Search is finally over, bought this today :)

Had a long drive home from Surrey in it

The first owner had a hell of a time with the option list, £9400 of options and then only did 16k miles in it

Parked next to one of those recently in the car park at a motorway service stop. I love my MR2 but it looked dowdy next to the Cayman :(

Nice car mate - probably my favourite Porsche :)

Wonderfull car - so glad they made this model as 911's are beyond achieveable price brackets for the majority and Boxters are hairdressers cars :p

(saying that I'd happily take one off someone's hands :D)

72 quid floor mats? :D

That's the part that concerned me most as well. You'd think when you're spending that much on a car they'd give you a complimentary set, hell, even Daewoo used to manage that much. Ah, wait, they got bought up, bad example. ;)

Nice car though, must be a lot of fun and changing from a BMW you might even notice people are more courteous to you. ;D

Does nothing for me but no doubt that it's a cracking bit of kit.

Enjoy!

Ever since I got seconded to do some tech support at one of the Porsche factories, I've hated them all. There was a car park full of 'em just waiting. They didn't offer me anything. Not even a sausage. The b***ards. :'(

Lovely car. :)

odd thing is if you go through the "build your porsche" thing on their website there dont appear to be seats that arent extra money

A nice F355 should be well within reach which is good, because it was the last nice non-"i'm a footballer or overpaid banker" ferrari :p

Looks gorgeous and you can't complain at all those extras, although I question the mentality (loaded or not) of somebody who would pay nearly 400 quid on mats and a bit smarter air con. :D

The problem is that after driving something modern like the Cayman a 355 can seem somewhat unweildy.

A few Elise owners have commented that they wish the 355 had remained a dream as the reality ruined the ambition.

That's not, and never has been the point of an F355 though.

The point is this - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=R0OusN1y1Yc - just look and listen.

A few Elise owners have commented that they wish the 355 had remained a dream as the reality ruined the ambition.

More than a few Elise drivers are no more competant drivers than the guy alongside them in a Vectra. Just because they bought one neither means they're in the upper echelons of ability nor does their opinion automatically become definitive. Once you've gone down the stripped out route á la VX/Exige etc, then sportsbike or Caterham is the only way to go to get a more "raw" feeling.
Is the 355 as chuckable or light on its feet as an Elise? Of course not.
It is, however, a vastly superior product.....and I've driven lots of them.

I love the Cayman S - I had a spin (and a cheeky drive of one) in one earlier this year. Much more fun than the 911, but a bit more grown up than the Boxster. Great purchase! One day... one day....

The Cayman is far better looking than the Boxster, which is a hideous car from the 'B' pillar to the rear of the car.

I disagree, there are some nicely kitted boxster s around which are incredibly good cars (from a handling point of view, sharp chassis, responsive and communicative - and surprisingly easy to deal with considering the weigh distribution) - but I guess it's a marmite thing - but I tend to like the look of cars that most people don't :D

Yeah I know that the Boxster is an extremely competant car. My problem is that to enjoy it fully I'd need to be David Blunkett, as I think Porsche got it right upto the 'B' pillar.....then the designers kinda lost the will to live and rushed it.
A great car, I just think it looks like a dogs dinner from certain angles and this is rectified with the Cayman IMHO..

after a week with it my impressions are that it is MENTAL

wish I could keep this and the M3 tbh as they are so different, in the M3 you can either have a spirited drive or use it as a (relatively) comfortable cruiser, the Cayman is just hardcore, you get in and it's like someone is prodding you all the time "go on you tart, give it some"

It's so addictive and amazing fun, the noise is superb

Having said that if I had a 100 mile motorway drive in the rain I would much rather be in the M3
