Aitch HATES them, I've never been overly keen but

M80 JCW or M800 JCW on a John Cooper Works MINI?

M85 JCW would be best obviously

As long as people can immediately see what they are and they are cool, then they are alright. IMO, although it suits the car, Mxx JCW just wouldnt stand out enough (other than the anachronism) to make it cool or worthwhile.

Imagine yourself in the pub/chippie/wherever having to explain what it means. If you think that you can explain it away without looking like a tool then the plate goes, if you cant then dont bother :)

You see what you want is the kind of thing I'd get (if I a: learnt to drive b: bought a car c: got personalised plates)...

Which would be S41 KEN

Looks normal, but it's my surname in leet japanese :p

I think they are fine if they are somehow significant to the car. Don't really like others. A friend of mine had *** HGW on his Honda Goldwing which was nice. If I could have got a plate with BB4 or something honda/vtec/lude related I would have got one I think but they are all too expensive for decent ones.

I've got 'V6 PJE' (PJE being my initials). All I need now is the V6 to put it on :D

It's surprising how many people do buy them now, A guy at work bought one which doesn't stand out at all as it sort of looks like his name. If you know his name you can tell what it's supposed to be, but otherwise it just looks like a normal plate.

A while back I saw the following plate which would probably mean absolutely nothing to anyone but which would make me the envy of my entire family. Shame that someone already has it.

As for me, I have one. It means something to me, and I waited probably 10-15 years before the DVLA decided to release that range of registrations for sale. It will go on any car I own :)

I'm not a fan unless they say something funny.

G04 TSE would be nice if it was available.

I agree with Aitch. Really not a fan of personalised plates at all, especially on everyday cars. I just find them a bit (can't remember the word, but this'll do) yuppyish I guess.

I was sooooooo tempted to buy one a couple of years ago. J1MYM was up for £4,000 approx.

I'd really like P155 OFF, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the DVLA haven't used that combination of numbers and letters.

I think once my new car is a couple of years old i might get one. All the really good ones are bloody expensive though. Here's one i saw out and about the other week:
