So, who's getting Fifa 09 then? I figure we can use this thread to get some games sorted if needs be.
Mines been dispatched so it will be here tomorrow and I absolutely cannot wait. It's going to be amazing - it's been a long time since I've been so excited about a game!
So far I know myself and Davey are getting it, anyone else?

Bah, you get an extra day to practise it before you play me this weekend. That'll be my excuse if you beat me :D

I only found out last night that I could have had it sent out a day early too, so basically I could have been playing it today. Grrr.
You have the PES 2009 demo tomorrow anyway ;).
On its way to me, should be here tomorrow :)

Ooh, I'll have to give you a game! (if you've been a man about it and got the Xbox360 version).
Yeah i got it on the 360 :)
Gameplay is showing my order as complete, no idea when it's gonna turn up though.
Just played the demo of this and I'm impressed! Played it and the new PES demo one after the other, and Fifa does play a better game of football.
I missed Fifa 08 and PES2008 so didn't realise just how much the tides had turned :D
Have to keep an eye out for Fifa in a few price drops time.

I've got the game now, might not get chance to play it much tonight as I've got some friends coming around. Will likely give it a good go this weekend though. Karl, I'll likely see you at stupid o'clock tonight/tomorrow morning :D

ASDA was just advertising it for £32 though that may be PS3 only

Tesco are doing it for £30 this weekend only, worth picking up for that price if you like footy games.
I have a feeling that if I go online I'm going to get my ass handed to me :( Although saying that, started manager mode last night and Newcastle are currently top of the table :D

It's the only time worth playing! ;).

Forgot to mention, Adidas Live Season alone may be the reason Fifa will win this battle with PES as it's truly brilliant. Everyone gets a month for free (all codes are the same too) and you get to choose which league you want to trial for a month, where after you pay, per month for any, or all leagues you want.
I had a quick scan at some players just to see what it's like and it gives you arrows (up, up right, right, down-right and down) to describe that players rating that week, a rating out of 100 (usual player rating) and last weeks rating. You can also check the team of the week.
The points are pretty much bang on with some players going up and others down. Players like Geovanni, Rooney, Ronaldo, Carragher and Torres are all on ups after good showings at the weekend, other players like Carrick, Drogba, Lescott on downers - the team of the week basically representing accurately performers from last weekend too. It's great!

You actually get a a whole season free according to the manual, for one league. Seems pretty cool, I'll be trying it out properly later :)

Oh right, never thought to read the manual, I just read the rumours on the net pre-release and that's what the talk was. If it's the whole season then that's great!
Loving the game, few bugs that need ironing out but overall its tonking PES, tried the 2009 demo and its hardly change the gameplay is exactly the same as 2008, might buy it for £15 next year.

Personally I think its a fad and a waste of money, I was looking for something more in depth, not impressed even with a free trail.

Well that was fun Davey, even if I only scored 1 goal ;D

How's everyone finding it?
I'm struggling online against people I beat locally, so that's annoying, but have made some tidy finishes. Enjoying trying to perfect the tricks again (which is the main reason behind me losing :p).
Edit: You bought it Leo?

Nah mate I played it round Davey's tonight and was shocking ;D I scored 1 goal in 5 games and you scored, what was it Davey?? around 25???? :o

Thanks to selling a few more games than I expected, I've just taken advantage of this offer :D Been years since I bought a football game at launch but the be a pro and manager modes swung it for me. Just seems to be the complete package :) Plus looks like it'll take a while to master which'll be nice.

Yeah, something like that ;D Lynnie's profile still has more points than mine, I haven't been able to score an overhead volley yet against the AI :D

My Take after playing both demos.
I thought PES suxxed & although Fifa was better I still prefer Fifa08, This is probably due to me being used to F08 though
Mad though I'd never have thought I'd have ever migrated from PES to Fifa but then that was before Fifa08

I think we all felt that way to be fair Malc. That's just how good of a job EA have done.
Got 3 achievements in 1 tonight - 32 yard freekick in off the crossbar. :).
Still need a volley and overhead kick - the latter I don't even know how to do - I've heard RB + Double tapping B, but that's just a header.
Really wish games would start putting headers and volleys on different buttons. If they put volley on X/Square then there wouldn't be any problems at all.

I got the overhead kick achievement on Lynnie's profile last night while playing Leo. Went down the left with Pienaar and crossed it in for Cahill, but the ball was a little behind him. Pressed the shoot button as usual, be because of the ball position he overhead kicked it in instead. I was well happy until I remembered I was using the wrong profile!

Well, after a weekend of playing I can confirm that I officially love this now :D Been playing the Be a Pro mode exclusively, and I'm really enjoying it. Started on Semi-Pro and after 20 games or so found it was really too easy, scoring hat tricks every nearly every game (I had 61 goals in 21 games!), so I bumped the difficulty up to Professional. It's a nice improvement and makes the game more realistic as you can't always sprint through teams (though as my guy is very fast a good through ball means I'm near impossible to catch). Still managed a couple of hat tricks on that difficulty, but also needed a 91st minute solo goal to beat Man City which is the closest game I've had so far.
Overall, the best football game I've played in years. The King is dead, long live the King.

I have to say I really enjoyed the games on Friday. I was originally a Fifa fan back with my gamecube but went over to PES with the xbox. For me though the be a pro feature is an excellent idea as it's fun controlling the whole team but I think that is the killer feature (for me anyway)

Same here :) It was the main feature that swung it for me as it's the type of thing I've wanted in a football game for years :D
Glad to see there's a lot more converts here. Couple other forums still can't go over to Fifa and still believe PES will get better. Personally, just can't see it happening for a long time.
New Fifa I love, although there are times when it becomes frustrating, such as passes that you go to do end up going randomly in the wrong direction. Other than that it's pretty damn good.
Well after winning to easily I upped the difficulty another notch and thrashed Spurs 7-2 :D might have to up it again I think.

SAme. At least not until the PS2 is completely dead. The new PES demo was just embarassing and felt more akin to the Arcade games I played a decade ago than the game of football I have loved over the years.
