Burble, if you're really bored, GunGame mod for CS:S is quite a laugh, but I'm not sure how easy it is to setup, or whether its easy to turn on and off on demand.
I'll have a look into GunGame. Turning mods on and off should just be a case of stopping one windows service and starting another.

How did people find the server? I left the 2 x Q4 and the Q3 server running at the same time. Memory usage peaked at about 1.5Gb but hopefully everyone had a smooth game.
Was a good littl game last night, although I wasn't about for long. Will deffo be about tonight from around 7-9.30 if anybody is about.

Smooth as a babies bum for me. Pinging at under 10 constantly :eek:
No real spikes or issues I can think of.

Only after she'd been playing (or rather trying to) for 10 minutes did I point out that the "Admir4l HuDdy" character she was following was one of the guys she'd seen at the Essex meet:

Should be. I'll be down in London on Tuesday but should be home (assuming that the trains don't get screwed up) by about 7.
Apparently the death beam server mod was broken in the last steam update. There is a way to turn it on using client settings though:
use the talk button 'y' and type in "settings"
Press retun and there is an option to turn deathbeam on or off.
No idea if it works as im at work at the mo.
I'll try to come on tonight aswell if other people are, be nice to have a gungame on my server with more than just me and Feek if other peolpe are up for it, makes a nice change from the usual hostage / defusal type play.

Yeah in the BM. Don't know any real details but it sounds like it's just a dent in the rear bumper and some cracked paint.
Her neck has stiffened up a wee bit so we'll have to see how that pans out.

All you guys kept running away and leaving the hostages unguarded. Given the nice little shortcut down to the hostage rescue point that made life very easy.
Was good fun. Eerily quiet though. I think I saw about 5 words typed through the whole night. :p

I hated that map with the hostages. Think I'll be changing the gamma next time I play that map, I couldn't see a thing :/

I have to play about to see which weapons I like. I was just buying and running around with no rhyme or reason last night. Enjoyed it though.
You want me to post my weapons binds? I tend to stick with the same stuff for most rounds. Deagle, M4/AK, then either Flashbang or HE Gren and Vest+Helmet.

This is the layout I use although you can obviously change it around a bit to suit you. So I can now just start a round and hit (on the keypad) Enter, 2, 5, 7(and or)8 to get armoured up, M4/AK, ammo and then get a flashbang and or HE gren. That's my typical round. Sometimes I'll grab a smoke gren or dessert eagle as well. But it's just that much easier now :)
I might add a shotgun to kp_star and a sniper rifle as well.
Oh, I also added this to see the time left unitl map change.

Worth noting, once you've purchased equipment, if you like what you've got and want to use it on the next round, when the round starts just hit b followed by r.
Once I've got a setup I like for the map thats all I do each round.
I prefer the manual route for some reason. Guess it helps in that if you don't die you can just stock up on grens and ammo :)

Should be pretty simple to add an amxmod plugin enabling people to have control over things like map selection too :)
Any suggestion as to which plugins would do the trick? I took a look at the amxmod website but my attention span is down to single digits of seconds this week.

I have a 20 man Teamspeak server you can make use of if you like.
Other people do have access but knowone really uses it that much.
I can even set up a passworded BD room if needed.
I set up a dedicated BD TS server the other week when we first started playing Malc. Limited to 16 players at the moment (although there's been absolutely no lag on my PC/connection from it and if we hit 16 and it's still fine I can increase).

I dont think anyone would mind :) I assume he has Steam and CS:S installed, so tell him to just add 82.110.127.251:27015 to his favourite servers. Thats Burbles server, and the password is omgwtfbbq.
His username is invalid when I try to add it to my friends, so I guess thats not his account name. Not that we need it for him to join or anything, the password is all he needs for that.

How long??! The new maps aren't exactly massive (de_dust06 = 7.2Mb, de_ruinas = 10Mb) and that server is sitting on a 34Mbit internet connection so it should be able to upload at about 4.25Mb/s.
What speed is your internet connection Huddy?
Map uploading does seem to be particularly slow, even over my LAN from my server.
Solution: Post a link to the maps so people can download them manually first. de_ruinas is well worth it :)
I pulled them off the site Burble linked too last night and installed them myself, no bother :)

I'm using a USB headset that I bought last year sometime. Great bit of kit, really clear and no faffing.
My headset is the cheapest piece of tat you've ever seen, but it works really well... as long as I don't breathe on it or move the wires about too much.
Thinking about it, I need to pick someone up from Milton Keynes train station tomorrow so I'll leave myself enough time to get down to Maplins.

