This seems to be getting UK hotrodders' knickers in a twist with their love/hate relationship with Veedubs...

It's a CGI/Photoshop and I've shamelessly stolen the picture but you can read more about it here: http://hugosilva.deviantart.com/art/vw-street-rod-74101894

Isnt owning a beetle enough on its own to make everyone aware that someone is a ****?

Why go the extra yard?

looks a bit 40s dragcar (especially at the back) and I'm not sure about the wheels.

Yup. I'd swap the wheels for wire spokes though - especially if I didn't have to clean them :D

The wheels do look very Vdub though which I suppose it the point.

Those are a modern repro/copy of a Halibrand magnesium spindle-mount wheel that the drag racers used to use in the '60s :)

Now that, I actually quite like. Wouldn't be something I'd own but I love the style of it :)

I'm finding myself somewhat split about that car, it looks kinda cool but at the same time I can't help thinking there is something inherantly wrong with the look. I think it might be the bonnet that makes it look rather odd.

I'm not sure about it either : Part of me loves the Beetle and doesn't like to see it modified totally...

but then I'm torn coming from a childhood where mon pappa built his morgan, caterham and kitcars alike :D

If pressed for an answer I'd say its a thumbs up. :)

Personally I don't like where the lights are and that can make or break a hotrod. They need to be backward, outward and further up for it to be in correct proportion.
