bought me an MX-5

been looking at these for a while, and finally got one, its emerald mica metallic green, completely stock, and i hunted until i got one with a hardtop too! i paid $11,500 cash for this (about 5K GBP) and its a hoot to drive, the ratio between the gears is a bit short, the car is a bit basic (a drivers car, apparently) and sometimes the RWD takes it in a direction other than where i want it to go, that said, it corners like its on rails, its great fun, and i get to drive to and from work everyday, with the temp now climbing up into high 30's (be in the 40's come the turn of the year) with the roof down, and the sound of the galahs and rozellas, its quality.

That looks identical to the one I owned. However you need to do what I did to mine, and get it turbo'ed with in excess of 230bhp! :D ;)

Fantastic handling and goes sideways really nicely and is very controllable. I don't see RWD being a problem at all though? You just have to learn how it drives, and with a car like the Miata it's so forgiving. That's one of the reasons it handles so well, it's the balance and the weight distribution, but also because it is proper wheel drive. The short gear ratio is great as it's jsut what you need with that sort of car. Changing gear is part of the thrill and excitment of it. :)

I have a mk 1 MX-5 and she's old and leaky but she's great fun to drive. Like an on road go-kart.