Oh yes. I might finally be forced into finding somewhere else. I've got away pretty unscathed over the last few years (don't use their email, don't use their hosting), but the internet just has to work - no questions asked.
All our our work ADSL connections are through Zen and I can't fault them. Zen have been putting a lot of time into sorting my ADSL woes, but the ball has been in BT's court too long for me to put up with it.
Do Zen not run an LLU service then?

The EasyNet LLU service is supposed to be pretty good, bar some issues with CNN and a few other big sites blocking the entire /19 for some unknown reason.

I think MinusNet they took the broadside as a hint (they seem to be good at that when you're a business customer as I am). I'm getting no more drop-outs on the NASA shuttle streams (I've lost about 6 hours of footage today), and close to 1 Mbps. Not perfect, but it'll do.
Too late to do anything about CS though. :(

Odd.... it was showing up fine a few mins ago, I even saw you and a couple of others in it, then I tried to join and it changed to server not responding. I checked the IP address and for some reason steam has changed it :|
If I delete the server and try add it again (using 82.110.127.251:27015) it just doesnt add to my favourites or do anything at all. Damn steam, will restart it...
edit: restarted and it's in my list fine, must have just been a glitch in the matrix.

I've really not spent that long playing it. I usually play on a clan server though (although am not a member of the clan - not dedicated enough to be arsed with all that), so perhaps they've dragged my standard up a bit without me realising.
Since last playing I've also got a new monitor, keyboard and mouse so thought that might take some getting used to, but it seems not :)
Good game guys. Hopefully next time my bro won't be hogging the connection and teamspeak will be useable for me!

First two keep the player count at 4 if there are less than 4 real people, if the number of real people goes above 4 then there will be no bots.
Last one just means that if there's nobody on, then there will be no bots playing with themselves. Makes it quicker when a player joins for the game to start, they won't be waiting for the bots to finish a round.

On the contrary, I usually rush from spawn area, aiming to get to various areas quicker than the opposing team. Always switch to knife to start with, it helps you run faster, but have your main gun already scrolled to along the top so when the time comes for action you're just a mouse click away from getting your gun out.
Get to know the maps. On most maps there are a few good waiting places for CTs. If you're CT, think about the routes that Terrorists are going to be taking to get to their targets, and where you can see them on approach. Don't chase down the Terrorists so much when you've got a (nearly) complete team of CTs, let them come to you (I killed you a few times on some of the maps by sitting where I knew Terrorists would have to go)
Oh.. and don't crouch around so much! No need unless you've got suspicions someone is around the corner.
Oh.. and Get on TS, even if you can only listen :p
If you're Terrorist, work together, protect the guy with the bomb. Try and take alternate routes to the bomb zone (and alternate this) so that you're harder to predict, trying to keep the CTs off kilter.

This is my tactic also.
If you start with your gun out and immediately switch to knofe, pressing Q (default key mapping) will switch you back to your last used weapon so you can switch between gun and knife really quick.
Two things I have to make a conscious effort to do or I become crap...
1) fire in short bursts - it's so tempting just to hold the trigger down and spray everywhere and it doesn't work
2) If you can, crouch when shooting, it makes your shots more accurate.

Does anyone play this during the daytime?
I crouch / walk a lot so i can hear footsteps and dont make any of my own. I'm probably not a good person to watch for tips though :D.

The worst thing I do is OCD reloading. 30 rounds, fire 4, reload..... get shot in face :/

Generally if I can afford it I'll either get the AK or M4, some ammo, and kevlar + helmet, and that's me set.
Occasionally I'll get the bullpup <sp?> or kreig things if it's a map where there's somewhere I can stand and pick people off from a distance (I'm not good with the AWP or scout).
That looks like a CS map, not a CS:S map.

There is a corollary from this, though, in that you're presenting a smaller, target, but with a better chance of the opponent hitting your head. Still, I tend to crouch going for "shoot first and hardest"

It's not the best, but it should stop and random jumps or pauses. Decent enough temporary solution ime.

To buy a colt/ak and ammo in 1.6 your bind might be like this. bind "F1" "m4a1;ak47;buyammo1;buyammo1"

When you've got what you like bought, look to the lower right of the screen and hit save beside on of the preset groups.
currently I have "D" setup for the snipe/rifle/standard loadout for me, and S set to the dual pistols 'el cheapo' loadout. Then on spawn I just press "b d" or "b s" as needed
