Is there not as easier way to add friends to the wii?

I just thought I'd give it a go then, i got about 4 down on the list in the sticky, and haven't even touched another list of friends yet, and it feels like its going to take about 3 weeks at this rate... There must be a sensible way of doing this? The Wii controller although great was not designed for mass input ;D :p
