As I now have a job where I am encouraged to wear a shirt rather than dress like a slob I need a new iron, at the moment I am leaning towards a steam generator rather than a traditional hand iron, does anyone have any recommendations?

Something like this

Don't get one with a funny shaped base plate on it. Makes ironing a shirt an absolute nightmare. Just go for a regular iron shaped bottomed iron if that makes sense.

I think that was on UK Hotdeals for £15.00 from Woolworths. Although the deal has expired now :(

Can't really help you MB. I thought ours was quite good but I'm now having doubts.

We either have: Incredibly crud bed clothes and some stupid shirts that just do not ever want to iron or a not-so-good-iron.

Erk. Just remembered I am supposed to be ironing this afternoon.

Ahhh well, tis the evening now. THe moments passed.

a traditional hand iron

I read that as a traditional hard on to start with :o

I buy clothes that don't need ironing so can't contribute anything helpful.

My mum spent a load of money on a steam generator after a quick succession of broken irons, she swears by it now, and would definitely spend good money on a good iron again.

Me personally, i don't really even iron at all :p

Me neither but I'd certainly agree with a good steam generator being the best option at a sensible price.

I suggest getting a job where you don't need to iron clothes :p

It's the only way to be sure you're doing the right thing.

I have your basic iron that gets hot and has water inside it, I've never used one of those ones with the bizarre water base thing that it sits on, so can't comment but I've never had any issues with ironing a nice going out shirt when I've needed to.

I'd go for a 7 to be honest. Not too much wind, so it should be perfect.

Edit: Man, that was a crap joke. *wanders off to find some rope and a chair*

If he doesn't and you don't, I'd be interested for Mrs. Feek to use as she irons my shirts and anything to make things easier would be dead handy ;)

Wow Lozza thats really kind of you, are you sure you wouldn't want it? If you don't then I'll definately take it off your hands :)

Iron them when just out the wash then hang them, works a treat :)

Our iron is good, not actually sure how to work it as it was ex-display so didn't come with instructions though. :o

lol I just got the iron today and a free Dolce Gusto machine earlier on in the year \o/

Also had a fruitizer campaign (5x different flavours), actimel, fruitaboo, and a couple of others so far.

I had the fruitizer one too, really enjoyed that :D
Didn't use bzzagent much for a while so my rating's still pretty low :( Need to build it up so I get cool stuff like an iron :D

How are the people who got these in the Bzzagent trial getting on with them?

I still haven't bought one but I'm still seriously considering it, the top of the the range ones are about £100 on ebay :)

EDIT: so far I've only ironed 3 shirts, 1 top and a pair of trousers but on the whole it is an excellent item, huge improvement over the old iron we had. It doesn't have a squirt option which was a bit confusing to start with but the steam really does the job and the creases go very quickly.

I have a philips one (can't remember the model number) but it's brilliant, fully adjustable for the amount of steam/temperature etc... However I'm quite sad and enjoy ironing my clothes - do it in front of the tv or music and just get on with it!!! I have to iron them for work anyway so it's part of the process - doesnt' take long for half a dozen shirts and some t-shirts half an hour max.

Non iron shirts and hang them up :D

(never tumble dried either)

Failing that I look like a slob and work twice as hard :D

I enjoy ironing too, worked my way through most of Band of Brothers getting it done.

Strewth! It takes me 10-15 mins to iron 1 shirt! Either I have a severe case of OCD, am unordinarily slow or you Sir are some sort of ironing demon!

Who? Me? Or Leo? Eitherway I'll come and live in your closet so I can come out of it every day ;)

Probably OCD then ;) Though more likely a lack of practice? I've been ironing my own clothes for a good dozen years or more and just find it really easy, but surprisingly relaxing :) But I like the thought of being an ironing demon
