Does anyone know of how I can extend the Windows taskbar to reach across two screens? Don't mind using a 3rd party app to do it if it is not native to Windows (can't find any setting that will do it!) so long as it is freeeeeware.

TIA.

UltraMon

Best bit of MultiScreen software you'll find.

I thought you could do that in the GFX drivers
and have one large screen?

Although.. I have not switched my windows PCs on for months!

Your only hope is Ultramon (http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/), but it's not free. Just buy it, it's a must for any dual/multi screen config, it does many things Windows doesn't, and is quite splendid.

[edit]You can frig the drivers to effectively present only one massive screen to Windows, but you'll lose a lot of functionality that way.

I think nVidia drivers cater for it natively, but ATi definitely do not.

However, when I switched to nVidia I ignored it all anyway, because UltraMon is simply fantastic. Allows you to do the obvious such as extending the task bar, you can add buttons to flick windows between screens, manage wallpapers, size offsets, etc. etc.

I couldn't be without it.

Aye that's what a couple of chaps at work use and they raved about it too. I'll have to put my hand in my pocket, the boss will tell me make do with what I've got :/

Quoted for undeniable truth. It's what I use at home and I swear by it.

Ditto. It's one of my essential apps.

I used to use it but recently went back to single 24" display. Miss the extra screen now (used for irc/MSN/gamefaqs)

maybe when I win the lottery I'll buy another :)

Another thumbs up for Ultramon :) Although not used my desktop in months, it was essential when I did :D
