For all those out there that nom quorn - DO NOT!! I repeat - DO NOT purchase sainsburys own quorn.

It's the mingingness of mingness. Yes ok, you get another 75g of the stuff but I'd rather eat... something baaad!

And before you all start saying "Pfft! Veggies!" I'm not one! I love meat - but love quorn too!

In fact... I just love food.

But yeh! DON'T BUY IT!!

Is that Quorn Pieces or Quorn Mince Pheebs. I quite like the Tesco and Asda Mince more than Branded Quorn stuff

Having recently discovered Quorn mince, I love it now :D
Pity if Sainsbury's own brand sucks though, could do with a cheaper alternative. I'll have to see what Morrisons is like as we don't tend to go to Tesco or Asda.

Sainsburys pwn Quorn!

I did read the title as that at first :)

Judging by the thread, Quorn pwns Sainsburys though :)

Sainsburys own brand is getting very poor for pretty much everything now. I am seriously considering shopping elsewhere even though it's a longer walk to the other supermarkets.

It's their quorn chicken pieces! Taste like.... bits of squidgy mouldy sponge.

The mince I did not try and shall have to.

I think I will see if I can take back the unopened bag of chicken pieces back and swap them!

Doh!

Never understood why they try to market it as being meat or like meat when its just some hippy crap packaged up to look yummy.

It's meant to have a meat-like taste, and a meat-like texture. The latter I have no problem with but the former is debatable. Would much rather it was marketed in its own right.

Maybe some people eat it because they like it. Is that unreasonable?

I eat it because I like it but it's not a substitute for meat. It's the Quorn quarterpounders I really like, fried, served with fried eggs, bacon, sausages and beans. Vegetable fingers and the bbq bangers they do are good too. All with Heinz baked beans of course ;)

It seems so!

I like it thus I eat it :) Not as a substitute for anything, simply because I like quorn mince. Don't eat any other type of quorn though.

With the missus being a veggie she introduced me to Quorn and after initial reservations I've grown quite partial to it, particularly the Chicken pieces and the sausages. The escalope things are quite tasty too, certainly preferable to the equivalent meat product. But we only get the brand-name stuff, I didnt even know there was own-brand Quorn

I'm also quite partial to the escalopes. Not so keen on the chicken pieces, partly because they're pretending to be something they aren't. Quorn should be eaten on its own merits, not as a substitute.

Nice aggressive posting style you have yourself there!! :p

Quorn just tastes good! Whenever I'm being healthy eating and want to stuff myself silly and not feel bad I tend to nom quorn as it's pretty darn low on fat and soooooo filling and tasty :)

Stirfry Quorn Chicken pieces is my favourite. Ooh though actually quorn mince lasagne is always goooooood!

So I tried Quorn Mince tonight in a Bolognese and taste and texture was totally wrong. Not to say that it was unpleasant just wrong, I clearly like my beef too much ;D
