last week & need some experienced eyes to look over my settings as although the system runs 3D 06 perfectly it locks up whenever I run memtest. With the settings below the system runs memtest Perfectly using some Corsair that I have but no matter what I try I cannot get it to complete memtest using my Crucial. The Crucial is RMA got back Saturday after the last set failed memtest, Is it me or the ram ?
I have upped the Volts by 0.40 with the Crucial taking it to 2.21v to try to help but still it locks up within 5 seconds of starting memtest.
Being honest building this system has pushed me but I have had my head stuck in & out of the Bios so much recently that I think I am missing something obvious.
Any help/advice would be Greatly appreciated, thanks for reading.

CPU Frequency - 2.66GHz (333x8).

PCI Frequency - 100.
CIA2 - Disabled.
Performance enhanced - Standard.
System Memory Multiplier(SPD) - 2.00.
Memory Frequency MHz 800 - 667.
DRam selectable Timing - Auto.



System Voltage Control - Manual.
DDR2 overvoltage - +0.40 bringing it to 2.21v.
PCI-E - normal.
FSB - Normal.
(G)mch - Normal.
Loadline Calibration - Auto
CPU Voltage control - 1.32500v

OK - just in case this BIOS supports it like my older board does, from the main BIOS screen, hit Ctrl+F1. This may get you even more options. :shocked:

If it does, then go back into the intelligent tweaker and make sure all the RAM timings are on Auto and any memory performance enhancements are set to off (Normal).

It's entirely possible the board is misreading the SPD on the memory chips, in which case you'll have to set DRam selectable timing to Manual and enter as many of the timings as you can find (leave the rest on Auto).

Finally, that appears to be quite a considerable underclock you have there for PC2-8500. That much of an underclock should make it more likely to work than less, but you should ideally be setting the System Memory Multiplier to at least 3.00. On those clocks, this will get the RAM to 999MHz - still a little short of the 1066MHz designed speed, but not by much.

PS - the RAM volts are a little high for my liking but then again I don't like overvolting anyway. Not sure what that memory is intended to take. You might need active RAM cooling with that much volts.

I started the ram at 2.0v & bumped it up to try to get a memtest run. I initially had the Ram up at near 1066 but brought that down as well for the same reasons.
I'm going to walk the dog & have another bash.

I've dropped the volts to 2.0v it's rating & have upped the frequency & I have entered the mem timings manually to make sure they stick but still it locks up as soon as I click memtest start :-/
Off to walk me dog & have a think.

Might just be an incompatible combinations. Stuff like that happens. :(

Fortunetly I have the Corsair that the seller lent me so it's not a problem really. I just don't like to be beat by Anything. I'll plug away for a bit & see if I can overcome the issue.
