I'd like to add a desktop clock to OS X for the duration of the Olympics just so I can tell at a glance what the time is over there...

From what I can see, that was taken off from 10.5 so has anyone got a 10.4 system and can pull the file off as described here (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20071111053947248) or does anyone have any suggestions for a half decent free desktop clock for OS X?

No.
I don't want to have to F12, I want it on the desktop.

You could use Yahoo widgets, aka Konfabulator. Its what inspired Apple Dashboard but they can run on your desktop.

download the folder :p

I have no idea how to use that FTP space properly, so if anyone can give me a quick rundown sometime it'd be great lol.

Beat me to it (I actually had to turn the Mac Mini on to find the file. :))

I'm not sure I can get the whole directory structure easily because it's a .app so should be a single file, is there any way you can zip the .app file and put that up please?

Actually that's not correct. A .app is actually a directory not a file. If you right click on the app and choose 'show package contents' you'll see the directory structure underneath.

I know that, but it's presented and treated within the OS as a single file. Mr. Winder had uploaded the directory as a directory so I'd have had to download each part of the tree manually and then re-assembled it on the local machine. Much easier to have it treated as the single virtual file and zipped :)

wget or curl will grab a directory structure for you. Much easier than grabbing file by file. But yes, an archive is easier still.

And it only took me 2 minutes from request to archive it and upload it :p so not a lot of hassle haha.

There's a small terminal hack to get your dashboard widgets to sit on your desktop all the time. I don't remember how to do it but it's definitely doable and it's just a small entry to terminal that does it.
