View Full Version : Food through a straw...

Right, at the moment I can only eat food thats liquid as I can't open my teeth wide enough to bite through a slice of bread properly. So far, I have just had a couple of different types of soup but this is getting tedious very quickly.

I'm not really a fan of "veg" like that, so simply blending what I would normally eat just isn't an option.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I'd pay to watch someone suck mashed potato through a straw. Five minutes of sucking for all they're worth, before a fragment of mash hits their oesophagus at fifty miles an hour!

when i couldnt eat properly, I just had loads of rice pudding with fruit in it, and really tiny pasta, like conchigliette in sauce.

I can't help with the food suggestions but wtf have you done to mean you need to eat through a straw?

Make a normal-ish meal and then blend very very well... Or stick to soups?

Not so much straw things but things thats super soft which I used to survive on when I had my braces adjusted:

Brekky was either:

Porridge
Hot milk with cereal
Mashed up mango / banana

Lunch:

Soup. I would try and dip bread into it and let it soak until super soggy and suck on that too :)

Dinner:
Mashed veg (either brocolli or swede or butternut squash or peas) with
Mashed pots
Casserolled meat (chicken/beef etc). Put it in the oven for HOURS so it literally melts. Then you can break it down to soft nommable bits :)

As said - not straw things as suck but requires no chewing :) Get well soon mister!!

Get your flavourite meal, anything, put it through a blender. It'll taste great, just not texture and you have all the nutrients as before.
